The only real benefit the G4 has over the PPC970 is the L3 cache. The PPC970 really doesn't need it half as much though.

I love my 360, so I'd say buy it now if you can afford it. You can always trade up down the road if you are interested in the black edition. Cheers, T

I can't quite convince myself that this is necessarily a serious question, but assuming it is....
There are a number of contributors to infertility. One is genetic - some people just aren't as fertile as others, all other things being equal. Clearly, the laptop won't affect this.
The second is environmental - chemicals in the environment and diet which reduce sperm counts. Again, unless you eat it, the laptop won't affect this either.
Third is frequency of ejaculation. Do it too seldom, and the little guys get old and less mobile. If you spend so much time with the computer that you never... release, well, the laptop might be a factor. Do it too often, and there aren't enough of the little guys produced to keep up, as it were, so, if you spend a lot of time visiting non-family-friendly (ah, a deeper meaning to that phrase now) sites, then, again, the laptop might cause problems.
The final factor is the general temperature of the testicles. If you use the laptop on your lap without any padding and with it directly on your crotch, then, yes, it can definitely reduce fertility. Unless you live in arctic conditions, in which case it might just keep the little guys from freezing.

I think you are all overreacting. Have you actually read how it was cracked? Basically play your music, and record it. Replace Napster with iTunes, and the instructions would still remain valid. (but then the itunes drm was _really_ cracked, and it's easier to use hymn than to use the analogue loophole available to any drm scheme)
Personally I think that all the napster bashing is pretty sick.. The more competition, the better. I hate all monopolies, I don't care if it is a stylish monopoly.

Sparky, I have my G5 on a time switch to reduce power consumption. It only folds when it's on (obviously), so that's about 6-7 hours a day. So, now is your chance to come close to me! Overtaking me is a whole different story!! :D Also, does increase come in a dual proc setup and does it/folding start automatically at startup?
How much faster the console version is Vs. the GUI client is hard to say. It really depends on how fast your Mac is. If you have an older Mac (say G3) then it's a significant difference. You have a bit of overhead on your proc of the images, which aren't completely for the Graphics card. Your proc also has to process it, giving a bit of overhead. My G3 400 Mhz B&W had a lot of this overhead with the GUI client. Increase will also give a bit, but less, overhead.

I heard people on MR talking about it and thought it was a good cause. Hopefully it'll help them cure some disease or help with some important research at some point. I started a couple days ago and its really pretty easy and doesn't interrupt normal usage, so, why not?

Go for the PS2, and then save for the PS3. I don't quite know why this thread was created though... seems kind of like a no-brainer.

I havn't got around to reading the spec (not sure I'm that interested) but I assume it's some kind of "bit bucket" where the literal raw data off of the sensor gets shoved.
Adobe have the advantage of having looked through all the propriatry raw formats for the existing filters. I guess they spotted a lot of commonalities between them all and thought "blow this for a game of soldiers! Lets make our own version".

Doesn't OS X use Apple Java instead of Sun Java? If you try to install Sun Java, it just directs you to Apple's site. I did notice, however, that further down the article it says that the security hole hasn't been confirmed on OS X.
The article I read last week said that Mac OS X was not vulnerable, so I'm not sure what's happening with it. However, considering how you need an extra browser plug-in to use Java with something other than Safari, it might be trouble to run an exploit on Mac OS X.

Ya know, something has been bothering me about the whole 64-bit processors let you do 64-bit integers and larger address spaces. While the larger address space thing is kind of a big deal since we now have 1 Gig DIMMS and it won't be that long before we have 4Gig Memory modules. But the 64-bit integer thing is big whoop, who really needs to add 2 64-bit numbers. :confused:
This attitude is simplistic and it completely ignores what data is. 64 bit registers will allow you to double the amount of data you can process in one opperation. Take text processing for example. Instead of working on 4 characters or bytes in one operation you now can work on 8 characters. Take 32bit graphics. You load half of the data in the high 32-bits and the other half in the lower 32-bits. Take any bit of data of any size and you can chomp through it twice as fast. You have doubled your throughput without increasing your mhz or ghz speed.
