Okay, for sake of argument lets say this actually happens. Moto releases what will be known as a G5 and Apple puts it in the iMacs, eMacs and iBooks. So since the 1.25s are going to be shipping soon, (way before January) then the iMac will have a G5 of say 1ghz and the Powermac will have a dual G4. Now what looks more powerful on paper, a G4 or a G5? Here's what I predict:
In January, Apple releases new hardware. The Powermac line gets converted to G5 while the 'i' line gets a speed bump. They will recieve a low-heat-and-power Moto G5 or maybe a further derivative of the IBM Power4 in the summer.:)

I would go with a Mac after Leopard comes out. PS3 is fun but computer much more versatile.
I think it comes down to.
Do you want a computer or a console?

Remember back to iPhoto? Apple listed all these compatible cameras, but there were few rumors about Apple developing a camera. Have we seen one yet?
This iPhone ***** is exactly the same thing. Apple creates an iApp so that you can transfer files back and forth to and from certain phones. I'm sure that the list will continue to grow. But I don't think you will see Apple developing a phone, much less, a camera.
Plain and simple: Apple didn't make a camera for iPhoto, and they won't make a phone for iSync. Period.
I couldn't disagree with you anymore. Take the ipod's success as an example of I-tool devices. The same would happen with an apple camera or phone. If apple was to create these two with the same easy of use, great design and innovating features. All these features are already available in jaguar and they are capable of bringing the best camera or cell phone outhere. Just as they have created the best MP3 player. Nobody is 100% sure this devices will be produced but their success is already a given. This success at the end translates into profit for apple. So they should for sure go ahead and bring those devices to consumers. I can see a future apple devices compatible with apple and windows selling in best buy and other big electronic stores.

How long does it take for a user to appear on the Folding@Home statistics page? I started folding at work today and I was trying to see make sure that the points are being recorded properly and that they are going for the MR team.
I have one machine running now, which is my PC at work, but I am going to be adding another 5 older PCs once I have the time to get them configured. Some of them are quite old/slow, but I figure that something is better than nothing.

So last night I was checking my email after work and my computer makes a weird beep. I realized that the sound is made by Connect360 when a connection is made to an Xbox. I opened the program and it says my 360 is connected and media is being shared with it. This means that whoever stole my 360 is still in range of my wireless network.
Got in my car with my laptop and found the range on my network is a bit larger than I had expected. About 8-10 houses on my block get at least some signal from my network
This morning at 5am, my 360 connected to the network again and I decided to take a walk around the neighboorhood to see who was awake. I found two houses within range of my network that had a blue glow in the window from a TV. When the 360 was disconnected from the network about 30 mins later, I walked back around and there was one house that no longer had the TV on.
I'm going to call the police department and talk to the officer that has been handling my case. I'm pretty sure I don't have enough information for them to get a search warrant but I'm getting more confident about actually getting my 360 back than I was three days ago.

I've been really busy, and the guy who the dual core belongs to was kind of iffy about it at first, but I've got it going now.

When my display was set to 1280x960, the animation chops up every now and then, mostly during the turning when it switches sides...
How can I take the menu for this out of the iTunes menu bar? It's already cluttered as it is and it's starting to intrude into my stuff on the right of the menu bar.
Per the handy Read Me file:
Uninstalling JewelCase
1. From the JewelCase menu select JewelCase > Preferences.
2. Click the triangle in the lower-left corner of the window, and click the Un-Install button.

Doable?
If you had a professional company do it. But as yg17 said, it wouldn't be cheap.
If you do this though, you must have a deafeningly loud siren; no security system is complete without one. :D

I've had the program running for many days now -- and it claims it will take another 8 days to complete a WU on a 1GHz G4.
This seems insane to me somehow.

i'd like to try it out some more but have a few questions.
1. can you import from mail.app and back to mail.app?
2. can you get hotmail via a script or something like you can with mail.app?
Apparently, you can't import directly from mail.app. It will allow import from .txt, .csv, and tab-separated files, as well as LDIF files. There does not appear to be an export.
However, if you're concerned about whether you'll like it or not. Run the two in parallel for a few days, having the messages deleted from the server after a few days, so they both pick up the same e-mail.

it would certainly seem that way. i wonder if it's the source that shut up (or found a different place to talk to), or the source was found out and fired, or think secret is just scared to produce any real rumors anymore... seems like they may as well just call it a day.

Lucky you, having a Mac Pro I presume! For now, folding is simulated trough Rosetta, it isn't native yet for the Intel procs. So for a quad core the best app you can use is Increase, it uses all four cores.

I feel slightly insulted, as noone here expects me to have done any research. After clicking the "Create trial acount" button in the teaser, it leads you to an error page. You click "Return to Main", whereafter you click the "Create Accoutn" button. Then you agree to some license stuff, and it then asks for the auth key here (https://signup.wow-europe.com/authkey.html).
Now I'm confused. The create account button says, it is for excisting guest costumers, who decide to purchase a full acount. I don't understand this, as I the see nowhere to create a trial account.
EDIT: Problem solved. I got the trial key he got from Burnign Crusade. Thanks a lot for your replies. :)

Seems like a looooooooong time to wait for the top of the line mac
that's two months+ away and by then, tibook may be at 1 ghz and have 64 MB ati video card or ddr ram...or both
...and that may steal high end sales since there must be a lot of pros who are contemplating a tower or a tibook, now that laptops are truly desktop replacements

Anyone think that this has anything to do with the fact that Xservers arent out for Apple yet....?
no I dont. it all in how much does it cost compared to how fast and how much work can it do.
then you go to the solution that has the best raito. Apple solution may of been better per computer but dell ratio was a lot better so in the long run dell was the cheaper better solution to go with.
On top of that OSX extra are worthless to them for the rendering farms because chance are the software the farm is using was coded for linux so it not going to work as well on OSX. So now you everything down to the hardware cost. now it goes even cheaper to go dell since it might be easier to dell to drop the OS part than for apple to do it. All Pixar wants is hardware. The software from the companies is worthless since all of it is inhouse software and dell may be a lot more willing to work with spiecal request than apple.
On top of that Dell can deliver the products faster and when they say they are going to deleiver them. Apple on the other hand has a long history of delaying shipments and having longer shipping times to begin with. And as I said before dell was more than likely willing to work with the speical request than apple because they are a larger company it is easier to handle these huge speilized request.

well if i assume this correctly, if you are logging onto one of aol's servers to use the aim service then this will apply regardless of the application you use. its all server side logging so you are basically screwed either way. but would this be basically a violation of your privacy?

Uh huh. Did you ever use some of the early IBM mice. Three buttons, over-sized, bulky and purley hopeless. I agree that the puck-mouse wasnt the best mouse ever, but it was easy to use. All you had to do was apply good ergnomic technique and hold your hand above the mouse not rest it on the mouse. simple.
You just didnt like it because it was different. Do you like OSX??? Its different.
