Yeah, but I didn't even really consider this a rumor. Apple has been pretty predictable using their rebate end dates as springboards for new products. And the odd configuration of its current display lineup needs help. Dropping the 15 and 22 and inserting a 19 just seems like a natural, and a fairly easy thing to do.
I know a while ago there was a poster from Europe who said that their rebates didn't end until Oct 31, so maybe a shake-up in the line will come then. But let's face it, it's necessary. The line is far too expensive for me to jump in, and it's not even top-of-the-line.
RogueLdr commented in another post that the ADC was what made the Apple displays so much more expensive. Is this that big of a deal? I mean less wires is nice, but does it enhance performance? Is it worth $500 and less viewing angle?
Looks like I'm still going to wait to update my system and my 22" Sony CRT, but with the new generation Gwhatevers rumored to come out next summer or fall, I'm going to need something to tide me over until then...

Now comes the delema between the 12 inch or 14 inch screen:p
If the 14inch compromises looks for the tad bigger screen then forget it heh.
The nearest apple store is a bit of a drive from me, so getting to play with one hands on is not an option:(

I think the idea of a 19inch screen imac is great but i just thought of one thing.The attraction of powermacs apart from the dual processor,extra hard drives and better graphics cards capabilities is the ability to add larger monitors eg.fabulous 22" or 23"HD displays.
If apple were to manufacture an imac with a 1ghz+G4,133Mhz bus and 19inch lcd it would probably have a better graphics card to drive the display and a superdrive as it would be the top model. in my opinion that could blur the line between the consumer and pro range.The price would go up i presume but it would still be cheaper than a lowend powermac with 17"lcd and you would also get more screen real estate.
Granted if your a professional you will most likely go for the gusto and buy a DP1.25Ghz but for the person who is lets say an incredibly enthusiastic consumer what would you prefer a dual 867Mhz with 17"lcd or a 1Ghz imac with 19inch lcd all in a neat little package(including superdrive+probably better graphics card).
This of course will only apply to someone who wants all apple cos they could just buy the DP867,add memory and cards and just buy a cheap,bulky crt(but then they will probably be plagued with a lack of space,high electricity bills and poor eyesight :)

Just wait for the 3 Thz G12 to come out, that should solve all you're woes.
It's can do over 100 instructions per clock cycle and it's got such a high level of artificial intelligence it does whatever you're just about thinking of doing with you're mac before you get a chance to start it by manipulating brainwaves. :D
Of course you could just hope for motorola to come out with a 64bit PowerPC chip with a 2Ghz clockspeed, 8 IPC and a DDR FSB. IBM might have the chip apple are going to use in the future assuming all the news of "no power4 for apple" are refering to the power4 itself and not the 64bit PowerPC based on elements of the power4 design.

I can't imagine why anyone outside a small niche would buy a tablet computer, so I can't believe Apple would bother. Bill Gates may think tablets are the wave of the future, but I see them dying like "internet appliances" did, because no one would buy what's basically an extremely limited laptop.

I don't think we will see dual initially, because the 970 should be fast enough to keep up with the market in a single processor configuration. However according to The Register the IBM 970 is AltiVec equipped, which means it does have the ability to multiprocess the way the current G4s do

The other day, I was having problems with an old account, Joshua D Thomas (just a nice, simple Screename, my name :)). Anyway, the quick fix was to make a new one..
So, I started a thread to assist me, after trying nearly 20 combos of my own.
I hate having random digits, numbers on my email addresses, so if I can't have just my name, I refuse, and go somewhere else.
Dogbone (poster in this thread), actually posted some really good ones, and would you believe it, I think 1 address out of at least 10 wasn't actually taken.
Someone suggested I have JDT, which I would love = taken. Then another posted suggested JayDeeTee (my initials, verbally, I dunno how else to say it :confused: ).. even that was taken.
Its madness. But I finally got one, just a little long.... deep breathe before saying it out loud...:eek: ... Joshua David Thomas. :D

If you have a G5..... :( Which has at least a 600 Watt powersupply, and then there is the Quad.... 1000 Watt powersupply, can you say owh ooooohhhhh
even if it has a 1000 watt PSU, it will almost never use that much electricty. 1000 watts ( 1KW) is the maxium. The g5 will probally only use around ~375 watts for normal use. If you start rendering movies, or doing processor-intesive work, expect those numbers to rise :D

iCam... the 5 mega pixel camera from apple, complete and done in the apple style... not only that, it comes with iPhoto... now freely available for the pc so as pc users can manage their photos and also edit them.. not only that, but the PHOTO STORE will come out.. letting users upload their photos to this store and have them delivered at a cheap price to their house for prints. various sizes like 4x6 will be available and what not.. what do you think? i don't think it is very far fetched.

Ok ok I might be a bit rough but the last time I played DVD player on Windows... whenever I inserted the DVD movie, there's a popup that say do you want to install this new DVD player app? This sucks too. :cool: Can you name me one of their good dvd player and I can check it out? Thanks! :p
When I had my PC, I used to use intervideo WinDVD (I think that is what it was called). Works a heck a lot better than Dell's version. :)
