I have a question for all of you World of Warcraft players.
When I play games, I don't like to have to interact with other players. I don't like to wait for games to start online. I don't like to be schooled by people who spend exponentially more time playing than I do. I like to play for whatever chunks of time I have and that's it. If I have 30 minutes to play, I want to spend it playing and enjoying myself. I don't want to spend 20 minutes waiting to get a group together.
With all this in mind, could I still play and enjoy World of Warcraft?
You play the same as I do.
I found I did fine initially with WoW and enjoyed the first few hours leveling up and exploring the immediate vicinity.
HOWEVER... once your up to maybe level 15-20 + the only way to really progress in the game is to join a guild and then all that commitment crap kicks in and your in a gaming place you simply dont want to be in.
Not worth the effort imho unless your really willing to sit down to 2-4 hour gaming sessions with people constantly telling you what do, where to go, what your doing wrong....
If I want to be nannied, i'll hire a feckin nanny. I just want to enjoy the game on my own and at €15 a month I should be able to.... but thats not what wow is about and it requires way too much.. wayyyy toooo much...

what we need is more of our old folders to jump back in.
Is there anyway we can email them and invite them to help?
We need bertman and FritzTheWonderMutt to get their groove back!

Actually, this appears to be the third version (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=210749) of this topic. ;)

If you are interested in setting up MythTV, do not waste your time with Ubuntu or any other distribution that requires you to build Myth yourself. You'll spend a LONG time dealing with lots and lots of tedious details.
Instead, I suggest trying KnoppMyth, as nowaycomputer also suggested. It is a version of Knoppix Linux, that comes with MythTV already installed. It automatically detects most of your hardware. Although, you may have to answer a few questions about your TV card or something like that.

I set it up on an extra AMD box that I have in less than an hour.

That it runs like a charm (I've used the terminal and gui versions, but have only used the gui on my g5), and that the F@H (http://folding.stanford.edu/) FAQ has some good info.
Check project summary (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html) to see details on the protein you're working on, including links to a description (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/allprojects#1162) (my current protein), which may mean nothing to most of us, but is handy to show friends when describing the lil' app running hidden on the computer.:D
Of course, one should also look at the linkity link in numerous sigs leading to the well written Macrumors Folding info page (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=21908).

I bought a PS3 had it for 24 hours and took it back.
did not like the controller, was actually the reason I took it back.
and the fact the graphics looked no better than my 360 and it was not any faster at loading, AND I hated the UI with a passion :)

If you're worried about a 9.5.2002 update to PB's, it's only a week away. Patience little grasshopper. Don't let anyone throw you off your game.

(I apologize if this isn't the right place to post this, but it kinda is associated with Apple. I'm a newbie and still trying to learn...)
I've been waiting for months to find out why Steve "The Woz" Wozniak became a member on of the board of the directors at Danger (Danger.com). According to Danger and T-Mobile, a new hiptop device called "The Sidekick" is coming out. Oddly enough, dangerinfo.com reported that the possible release date is September 12 or 15 (or later). Does this match dates with MacWorld Paris?
I could be totally wrong about all of this but was wondering if anyone out there has any info on this. Thanks.

Am I the only one who didn't like gears of war? I just thought it was incredibly boring. I couldn't stand more than 1/2 an hour playing it.
A movie based on it? The only good game => movie crossover I can think of was the tomb raider movies, and they we're only slightly above average. The mario movie was fun in the stuipest sense, but not good in the least.
I didn't like GeOW either.
Oh, and the Tomb Raider movies were among the better of video game based movies, but they were still pretty mediocre.

its even on Version Tracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25287)
But, of course, with no feedback, as of when I checked.
Edit: VPC7 is, what, $100 more? For once, I'd say it's worth it. Yes, the VPC versions that include Windows cost even more, but I'm assuming you've got your own licensed version, since you'd need one for this as well.
