Uh. Law of averages and law of means are the same. :p
Averages or more scientifically proper--means--by themselves are worth almost nothing in real life statistics except as a "point" in here and there, but IMHO the median is more significant than mean. I have yet to see a normalized distribution, a linear regression, a standardized distribution, or anything other than just the mean. If everyone used SPEC [http://www.specbench.org/] to benchmark computers, it would make life much simpler in benchmark statistics. Now to find out in a pretty much standard benchmarking suite [SPEC] what σ [standard deviation, in this case] are for all computers measured to figure out what area the Power Macs are in--in percentiles and compare to the rest of the computers tested. Now that'd be a lot more significant.

DO NOT install this bad boy if you still have work to get done for the day. Install it before you go to bed. It may sound odd, but Tiger runs slowly for the first eight hours of uptime or so because Spotlight is indexing the hard drive. And in addition to that, users need to try and not run any apps while spotlight is indexing because it puts undue stress on the hard drives. After spotlight indexes tho, WHEW! Flaming. Everything I do is just that much faster, and H.264 is the absolute bomb. Less than 2 megs per second for way better than DVD quality video. Anyway, the 29th is coming.

So I looked in my brand new (as of today) dual gig from macmall - who triples your ram on that model btw.
I had the 256 chip that came with the mac, and the 512 that macmall installed.
Go buy your machines from a third party already!

You can get it from Mac Garden (http://mac.the-underdogs.org/index.php?show=game&id=101).
Link at that site won't work for me. I can't wait to play it again. Remember when your wheel would break or some one got chlora?

Office 12 will be a simultaneous release for both PC and Mac. It's supposed to be the first release achieving feature parity between the Mac and Windows versions.
Currently Office:mac 2004 is, in my opinion, a superior version to Office 2003 for Windows.
As much as id like to agree with you on this, i cant...
Entourage falls far short of Outlook in many aspects.... :o
if there is feature parity in the next release i will be a happy man!

I've only been doing it since last month but the SMP simulations load you up with 1700+ pts per WU. I've just added my PS3 this week. By the end of next week I should be well within the top 200 on Team Macrumors.
I can only imagine what kind of damage could be done with a Mac Pro. Until they get around to updating them and I order mine, of course, and then I won't have to imagine anymore. :) 1700 points per WU!!! That's more then my weekly production! And I have two C2D and a G5 folding. Not 24/7, but still... It has taken me 5 years to get to the 170.000 points and over 2000 WU to achieve that. That makes you think, 2000 WU X 1700 points = 3.400.000 points! That's about 20 times as high. Those PS3 are seriously kicking some @#$*!!

1 ghz
256 mb RAM
500 mb hard disk space
3D Accelerator
A Radeon 9200, or a newer Intel integrated chipset should be fine.
well then it should be doable
only question left is powerpc support i guess but i don't know how yo uare developing and i can give it a try i just need the instructions, sources etc.

I have a qustion for you all. Is Apple going to introduce it s Xserve with AMD processors because they are better (and even so for the "just in case" situation if it ever arises with intel)
And are they ever going to change the names of their applications for example iLife to MacLife or something like that...
Changing iTunes to MacTunes would not make sense for windows iTunes users.
By the way Microsoft has universal drivers for its hardware to run on Macintosh computers.

This is very cool. A lot of speculation at Slashdot that Apple will upgrade the firmware to disable this software, but I don't see why they would do that. It doesn't hurt sales of Airport Express or iTunes music, so it seems like Apple would be happy to have it.

Actually, I put the blame on the ADC not for the price of the component itself(entirely), but rather for the limited customer pool that Apple can sell these monitors to because of its proprietary connector. Since they do not sell in high numbers, it costs Apple more per unit to produce, keeping costs high. If everyone went to ADC as the standard for monitor hookups, the Apple displays would be less expensive because they would appeal to a broader market.
So in my opinion, this has alot to do with the price disparity in Apple v. Formac, et. al. (Of course, there is also the part where Apple just charges more for their products because they are Apple!;) )

His girlfriend looks hotter now too. Little less "junk in the trunk" as far as I can see. He must still be at apple since his beach buddy has an OS X t-shirt on. His webpage also says it was recently modified. I wonder what he's working on now.... Someone email him saying we're starting his fan club....

If someone released a shareware app that auto-installed OpenOffice and all necessary components, giving you replacements for Word, Excel, etc. that you otherwise wouldn't have had the time/expertise to obtain, I don't think anyone would be angry about asking a $30 shareware fee. It would be worth it to some, not to others.
Both OpenOffice/X11 and NeoOffice/J (for Mac OS X) are, for a long time now, packaged in a self running installer doing exactly this.
And all for free.
See the Trinity site (http://trinity.neooffice.org/index.php) which gives entry to both version of the port and also much information.

While I did lean toward FF III(VI), It will always be III to me damn it! I had to vote for the original because I have such fond memories of this game. I use to play it on a 9 inch black and white TV as a child, over and over again trying different party combinations. When I found out how great the game looked in color I was agast. The remakes are ok but too easy, though origins on the PS1 lets you choose the original difficulty if you so desire. If the original intact game(ability to attack a dead target and all) was brought the Wii I would buy it immediately.

Also, is Tiger capable of using multiple cores?? I'm sure it is, but never really cared, since my eMac only has 1 cpu, haha.
yes, since the powermacs are dual-core, and most of the intel macs are dual-core. in fact, most modern oses are currently able to utilize multiple cpus/cores.
