There was a report on the news last night (can't remember what it was about) but the graphics consisted of the facts of the report being placed onto a LCD monitor. A nasty generic one, but with an OS X wallpaper overlayed..... sneeky Beeb!

I think the Apple is really taken from the Apple that, according to legend, fell from the three and inspired Newton to come up with the laws of gravity.
Just look at the original Apple logo, the apple has a prominent position even
agreed....oh and it looks really good.

No they won't. WMP's been able to play video and music from the WMP library since version 7, which was a whopping 25mb or 30mb download for windows 98 users over dial up.
I really wish Apple would spice up their UI though..it's so bland.

All you have to do is go to the layaway department and ask for some shipping foam or polyester paper or you can just keep the one that comes with your notebook!!  :p ;)

How long has this been up? And who edits it? Could you imagine someone buying one and not realizing it was a mistake and then complaining? They'll need to fix this fast......

A G4 is not a just a G3 with an AltiVec unit. The G3 doesn't fully implement the MESI cache-tagging protocol, which is necessary for multiprocessing systems. (The G4 actually implements a more advanced model known as either MERSI or MOESI.) (One company did come out with some kind of a multiprocessor G3 machine (non-Mac), but it was an ugly hack.) Also, the G4 has higher floating-point performance because I think it has twice as many floating-point subunits.

Dell is putting a little pressure on Gateway with this. A detente with Apple is just a temporary measure.
Not having the premier MP3 player is a disadvantage in Gateway's goal of selling consumer products via its retail stores. In a way, Apple and Dell are "colluding" to accelerate Gateway's downfall.
Gateway made a mistake with the iMac comparison ad.

Is this the one by Hudson too? They don't normally develop poo. Another game I wasn't planning on getting gets a bad score :o I wish they stuck this into a Wii- generation game (Wii Fly?), gave it a decent multiplayer and then it might have appeal.

The real question on SGI is do they *really* offer enough to be attractive to Apple as a purchase. I can see them pushing SGI out of their own market but buying them, I don't know.

I'd say that combining teams would be pretty good. As a whole we're not going to increase much the way things are, combining will definitely give us a leg up. Either way i plan to keep folding  ...although i'm down two processors now :(

Microsoft could scrap their OS, and build a new one from the ground up. I know they have to provide legacy support but if microsoft said all of the companies (software and hardware) had to rewrite to make compatible, they would all do it. eventually.

I don't like the page. The icons don't make any sense. They need labels.

It's been "dual for ages" because that's the only way for Apple to remain competitive using Moto's chips.
If the PowerPC 970 performs as well as it's rumored to, the dual/quad scenario is not neccessary for performance equivalent to the x86 platform.
Dual is still a good candidate for the top end, but keeping prices lower w/ single CPUs is the way to go.

Is it against the Mac OS X EULA to install it on any non-Apple computer?
Possibly, but the terms are written in such a way that it's not very clear that it would be a valid prohibition.
In that case, CherryOS and PearPC users are criminals.
If it's even binding, ignoring that type of license provision would be a civil, not criminal, thing. It's not piracy if you legally obtained the number of copies of software you are using. Apple can rightly refuse to support it, certainly.

i think the real issue is that DDR RAM costs considerably more per MB, esp at what apple charges. they would probably have to up the high end to 3400$ to go DDR, and they know a lot of people would hate them for that. i don't think they will go DDR.

you forgot to put *** CONFIRMED *** anywhere in there.
Try sending it Mac OS Rumors for their weekly update of meaningless facts, speculation and old news. It might pep the site up a bit :D
Okay, that was cruel, I'm sure a lot of people still go there purely for the entertainment value.

The only 'risk' they were taking by bringing back Jobs was the risk of actually having a successful company.
Change is not risky. Not changing is what's risky.
Er no - not exactly. Jobs was actually surviving on Pixar money and NeXT was going down the toilet - it was just the software that saved it. Jobs spent pretty much his entire first fortune on keeping those two companies (Pixar and NeXT) alive.
He had failure after failure with things like the NeXT cube and workstation, despite them being great pieces of kit.
If Disney hadn't stepped in to fund Toy Story then it could have been a completely different story for Jobs, NeXT and Apple (though I reckon he would have surfaced somewhere else if that had all collapsed).
