I'm going to give it another shot. Didn't do much for me on the Playstation, bu then I got it at the same time as FF7 and the original Resident Evil (and Parrapa the Rappa :) ) so it didn't get much play time...

The AMD Opteron is set for early 2003 shipping, the AMD Athlon based on Hammer is set for late 2003 (but SHIPPING, not PRODUCTION).

So yes, months before the PowerPC 970.

Here's to hoping that all that rumored wattage and cooling capacity is really for a Power4 at MW. Here's something to think about.
We all agree that the current dual-gigs (and probably the dual-1.25's) don't need all that cooling and electrical power that is included in the mirror chassis, right? OK, now people are saying that it's because this chassis will be used for the new (power hungry and hot) G5's/Power4s.
So is it wise to put these fans and heavy duty power supply for the current PowerMacs when it's not needed? The cost will increase (good assumption) and the noise level is high (according to posts).
Something doesn't add up here. And me without my calculator ...

Once this intel beta finishes (I'm using it now but its only command line right now), we need to get Macrumors.com to have a front page article saying they finally completed a SMP mac version and that our team needs help again, because we have lost several people and I'm sure there are thousands of front page viewers that have never heard of folding before.

A Radeon 9200, or a newer Intel integrated chipset should be fine.

I love Konfabulator. One of the few small apps I didnt mind paying for.
Too bad Apple didn't include Rose, and just integrate Konfabulator into Tiger. But, business is indeed "dog eat dog".
At least I can carry the legend on with my PC ;)
hey...I wonder if our registration for the mac version will be the same, or if windows users will have to purchase it all over again?
EDIT
I've just downloaded it and installed it on my PC. It's EXACTLY the same as the Mac version. I love it. This was a very smart move, and I couldn't be happier about it. :)

God is telling you to ditch that game.....
Maybe so! But unfortunately there isn't a single Wii game I really want to play right now besides Super Paper Mario...maybe when games like Trauma Center and Call of Duty III drop in price, I'll get those.
How charged does it say your batteries are? Is it possible that your batteries are coming loose in the casing? I've had that happen once or twice when my batteries are about to run out.
Can't speak for the other days, but I can say that for today, the batteries were NiMH rechargables with a full energy gauge when I started playing about 2 hours ago. I also don't see how the batteries can become "loose;" they all seem nice and snuggly there, and the remote seems to work fine because I was able to press the plus sign to pause the game when my running back began to run circles...

you can set them up manually
if you start the programs in the terminal you can background the processes with ctrl-Z or an & after the command name. this way you can close the terminal and the programs still run.
it's kinda a pain in the ass even if you know what you're doing. i will put up some temp links tonight to my scripts, in the absence of any web site developing skills on my part

That's all fine and well, but I just want a version that doesn't require X11 and can print.
It can't print?! I knew it was limited, but really...an office suite that can't print isn't much use, now is it?

I was told close to Christmas, but that was heard from someone who I have no idea whether had accurate information or not. I'm in the position to buy one right now too, but it is so frustrating to not even find a place that MENTIONS that there is such a thing as a planned Mac 9700.
Anyone else?

So the script would be the easiest way to go.
It's the only way to go, if you want to work on more than one work unit at a time and since mc68k has done some good work on the scripts, it's also easy to get things going.

worst case scenario:
doubling of speeds and still stuck on G5, or next processor past the current G4
best case scenario:
best case scenario - more than triple the speeds and be on G6 or whatever the processor that will be two generations past the G4
two and a half years ago, the ibook was at 366 mhz and now it's at 700 mhz
the imac was a crt machine with a G3 and now there's a flat panel lcd and a G4 processor
things have moved forward, but not as fast as the PC world where speeds went from 600 mhz laptops to 2+ ghz laptops in the same price range and there are brand name PC desktops well past 1 ghz that sell for under $500

Another rumor I've heard going around is one of Intels Pentium 5.
We all know about the amazing 4.7Ghz P4 but it's actually not that much faster than a 2.5Ghz P4 because they added so many steps to get up to that clock speed.
In the P5 they tried to stop this troubling trend and found out, they could only get a 1.3Ghz P5, pretty much equal to the G4, without all those extra steps.
Amusing...
