i am new to mac's and was just wondering if there was a bittorrent type of program for mac's or any other software where i can dl things?

If only people could work up a tenth of this kind of moral indignation over things that really matter, like poverty or racism. I despair that the only thing that seems to get geeks politically active is the threat that they won't be able to use their music illegally. It's sad, really.

I am in the same boat as you. I just sold my G4 533mhz in anticipation of the new powerbooks coming out. I also happen to be a college student and it pains me to be without a computer to call my own but I can wait. I think one of the biggest signs that apple is going out with the old and in with the new is that the $200 educational discount special that they are running ends on 9/25/02, hence an early october release. Cross your fingers, I can't wait (just hope I have the money by then)

If you are in university you can check out Facebook, similar idea but requires a .edu email address to register and all profiles are private until the you approve them as a friend (one of my gripes with myspace). I think this may only be United States though, not sure about international....
I have a myspace because an old friend on here (who is no longer) had one and said it was a decent way to meet people in your area and also broadcast/advertise for your own works. This has proven true for me on about the level I would have expected....I put in little and have taken out little. I've met 3 different people in my area (real life interactions) from having first met them on myspace....1 was psychotic and 2 were pretty cool. There are a lot of teenage drama queens (and kings for that matter), a lot of wanna-be haters, etc etc....if you search wisely it can be a useful tool I suppose.
All of the above stated, the pages are horrible and auto-play music/movies really bites. It does seem a bit slower on a Mac for whatever reason, but usually the pop-ups on PC end up equalling things out :p

Sounds simple enough - backup and replace 2 files in the .app package. However, this update hosed my AI install. Rolling back to the original files does not resolve the issue.

That's strange, the console version should be a bit faster then the gui version. Especially on older/slower machines. All of the cpu power goes to crunching the WU, there isn't a bit that helps the graphics card making the picture, so the console version should be faster.

For all the years and years they royally scr*wed their loyal customers in tech support, for all the years they charged a grand for an "upgrade" which, essentially, it's been the same program since 1992, for scr*wing over OS X for a couple years, and finally for having after introspection (or perhaps retrospection) having some of the most effed up menu placement and key commands this side of any M$ product, good riddance Quark, hope you die and go the way of so many pigheaded companies. an external would be a great choice for the majority of powerbook g3,g4, imac g3,g4, emacg4, powermac g3 g4. already and use and those not sold yet. why let 3rd party suppliers like formac make all the money and if a copy of idvd is included and compatability with dvd pro also. this would be a huge seller if apple branded and supported for between 299-349. it would add to apples bottom line like the ipod. if the looks are stunning and apple adds windows capability i can see the profits. I for one would by one. and when they get it small enough for the titanium they can put it in the topline one. while still giving all the ibooks, and powerbooks without one an external option. great for dubbing and can get its power from the firewire bus. Hook up an ipod to it for istant burn of 4.7 Gigabyte of mp3 files

Well, the printer had a mail-in rebate to make it free too, so I had to wait a few weeks for that check. I was actually surprised it came, since I had long since returned the iMac and was waiting to get the Mini. But Apple never asked for the printer, nor did it not send the refund. So the printer was free without the iMac.
Why is why I didn't get the second printer when asked. Because I felt bad about it. Which is why I started this thread. Okeedokee everybody? Clear enough?
i would think the printer company (i'm guessing its a epson) would see the lost and not apple.
I'm more amazed that you were able to return the computer since most rebates require cutting out the UPC off the product, and most stores will not take back a product without the UPC.

Funny you are talking about price drop when apple raised prices on all there models here in Holland from the 1st of October!
It was about a 4% increase across the board...
This does not help the "Dutch" people do the "Switch", I don't get it, why are we paing so much more for Mac's in Europe when PC prices are not that different with U.S. ones.
