Leave out the smilies and people think you're having a blah day, put them in and it's a smiley war.
What do you expect from a rebuttal to MacBandit's previous comments on creating a blah post and stomping on peoples dreams? ;)
Now KC wants to see the dancing pink elephant ... sorry can't do it, he's drunk right now. :(

Music is too expensive, and the music industry doesn't do anything to fill the needs of the consumer - a aac file doesn't cost a penny to produce, unlike the CD, so why is a aac file so expensive? The music industry doesn't allow to sell mp3's - which is the format most likely to be accepted by the comsumer. At least Sony know now that mp3 is the future - their products now play mp3, unlike half a year ago. Mp3 is the most common format, my car radio plays it, my iPod (which harddrive crashed half a year ago) plays mp3, my laptop - everything, even our dvd player, plays mp3. Why in gods sake should I buy a aac file? It doesn't play on anything than the iPod ant my Powerbook. Every vendor has it's own format. I wouldn't buy a song in apples itunes music store. Sure, maybe apple would sell mp3 if the music industry would give them the rights to do so, maybe not, but who cares? I don't buy aac, I don't buy wma - mp3 is the past, and the future!

I started folding for this team in 2002 and I don't have the most points since I started back when the points weren't very high, but my machines have done quite a few work units over the years.

Office 12 will be a simultaneous release for both PC and Mac. It's supposed to be the first release achieving feature parity between the Mac and Windows versions.
Currently Office:mac 2004 is, in my opinion, a superior version to Office 2003 for Windows.

I think that this is correct, if this report is correct:
http://www.macedition.com/nmr/nmr_20020914.php
It goes into how Apple is going to use the new IBM Power4 chip in thier Powermac's, but it will not be released until later in I am thinking MWNY with a shipping date of a month or 2 later. It sounds like it is pretty on the nose.
The only thing is, if Apple does use this chip, then we will know in October, becasue on October 15, IBM is going to be talking about the new chip, and most likely they will talk about when it will be available. Let's hope and pray that they say by Janurary, then we can start the new year with 64-bit Power Mac's!
What do you guys think?

Dr. Oetker frozen foods are the current winners on the crap dubbing scale. Don't you just love the way they cut from the actors mid-sentence when the lip synching between German and English just gets too embarrassing?
Dr. Oetker - A Little Taste of France*
*Made in Germany
:D
I saw these for the first time yesterday - truly awful. :)
Also there only seems to be about three actors who provide the voiceovers for all these ads. Even without seeing the shoddy lip synching, you can tell it's a foreign ad because you've heard those slightly smug tones so often before.

I miss MS Visio and MS Project (or whatever its called with the Gantt Chart) There are Mac apps that kinda do the same thing - but just not as developed.
F
Ditto. With them and Frontpage in Mac Office 2007 I'd be set - as it is it looks like I'll be running my MBP with XP when at work. Can't do without those apps!

With all due respect, when Steve asked those guys to join Apple they really should have. It'd have been a steadier job.
Mac OS X shareware development is a steady job and it is more fun than working for a large corporation. I think you can figure out how I know this. :)

Every month at work, we purchase a new PC to upgrade general office computers. Right now, the typical boxes we are getting are 3.2GHz P4 boxes with 1GB of memory. The IT guy and I are debating the wisdom/stupidity of installing Folding on them, and switching back and forth every month between user names. We got the okay from the boss to Fold on a few specific boxes, so we probably won't do this...but it's fun to plot and plan anyway.:p

well you still remember them. so they served their purpose
I also remember those PowerBook ads with Gregory Hines & Jeff Goldblum. And those Performa infomercials from the mid 90's. It doesn't make them effective. I did think the "Think Different" print ad campain was great.
But the point of this thread is to actaully get people to ask Apple to actually show the machine and it's functions this time around.

I don't think that would happen. We've all learned our lesson. Besides being Old School isn't something you can be made to do, you just are.

what's wrong with macdailynews?Read enough user comments there and my remark to Earendil will eventually make sense. :)
It was sarcastic humor, if anyone even cares. Actually MDN has been relatively calm and civil lately, especially without the political firestorms.
Btw, that's a classic clueless IT story, Earendil. It's both sad and comical how their strict, stubborn Windows-centric antivirus policy insisted on making unnecessary hassles for you with controlling, fearful, reactive behavior that exposed their ignorance about Mac OS X. Any negotiations under those circumstances can be hopelessly frustrating but getting too pissed-off only seems to counterproductively fuel their delusions. Good "luck"!

With them and Frontpage in Mac Office 2007
Ack! FrontPage! Microsoft should abolish both FrontPage and Publisher, two of the worst applications ever written. I can't think of any Web app that generates worse code than FrontPage (except maybe GoLive 5 or iWeb) and Publisher is the bane of any real graphic designer's or professional printer's existence.

I can't see Apple using anything but the new Radeon 9000 in there next Powerbook revision. It is the only laptop card that should be used at this point. Compaq was one of the first...if not the first. It will be in all other high end PC laptops soon... Apple doesn't have a choice really.

Worked at a game store back when the Xbox came out. We got a preview machine and some games. Got to spend the whole night in the store just messing around with it. That was pretty cool. Don't know how much I'd want to work over night. Rather get my console and go home to play it.

Crackdown, along with Saints Row seem like petrol station breaks before the destination.
But have you played crackdown or simpy pre-judging it on what you 'think' it plays like rather than actual experience ?
Remember Crackdown is by the same guy who came up with GTA.
But both should not be compared - but.... as Edge™ put it. CrackDown is where 'freeroaming' should have begun. It's all about the self exploration and free will to do anything and rewarded for doing so - than ANY gta game has done.
Crackdown is more 'fun' than GTA. You are not limited by do missions A, B, C, D, E, F before you can get to next area. It's far more 'free' that GTA has ever been.

Yeah... it really pains me to uninstall firefox... that extra effort of dragging it to the trash is just too much. They should spend their resources making updating save me 10s on mac instead of security and feature updates... *sighs*

Yeah, I mentioned how ridiculous this is before.
I guess that means Guitar Hero II is *exclusive* to 360!
Haha well if it has features exclusive to it, then it should be called exclusive! WOOT! But you can't deny it's exclusive-ness for the PS3 right now :p All I care about is if they indeed fix the difficulty, and have 1080p.
Since I never finished the original, I'd buy this one. I never owned the original, just borrowed it from a friend. It was an awesome game, just never had the time to play it...

Had you used both systems equally you'd find your statement is quite wrong, both in facts and in reality. If you can't contribute intelligently and without shouting your uneducated opinions at others, then go else where. OS X is the future of the mac and if you really don't like i then go buy a PC and troll there message boards...

Could this perhaps signal a shift away from the education market for Apple?Yes and no. This divestiture allows Apple to concentrate on its core compentencies. As part of the agreement, Pearson will develop educational materials for distribution via iPod. I think that Apple's sale of PowerSchool to Pearson is a win for Pearson, whose core business is education. This deal will accelerate the adoption of the iPod as an education tool, which is very much a win for Apple.
