Can i manually install the aliases to cut down on the amount of typing i'd have to do in Terminal?
I was thinking about how to do this and why the aliases didn't take in the first place.
I created a shell script file of the aliases and you could start it by typing ./FoldingAliases.sh but even more, you should be able to combine it with your shell profile. I'll do something about making it easier.

Reminds me of Soundsmith on the Apple IIgs. How I miss that program and all the songs I made with it.
I actually posted the link.. I purchased the software when it was in alpha stage.. I missed mod/it/xm tracking on my amiga/pc ... Renoise is the first decent tracker for the mac.
Player Pro was around .. but it was childish feeling..
i am happy that they are porting this software.
I am not a great musician, but it is fun to create with this software.

Most likely not wiht the idea of scrolling long web pages (besides, a lot of scroll mouse users use the directional keys to look at web pages; i know i do!)
While the rest is all well and good, I have to ask: editing keyboard? Apple made an editing keyboard?
To everyone else: The one-button mouse is just fine for me. It serves all my purposes well, and I am hardly a novice user. Any time I need a contextual menu, I crtl-click. It's become second nature at this point. The only reason I would want a multi-button mouse is that you need one to run Maya, even the PLE version. Okay, fine the scroll wheels are nice too.

That and Gigaflops isn't a real measure of performance... the Xbox can do more Gigaflops than a G4...
It's all in the way you decide to measure it.

Look, Apple is focused on having an Alti-Vec processor, everything has been written for that, now people say the new IBM Power PC based on Power4 might not be Alti-Vec so therefore Apple will not use them. If Apple is so worried about having Alti-Vec, then why in the hell would they be now going to an x86 from AMD. If Apple goes AMD or Intel it would have to be an x86 processor. That is what they build and they are not going to build a small number of some special high tech processor just for Apple, sorry IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
Okay lets say you guys are right and Apple says...yep an AMD Athlon for our PowerMacs in Jan...then what do you do with the "i" and "e" series. Do you continue on with them as a PPC with Alti-Vec and make the PowerMacs with an x86 AMD? HOLY MOLY what a confusing thing. We then have Macs that are not even compatible with each other, you then have to make different software for different computers. What about all the PPC Macs that are out there right now. How long do companies have to make different software for all different types of machines? If Apple goes to AMD it would not be a PowerPC, and for now changing chip arc. would make for lots of confusion.
There is still something called AIM and PowerPC and this is where the future Apple processors will come from. Intel and AMD are not going to plug huge amounts of money into designing an all new chip that is completely compatible with PPC considering Apples market share. If Apple goes x86 then they might as well stick Windows XP on their machines and go head to head with the rest of the PC mess.

We will all have to wait a year for it, but it should be worth the wait.
IBM looks like its going for the jugular on ol' Intel/M$--Mac and Linux OS's running on their new chips. Cool.
The blurb about the G5 by Motorola was also encouraging.
This is all good news for me--someone who is not planning an upgrade for a year. I'm sure it is an agonizing wait for people buying Mac towers now, knowing the foundations of the technology are going to change dramatically in the next 12 months or so.
I wonder how this stuff slipped past Apple Legal. I mean, unveiling the next chip when you can't sell the current towers has got to sting a bit. Doesn't help when benchmarks put the 1.25 ghz in a dead heat with the old 1 ghz machine in many respects.
The best news is that Apple is no longer technologically hamstrung by Moto for their top-end hardware. IBM is just the kick-in-the-pants Moto needs to get crackin' on faster chips.

Downloaded and installed. I don't see any difference between 1.0 and the 1.0RC, but that's typical, well for the company i work for. It's nice to know that it's the official production release.

It doesn't even really look that great. You have to purchase an entire kit (hd, kb, mouse, DVD,...) just to run linux on there :(
A good point. By the time PS3 is out, it might even be cheaper (at least not much more expensive) to just buy a G5 mini ;) and set it to Fold 24/7. Just hate to think of that h/w sitting in my closet doing nothing...

$99 is pretty steep for basically remembering your bookmarks and desktop photo. Everything else you, such as documents, email etc you can just store as files on your ipod.
Us mac users can even go one step better, with CarbonCopyCloner we can take our whole computer with us - as long as your iPod is big enough that is! And all for free!
It would be nice to have an easy backup option, like idisk on pod I guess. Don't think it would be a big deal for me but it would be nice.

[QUOTE=amateurmacfreak]I get what you mean, but I don't think it's the best analogy. ;)
First Jobs has to massacre thousands of people??
Yeah, see the difference? :p
But I do get it's basis... not a bad thought, in the regard you mentioned. :)[/QUOT
thats actually not what im tryng to say. when did i say jobs had to kill ppl? just b/c im saying they are alike doesnt mean im speaking in every sense. the only ways i think they are alike are in my above post. i dont think you get what i mean b/c you proceeded to talk about jobs killing ppl and tried to suggest that that was part my arguement.

Hmm, will give Adium and Fire a go. Which do most people prefer?
Edit: Took a look at the Adium website (am at work on a PC so can't try it yet). Looks great! I can't believe I didn't know about this!

Hey, just wondering if anyone knows how to get Connect360 to update with the latest stuff in my Movies folder. I converted something and it wouldnt show up on the 360, ever after rebooting the console.
I had to stop sharing with Connect360 and resume again to get it on the console.
Thanks.
Once you add a movie to the movies folder, it will automatically update Connect360. The movie file has to be converted to a WMV and WMV Audio file. If it uses any other of Audio compression, Connect360 won't find or be able to use it.

installed computers...does that count all those outdated macs in poor or broke school districts around the world? ...installed computers sounds like such a worthless stat
we need more speed, we need the G5, and we need lower prices to get back some of the current marketshare
but one reason that there are so many installed macs is that they simply last longer, and as a pc tech, i can attest to that (so in that sense, macs are actually cheaper because one can own a mac which will work well for three years vs. a pc which gets outdated by the latest games/windows version/office version within 20-24 months)
mac software does not attempt to outdate a machine to spur hardware sales

that whole firing unpleasantness thing that would happen if I loaded unauthorized software office wide.
So just get it authorized ;)
Only 4 of the machines in my farm fold 24/7. But the rest (12) do make a big difference.
Don't go the 'ilegal' way, it has been tried before. In the end, the earned points didn't count.

We often get foreign ads normally from Europe though, and normally for cleaning products, for some reason. They generally are badly dubbed with 'proper' British voices, so you can spot them a mile off. :D

Why would you want to paint yourself?
it would be semi-see-thru.
Cannot do a clear case and keep the RFI rating it currently has, remove the metal box and the computer would get extremely noisy. And check on some of the clock rates to find out where to tune the your radio, tv, cell phone, etc. dial.
if i were good in creating stuff in photoshop, i would try to recreate my "dream" machine.
maybe someone out there would want to give it a shot. and recreate it.

I have computers running all the time, and this seems like a worthy cause.
My dad died from a brain tumor, and my sister recently underwent surgery to remove a large chunk of cancerous liver tissue [and is starting up chemo very soon:( ].
It might be akin to throwing splinters from the arms of deck chairs off the Titanic, but it makes me feel like I'm contributing, and the competitive nature of accumulating points is a geekycool bonus.

I don't think it's stolen at all. The ichat icon and those look the same but really aren't, even the basic shape is different, and anyone with photoshop can make a glassy looking icon.

I actually like the one button mouse to a point. My whole family (immediate family of 8) are pc users except me and my brother. And you know what, only one uses the second button regurally and that is only for games. Hell, even my GF, a recent switcher never used the second button. The truth is, most PC users, except pro users, use the second button.
That being said, once one gets used to the second button, its hard to go back. Ask any mac user who has switched from a one button mouse and I bet they wouldn't go back.
One last thing, every standard mouse I used with a PC, I didn't enjoy. When I was a PC user, I ended up going out and buying a better mouse anyway, so I just see it as part of the computer world.
