You people keep on telling that many PC's are a lot faster and produce less noice.
Now tel me where on the internet can I compare PC's with Macs, when it comes to speed. Where on the www can I find the exact speed of any PC in Gigaflops?
At the office I use a new 2.5 Ghz Pentium 4. And yes it's fast.
But sometimes it is harder to use, and that makes it slower in the end.
I do think that the gap between PC and Mac is closing more and more.
And maybe some day the mac will not be worth the extra money, you have to pay for it.

Do you guys know if there's any way to setup folding to run during the login screen and/or when a user's logged in but without them knowing (except, of course, for the 100-200% CPU usage)?
On a windows machine just run the FaH client as a service... there is an installer on the FaH site that will set this up automatically.

So before the deep breath of answering, it�s worth stating that I�m not up for a slanging match here, but I do find this topic really interesting and it would be good to get a clarified, multi-perspective build of the story :)�.
First, most of these books are written by people out side the community and done quickly to make a buck on the Steve Jobs name.
This book was co-written by the co-founder of MacWorld so I think you could probably say he was �in the community� when the NeXT story was unfolding.
The six months was correct as I couldn't remember the exact period off hand. But there was a settlement, and there was a non-compete clause for NeXT. And it was that non-compete that forced NeXT out of the desktop market... permanently.
Ok, but this article (http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=17445) says that the non-compete clause stated all NeXT computers had only (a big only of course but nevertheless) to be more powerful than the similar Apple product so it wouldn�t compete?

I was 16 and applied at an Apple Store here in MI and received a phone call asking me to come in for an interview. I only applied for the heck of it, I lived 45 minutes away, so it wouldn't be economically feasible. It's rare that anyone under 18 works there, but it IS possible. Give it your best shot. :)
Be aware that if you apply for a job "just for the heck of it", when you already know it's not something you're going to say yes to if you get the job, you are probably ruining your chances of getting a job there in the future. I hire in my department, and every time we have a job opening, we get enormous amounts of applications. It takes me days to sort through them and choose which ones to call in, and if I discovered that someone had wasted my time, I would not be happy.

Well my new dual 1 gig at work is so annoying we are all laughing about it. The louder fan turns on every 3 minutes and disturbs us all.
It is fine when this other fan doesn't kick in. I am in an AC environment too. What gives?

I have been using macs all of my life. My post is about the WoW effect. Do you think it ever Really fades. I just started using one of our old ibook's and cubes. The ibook is a graphite colored one. The cube has a 17 inch apple screen. When I used to use the ibook I got tired of it but since I started using it again I am still wowing and the cube is just wow. Has anybody ever lost the wow effect and just threw away/ sold there computer after some time of getting a new one. Not selling cause you need the money or want the money. Just because you dislike the computer.

They did settle on it a a few weeks back, so I'd guess they would.
Still with all the lies, they put out about rumble, its not going to look great, but at the end of the day, its one more feature for the PS3.
But what does force feedback for steering wheels have to do with a genric rumble feature, answer, nothing.

Despite the fact I love working in Mac OS X, in one way Mac OS 9 was always more friendly. Most applications just let you drag and drop them to and from anywhere you wanted as long as it wasn't one of the parts of the system folder (except Launcher). Now I have to worry about taking stuff out of my Library, bin, pub, Documents, and Home folder, and the whole system is scattered between a Library folder at root, a Library folder in the System Folder, and a Library folder in the users folder. Not to mention Eudora, Appleworks, and Office like to use the Users's Documents folder to store items. Still better than the System Folder where Eudora stored things in the past, but I can't tell Eudora to use another stored folder. The free folder structure of Mac OS 9 was better in the respect, you could think differently and scattered. Now is it System/Library/Sounds or Users/user/Library/Sounds? It gets crazy. Give me one place to store my preferences, and any place to store my documents, and let me put my applications where I want! Still I'll take X's stability any day over 9.

This is the worst game I've ever played. Once the cuteness wears off (in 5 minutes) it's boring as heck and has the usual Nintendo lame story to it. My friend told me it stinks, but there are some fun parts. Do methods of gameplay change? I heard you can play SMB as Bowser or something. So far it looks like a wannabe RPG (like SM RPG, which also sucked) where I just press buttons at the right time.
Somebody convince me to keep playing this turd.
The good news is that I picked up Metroid Prime 2 at the same time. Can't go wrong with Metroid!

After getting over the STEEP photoshop learning curve, I can honestly say that Adobe created a hell of a piece of software. All the features and great organization (once you learn it).
I am morbidly afraid of X11...I just do not want to bother with another gui system ontop of a gui system (think emulator)...thus I've never touched GIMP, though I've heard good things.
Looks like now I'll get my chance (well maybe after this semester from hell is over).
