64-bit color depth would presumably mean 16-bit fields
for RGB and one for Alpha
fwiw, The typical color space for film and high-quality
broadcast video is 10-bit per channel (RGBA = 40bit).
Now whether that 10 bits/channel of info is contained
(or how it's calculated) in 16-bit space (or 40 in 64)
I'm not entirely sure.

Can I just have a pricedrop, please... :(
Or get rid of the Core, replace it with the Premium, and let that get replaced by the Elite.

Echoing a comment I saw elsewhere, why doesn't someone just hire this guy. It probably costs more for Apple to sue each person than it would be to hire them and keep them busy fixing these problems internally.
This is one of those nuts who thinks he is for the common good, and has already won lawsuits against movie companies challenging his dvd-decryption software (software doesn't decrpyt and distribute movies illegally, people do) I bet he is VERY careful not to cross the line, and he probably has a great lawyer ;)

Is there something similar for Cancer or other important diseases?
Now there's the right question to ask. I know you already got your answer, but folding@home is way more practical and useful than SETI, which relies on a completely made up formula with no known variables to look for other, intelligent life.

This tablet PC is just a repackage of the tablet PC of 10 years ago. Nobody bought it then, and nobody will buy it now.

Well there is a marketting problem because "gigahertz" is kinda a cool sounding word, whereas "gigaflop" sounds like a joke

As Mac developers go, I like the Omni Group and think they're a shining example.
The Delicious Company, from the people who used to work at Omni, also looks like a promising fun bunch.

Don't forget to factor in that the PowerMac's power supply is essentially a power brick for the ADC monitors - so you need to factor in a some for that. The XServe doesn't perform this function it's VGA/DVI.
But the math doesn't hold in any case the power supply on my G4/400 AGP w ADC has 8A stamped on the back and 10A stamped inside, and it definitely isn't rated too extremely high in continuos watts output.
Anyways the people who have looked inside the machines say they're stamped 400 watts.

Just saw this on slashdot. That place looks pretty incredible, though I'd much prefer to work in Apple's Mac lab. :D

its a common problem deal with it
Oh, I'm so sorry to bother you with my silly little Wii problems. I suppose I should be just fine with controllers that don't always control. While I'm at it, I should be just like you and accept that my mouse doesn't always click, my keyboard doesn't always type, and my TV remote doesn't always change channels.

What an idiot. I like where he claims that a mini with a keyboard, a $150 monitor, and XP, would cost $1,100. Just like the rest of the column, it doesn't add up.

all that is is a demonstration of how the graphics engine treats objects in OS X. its basically showing the layers and different renderings of the screen...they throw the dock in, then quicktime, the quicktime window, then the movie itself inside the window. its just a visual demonstration of the interface, its capabilities, and how it works.

Until the 10.4.6 update you could use InCrease on Intel Macs and set that up to fold using both cores. I guess you could always go back to 10.4.5 and run that! It'll be really slow on an Intel Mac, btw. My girlfriends 1.25Ghz G4 Mini will do a work unit in 3 - 5 days, and my Intel Core Solo takes about 30 days. Ridiculous.
I've since started using the BOINC client which is a UB, and doing SETI and Einstein@home, since both seem to run well on the Intel. No folding thingie for the BOINC client yet, though, I'm afraid.

As i recall the GUI version only uses 1 CPU. Go into activity monitor and check to see if both are running full tilt. Also if you ever log out then it will not be running when you use the GUI version.

You might consider Apple Developer Connection student discount. I have posted a couple of times recently about this.
