This is a very typical Compusa story as well.

I have no real idea, but I'd imagine that any troubles with this software could be fixed by letting iTunes/iPod updaters wipe the iPod and re-format the thing. But I've seen no troubles on my 1st gen 10 gigger.
Music playback under Linux is awful, and this is mostly a really cool hack, not anything enormously useful. yet. It's very cool to add software to your iPod (and I wish Apple would add a calculator to the official iPod bag of tricks), but your inner Jobs will recoil at the interface and slightly clunky controls. Though surely this will only improve with time, and hats off to the folks responsible! It's a very cool development. Has there been anything available for the iPod that so thoroughly hacks the thing? I know there's lots of shareware that adds useful info to your notes or contacts (movie showtimes, etc.) but this is a whole 'nother thing entirely.

2 more points-
360- Rumble
PS3- TrueHD
Yes, 360 has rumble, but it also has 1080p, as does PS3's.
I'd go Xbox 360 for online

NBA 2k7 hands down -- I tried playing NBA Live 07 and I just didn't enjoy it at all...
2k7 offers great animations, graphics, and overall gameplay -- don't settle for Live, stick with 2k7
just my opinion though

ddtlm,
alex_ant was talking about a G5 8500 specifically. had he said 85xx then that would include the -40 and -60 models. however the general assumption is that a desktop Macable model would be labeled 8500, and no such processor is shipping or has been officially announced.

If apple releases a computer that is worth-while in Jan. then I will get one of the Philips Randezvous stereo's I need a new one badly . But if apple releases more crappy hardware in Jan then im sure PCs will have copied Randezvous and renamed it Randy or something :D, and I can live with that.

I would be amused if this now leads to increased sales of music on the iTMS. DRM haters and/or Linux users will be allowed to buy music. It probably won't be noticable if they shut off access quickly enough, but it would be interesting. :D
DRM just doesn't work.

Nope, his 'work' email is sjobs@apple.com (mailto:sjobs@apple.com). When I worked at Apple, that's what he used to contact us.
A more interesting question is: Has anyone received an email from teh Steve?

Alot of IE users wonder what's so hot about tabs, and I think tab-browsing, ON TOP of the various extensions (adblock, ForecastFox, etc.), is the reason I use it.
No spyware. Another reason I use it. Since my spyware influx went from alot (from IE) to 0. Seriously. 0. I don't know how IE users can argue against that. IE loses. Plain and simple. Unless IE7 proves to be a new wheel, I doubt this will change.

I already know someone who has a 360 and someone who is seriously considering buying one, especially with DMC IV and the possibility of the new katamari game porting over and maybe banjo kazooie. It seems that all major tittles are being offered for multiple consoles, which is a big :) in my mind

My friend told me about a new Apple commercial he saw on TV at 2030 Eastern time. I just wanted to claim fame on these forums for being the first to know. There are 2 dudes, one who is mac and one who is windows, and it talks something about 8 bajillion viruses. And mac has none. It's part of a campaign. Who can be the first to find it on the internet? I want to see it myself...

Overclocked my Athlon 1.4GHz Tbird to 1.522GHz, benchmark results (under C#, which was fastest) did an average of 7390 milliseconds (7.39 seconds). w00t!
Gotta love overclocking.

Not true. it runs flash fine (if you're into that kind of thing). The Flash player installer just installs the Mozilla compatible plugin in the /plugins directory.
Firefox isn't deficient, and hasn't been... ever since it was called Phoenix. It rawks ;)
What happened is quite simple - you probably either have Windows XP, or installed Flash before Firefox. If that happens, Flash must be installed again for Firefox to be able to use it.

I think Microsoft is using hard drive capacity against the PS3. 120 GB vs. 60 GB. What are you going to choose? Ignoring BluRay (and it's likely consumers will ignore BluRay), this may appear to be the better buy at quick glance especially with an online media store behind it.
I hope this would mean a price drop on the Premium box, but I'm guessing not :(
If the Elite went at a 399 price point and the Premium takes the 299 price point, it would be a glorious day :) But, it's not going to happen anytime soon. "Late-summer or fall" at best doesn't help me.
At this stage a larger HDD size would be nothing more than icing on the cake for MS. I find it hard to imagine the PS3 catching up any time soon. When numbers are neck and neck and theres pressure on 3rd party devs - then we'll see how low these big guys can go.

So with all the lack of Wii games for a while, I've come to the conclusion I want an XBox 360. Fund are limited(of course:( ) but I have enough for Xbox 360 Premium, 1 games and maybe 3 months of Xbox live(or a wireless bridge for online play)
But with this Zephyr talk I'm afraid I'll buy the XBox 360, then the new one will come out, and the 20Gb one will lower its price. I don't have an HDTV, so the HDMI thing isn't huge, 120Gbs isn't need, I'll only have game demos on my harddrive, and I like white more. So its not that I want the new xbox 360, I just don't want to pay 400 for something that will be 300 dollars soon.
So do you guys think I should go buy one now(tomorrow maybe?) or wait it out. Or I could buy one at costco, so if a new one comes out in 90day I'd be covered.

I like your style Nipsy and your points are well taken. I think that a lot of people are just venting.
Personally, I would find it extremely hard to believe that Apple wants to live and die by a Photoshop metric. On the other hand, Intel and AMD don't seem to be making bank on every speed increase either, which tells me that PC's are price constrained commodities for the most part.
Apple, on the other hand, is quite aware of the dollars that can be generated with a quick and substantial speed bump in January, especially as most of the bleeding edge types that have stuck their noses up at the 7455 machines.
I have a dual 500 with a hardware raid (ata66), and I can get a good speed bump by jumping to a 133 raid and 7200 RPM drives, should I need to stretch this a bit more. Then, of course, there are dual 800 and 1G upgrades, though I would need to see quite a price decrease to be interested in these.
Is it worth it to incrementally bump the machine? Probably not.
I bought my first, a 128, in Feb 84. There wasn't, for all practical purposes, any software other than MacWrite and MacPaint. Then we went through both the Sculley and Amelio eras.
Apple has had its up's and down's. Apple's definitely on an up swing now with the release of Jaguar.
I advocate patience regarding hardware. Apple knows quite well that we want to splend our money. 3 more months, I would think.
