Now that I think about it, we do. Search is your friend.
I did do a search.
I didn't find anything.

Maybe they could cool it by leaving the case open and running your houses central air conditioning through it;) Very cool to here that.

People don't waste your money on it. Microsoft Office any version is a POS app that deserves nothing. Office and its variants cause more headaches in my world (graphic arts) then another application. I refuse to gave MS money because their apps are a pain in the ass to to use and get what you want out of them. After I wasted the company money on Office 98 for Mac, never again will I use MS products. If you must have compatability with Office stuff, use NeoOffice. It works fine, esspecially on newer Macs. It is Office that has created this attitude of "I can create that". Yea right, overburden the user with a zillion options and confusing interface, that is MS's way of doing things.:D

Yes you can play WoW in little increatments. But be aware... you'll get sucked into the Void quickly!
There was a time when I was in college when games (specifically online games) occupied much more of my time that I would like to admit. Classes and studying often took a backseat to a leveling session or a dungeon raid. I did telephone tech support for the university so I had plenty of time to play even at work. It was hard to cut ties but when I finally did, it was embarrising to look back at all the wasted time.
This is the main reason World of Warcraft has been sitting in my desk drawer for more than a year. I didn't want to repeat the above scenario. I don't think this will be a problem for me these days. Instead of classes, I have a wife. Instead of studying, I have 3 kids. Instead of working to have money for road trips and fast food, I am working for a a mortgage and retirement. Now, I still enjoy playing games but I just don't have the time or the desire to devote much time to them.
By the way, I created my first character Thursday and it was a Dwarf Paladin. It was ok but not quite what i was looking for (I only took it up to level 5) so I created a Night Elf Druid instead. I am now up to level 14 and having a great time.

Well, opportunity cost is present in all our buying decisions, whether Mac or PC. I was speaking only in terms of computer purchasing.
Still, Mac users tend to hold onto their machines. I offer an alternate theory. The average Mac user doesn't "love" his or her computer. He/she bought it and uses it because it allows him/her to concentrate on getting the job done. The Mac "just works" without a lot of fuss or muss. One software package installed on it can be upgraded without fear that the other software will be broken by the upgrade.
I pretty much agree. Maybe "love" was too strong a word, but I think most Mac users who realize how much less troublesome their Macs are compared to PCs have an affinity for their machines, and all things remaining constant, wouldn't want to abandon their Macs (except for newer Macs :)).
The Mac and PC markets have very different dynamics. People who buy Macs tend to purchase them with funds at their disposal for their own use. Mac users tend to provide their own technical support. People who buy PCs tend to purchase them with other people's money for use by third parties. Upgrading software and peripherals can be a nighmare. Buying new machines is an expensive form of technical support.
Yeah, I don't quite remember what I was arguing for at this point, but I think any simple explanation of why a platform has the market share it does can only be arrived at by generalization. It's all very complex, and everything plays a part, and it's easy to generalize, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Not that you were generalizing, or that generalizing is evil and must be avoided at all costs, but, yeah.

You get a nice, out of the box experiance with OS X.2, but is it worth it for the higher price and slower performance. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
Again, you are living in the past. Macs are now fast and a very good deal. Premiere is not a pro video app and is not optimized for the Mac, Imovie(a free app) and Final cut render much faster. I still have premiere but is very slow on the Mac and I won't upgrade. You can do audio and video on any computer but when you do it to make your living you have to look at the whole picture and that means looking at everything pcs included, and right now the Mac is a better deal overall.

Apple's LCDs are in sore need of revamping.
While their overall quality is good, their specs are more competitive with LCDs from last year than current technology.
I've been waiting since MWNY to see a new line released with some significant price drops...I'm still waiting...

What worries me is what would happen if Apple did produce a hi-end workstation that cost similar to Sun's and SGI's finest???I'm sure some would winj that it is too expensive etc etc..... that no one would buy it because it's so expensive, and they need to make it and sell it for $1600 cos they could make a dual AMD, with everything for that.... etc etc......
Personally I think Apple should produce an utra hi-end workstation, that costs thousands, but is basically the best out of the box pro creative solution you can buy...... that'd grab some headlines, and probably a far old whack of SGI's current new business........

Macs are made in the same massive Asian factories as the big PC manufacturers' are anyway.
And I disagree that all PCs are crap as you say they are. Windows has come a long way, like it or not, and PCs are not the BSOD-every-hour computers they used to be. They've gotten a lot better in recent years, and this is why so many Macrumors posters are worried and yelling at Apple to get a move on with the faster machines.

I agree with you 110% all the way! Like I was saying earlier, my XP machine has never BSOD'd me. I used to have a shirt a long time ago that said, Macintosh 89' = Windows 95'. Now longer can I make this argument. Also very good point about the components.
Bewarned, ppl are going to flame us, but I don't care. I think you and I are being completely honost. Many of us here really want to see Apple lead the pack again in hardware.

I don't run it any more as it apparently rips hard drives and I couldn't be bothered setting up the RAM disk method. It also turns my G5 into a bit of a wind tunnel some times.
BS. Where are you getting your info? The CPU does all the work, the HD only stores the info crunched to send back to SETI. I am coming up on my 1st yr anniversary and no problems. My main machine is the G3/300, 6 yrs old and still purring like the day it was new. Just make sure you have a good air flow through the box and everything will be fine. It is the peps that use PowerBooks that burn up your machine, probably because they don't raise it off the table to get air underneath it. I use 1/2" rubber feet and a small desk fan blowing across the unit to cool my PowerBook the fan hardly comes on. My temps never exceed 109F in my G3.

The 733Mhz G4 score is laughable to say the least, it's not even seperating the QS from the digital audio models and there's no way it's 63% faster than a 533Mhz G4 at anything. They both have a 133Mhz FSB and PC133 RAM, 1 has a 4 stage pipeline and 1Mb L2 at a 2:1 ratio, the other has a 7 stage pipeline, a 256K L2 at a 1:1 ratio and a 1Mb L3 at a 3:1 ratio and that cpu didn't use DDR on the L3 either because it was the PPC7450 not the PPC7455.
The speed difference between the 933Mhz G4 and 300Mhz G3 seems about right if you aren't using Altivec. Also on the speed difference between the 733Mhz G4 and 533Mhz G4 is also very possible correct. You have to take into account that there are several generations of the G4. So it is very possible that it is actually 63% faster. Baically they could be running the same Mhz but because on chip is a later generation some improvements it would still be faster. All in all I think these tests are fairly good at testing all kinds of chips though that's all it does. It really doesn't give you a view of overall system speed because of the missing tests for Altivec and such.

The trouble with DRM is that it often affects the average Joe consumer more than it hurts those it's intended to stop.
CDs that don't play in a PC annoy Joe Public who buys a CD and wants to listen to it on his office PC while at work. The guy who planned on pirating it can easily get round the DRM and go on his merry way.
DRM embedded in iTunes annoy Joe Public who burned a track onto his wedding video and now can't distribute it to the wedding guests without working out an authorise/deauthorise schedule.
The record companies assume everyone is out to be a criminal while the 'criminals' don't bother buying DRMed files or strip out protection and do what they want so just as many files end up on P2P networks and on dodgy CDs on street corners.
Therein lay the problem. Most people are using the music illegally.
The record industry is right.
In your own analogy of Joe Public burning a track on his wedding video.
Guess what? when he distributes those copies to wedding guests he breaks the law.
It's illegal for him to do that. It is stealing. He pirated it.
The problem is we have become so used to stealing that we don't recognize it as such anymore. We justify it away.
Almost no one would even consider it to be wrong if they bought a cd copied it and gave it to their friends. It is wrong. It's stealing/pirating.
