You guys kill me... 5GB is too small? It is old technology? Please... even the 5GB iPod is lightyears ahead of any manufacturers. 5GB is still alot of songs...and I am sure that most have not filled this much up unless you are just downloading tons of garbage you don;t really listen to. That said, I just ordered the 10GB iPod.

Just wanted to get a thread running on what powerbook specs are expected with this speculated Nov. 5th update. Personally, I think the following is reasonable:
1Ghz G4 (low end staying at 800mhz)
512 mb DDR RAM (I know the processor can't fully utilize it yet, but it does run at a lower voltage and therefore it will reduce heat)
Better heat dissipation system
Radeon 9000 preferably with 64mb of RAM
I really hope that bluetooth is included, but the above are really all I think we can realistically expect.
Now.... does anyone have any information to the contrary????

I like Firefox because you can block certain site pop-ups but allow others to give you pop-ups.
I really liked the way it did "find" just start typing the word you were looking for...doesn't do that anymore.

That's strange, the console version should be a bit faster then the gui version. Especially on older/slower machines. All of the cpu power goes to crunching the WU, there isn't a bit that helps the graphics card making the picture, so the console version should be faster.
I see where you're coming from but the gui client only has a gui if you tell it to display the protein. it defaults to not showing so there is nothing to use system resources.
I have folded 8 large units on my G4 500 and all of them got 10% or so in the time it took the terminal client to get about 1-2%. using the gui client I had it set to accept the proteins above 5mb. it always took about 8-10 days to do 1 wu and I would get about 250+ points for each so they were large.

Once again. To avoid Tinkers on G3s and G4s. Turn 5MB OFF and leave -advmethods on. G5s can handle Tinkers no problem. Keep up the fold!

My PS1 MAY actually come out of retirement, as I'm considering getting a control mat, too! It seems like a great way to play my "Shane Warne 99 Cricket" game - Jump on "X" to hit the ball, whilst jumping on the arrow keys for direction... Good for 2-player games, where you can have a mat each (one for bowler, one for batsman!).

You are the person I have been trying to explain to the community. Why do people need faster cpu/computers if what they have already satisfies them. I would say that people like you make up nearly 75% of the market currently and growing.
In reply to some other people saying they are waiting to buy there next Apple when they are so fast speed doesn't matter for the few of us like you that you will always want something faster. I know I will but I'm not willing to wait 2 years for Apple to release something faster. So I bought now and guess what this thing is so fast I could easily wait 4 maybe 5 years. I know this based on how long I kept my last computer and comparring the the equivalent speeds of them when they were new. Meanwhile I will enjoy my new computer in the time it takes Apple to release the next fastest thing.

Does it affect your count only if you use it placed on the lap or even in general use like placing on the table or desk.
I don't know that any major studies have been done besides this one:

Godfather: Blackhand Edition (the wii version) is really neat... lots of stuff to do, lots of destruction and mayhem... and the wiimote integration is were the game really shines... i never played the original version, but as i understand it, there hass been a good amount added compared to the oringinal xbox version... not to mention over 25 wiimote gestures for executing and intimidating people...
Lots of additional levels in the Wii version that weren't in the original, as well. Definitely buying this next week.

Not that I expect anyone here to believe me since I'm not going to provide the kind of proof that people in general are going to expect.... That being said.
Apple along with it's cpu partner('s) have been working on the next big CPU jump for quite some time. A few **YEARS** in fact. Nothing has changed. Where these people get the idea that stuff like a MAJOR CPU update happens in a 3 to 6 month windows are totally off the freaking beam. We are talking YEARS folks. CPUs and new motherboards are not whipped up in a weekend with 6 guys and a few cases of beer.
The next CPU Apple is going to use began it's life sometime in 2000 and yep the baking process is still going on...
I'm gonna shut up now since I don't want to say anything more but all of this FUD and cloak-n-dagger crap is getting pretty silly.
My last bit of adivice... The comment about Apple not going with the Power4 chip should not be taken as if it came down from God himself... And thats all I'm gonna say on that topic.
Remember worrying is nothing but wasted energy... Kick back relax and enjoy the show. :D
