It'd have to be the Video iPod for me. All those threads a while back just go ton my nerves because there was a such a lack of evidence and annoying speculation.

dve 150w: 4a
astec 160w: 5a
sparkle 235w: 7a
macase 250w: 8a
fki/enhance(iirc) 250w: 6a
deer/l&c 250w: 6a
emacs 250w(redundant): 6a
sparkle 350w: 10a
pcp&c 5/700w: 10a
notice a tight (ie, something that can be used as a point to reason from) mathematical correlation here? what's that? no, neither do i, really. but i can easily go pull a dozen more sample points...
In other words, READ THE WORDs PRINTED ON THE POWER SUPPLY and stop trying to use formulas.
The XServe Power Supply does not equal one from a Mirror Mac (IT FEEDS the MONITOR in addition to the computer).
And if you don't understand what I'm saying then ...

Did anybody see the SNL skit about people trapped on an escalator, convinced there was no way out until rescuers arrived? It was hilarious. This incident had the same feeling of silliness to it, even though in this case it was real and must have been very unpleasant for the trapped shoppers.
Apple really should have compensated those people, even if just for the good publicity or lessening of bad publicity.

While both Solaris and OSX are Unix OS's, that does not mean that OSX can scale as well as Solaris any more than it means that Solaris can run the OSX interface (which it obviously cannot).
The fact that OSX is some sort of Unix means a lot less than you seem to think. It is good because it means it adheres to certain standards, but it says little or nothing about the machinery that makes it go.

Of course not and there is it's primary downfall.
I don't care if its 4x times faster (of course it really isn't) if it doesn't run OS X, I and I suspect most of the people here wouldn't want it.
Enjoy your new laptop.

edit:// furthermore, I think a lot of the reason MySpace has gotten the reputation it has because it's the latest scapegoat on all the 20/20 investigations. People have been diddling children on the internet (and IRL!) long before MySpace was even a thought.
Exactly... when I was growing up 20/20 was telling parents not to let your kids out of the house due to the fact that "strangers with candy" will abduct them. Now that our kids are locked in the house, NOW it seems that they can't even use their computers!
Next thing you know video games will be bad for them! Oh wait...

why won't anyone just admit that the only reason the new cases have such big fans, heatsinks, and vents is simply because they are overclocked 7455s that need the extra cooling?
whenever the G5s (Power4 or something else) come out they will most likely have a completely new case design to match Apple's contemporary use of brushed metal for pro machines and white translucent plastic for consumer.
the new cases seem to me to be an interim solution until better processors are available... or maybe not.

I hardly ever use Safari, Firefox all the way. For me it's faster, and much more functional (extensions!!!!).
Totally. Even just simple things like how you have a choice of search engines (I prefer Yahoo to Google). And how the look and feel is so customizable, so you could make the interface look More safari-like if you wanted. Though I actually prefer the Firefox interface to Safari's. Heck, I even use Thunderbird instead of Mail.

I use Mozilla and Chimera more often than not and sometimes iCab and Omniweb sprinkled in. There is almost no reason to use Explorer anymore.
They're not more like 3ghz laptops.. maybe 1.5.. that's it. Unless you're using photoshop, which is G4 optimized beyond belief.
And IE is a heck of a lot FASTER than Mozilla. I donno what's all this obsession about browsers anyway... the internet is still the same.

As a publicly traded company doesn't the Board of Directors have a obligation to run the company to the best of their ability and make the shareholders money.
In the later aspect they're not doing so well.
But yeah, the company can't just quit, they have contracts and orders, as well as debt. Contracts include sales orders ... but also warranty service and everything else you can imagine.
There is no magical switch to flip. And the government probably wouldn't let them anyway because AMD would gain monopoly power in the industry of chip manufacturing and well thats not really something our government is supposed to embrace.

Why would the processor trigger it? It's the same processors as before except the 1.25s and I don't think they put out that much more heat.
I do think you will see hot swappable drives but not in the fassion one would think. When the next version of Firewire comes out I see internal drives eventually using it. So that will make them hot swappable.

PC equivalents??? If you are talking about the Profile 4, it has no DVD, no 60 GB hard drive, no DVD burning, and is slower.... yes the 2 Ghz Pentium IV is slower than 800 Mhz G4. Oh and the screen of the Profile 4 is nowhere as adjustable as the Flat Panel iMac. What a joke..."PC equivalents." The profile at first sounds better because they use Mhz, but then when you actually look at it, the software is worse, it is coming from a company that won't sell abroad and is near financial ruin, and I could go on and on...it just isn't worth it. You show me one PC that is equivalent to the Flat Panel iMac in terms of ease of use, flexibility of hardware and software, that betters it in specs at the same price one to one, and I'll show you something you missed.

You'll still have plenty of fun without the social elements. I personally recommend finding a friend to play with, someone you know IRL, as I really really enjoy that a lot more than when I used to play solo - but it's possible to ignore everyone else in the game and still enjoy it :)
