Does anyone really use Illustrator CS to it's abilities to create vector artwork on the scale of photographic portraits?

I voted for late which puts an old school label on me as well :p , although I do no see myself as a truly old school member (I don't post that much, so people generally do not recognice me, I think).
But I do remember most of the members mentioned above, and I do remember when eye was the first to break the 700 post-mark, and nobody belived it was possible... :p

A lot of linux ditros work without a graphics card, problem is you might need embedded hardware that is designed to work without a graphics card.
Cheapest way to build a headless pc is to get a cheap ass dell (yes, i know im sorry!!! :( ) with cheap ass integrated graphics, cofigure the machine, and then once its up and running to allocate less memory to the graphics card and more to the OS to increase performance.

I know we don't need another Vista thread, but AnandTech have done a preview of it here - http://www.anandtech.com/systems/showdoc.aspx?i=2780
They spent a lot of time comparing it (mostly unfavorably) with Tiger.

I think at that price sticking in WiFi would be nice. As it has already been said, the DS has WiFi. Infact every video games machine (handheld and console) launched after Nov 21 2004 has WiFi...

Those Audion 4 preview skins are great! Pity they'll never see the light.

I would hope Steve would throw that thing at whatever moron engineer/ designer showed it to him!:D
I went to Radio Shack the other night and the store manager was tripping over himself to show me a new Sprint phone with *gasp* a color screen. I told him I was waiting for an OSX enabled phone from Apple. He said, "but we have a completely digital system built from the ground up."
uh, ok...

and 1.1 bugs will be in 1.2 gone, 1.2 in 1.3 ... and There is always a hope.
That's fine. They don't have to fix every bug, only the ones that affect me. Everyone else can suffer :D

it's more interesting than hilarious
Yeah, I typed that fast. What I mean by hilarious is some of the stuff you find -- not the site itself.
Here's what they say about iPod shortly after it came out in November 2001...
"Presenting iPod. The first MP3 player to pack a mind-blowing 1,000 songs..."
And they go on...
"The iPod has a large, high-quality liquid crystal display (LCD) for viewing up to six lines of text."
It's amazing to think about how much has changed in just 4 and a half years.

Ah, i can't believe i overlooked this...this can be accomplished with tailDash (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17833)
tailDash is a widget that uses the unix command "tail" to display any log/txt file on your comp.
Just select your unitinfo.txt under advanced and set the refresh for whatever (i have it set to 1) and voila...take a look:

When Team MacOSX was the number 2 Mac team (before the Apple article), it made sense for all the teams to unite under the MacRumors banner but no one really wanted to do it then, either.
It won't happen but it's an interesting idea that keeps popping up. At least, we've all shown that we're not dead and put some ugly little threats from Cows and Dogs to bed.

- Word's side-by-side simultaneous scrolling is a great new feature that makes comparing documents VERY easy. Love it.
This sounds really great, when you have the monitor space to read both documents. I'd love this on my iMac. :)

Wait, now I'm confused. You don't have to use a download from stanford to fold?
mc68k includes the console version of the folding application with the scripts, etc.
I'm using the graphical client from Stanford. Is there a better/more efficient version I should use?
When I was just starting I didn't want to have to mess with the trickier stuff, but now maybe I'll be able to.
And how would I go about switching from the Graphical version to something else without loosing my work?
Thanks
You can switch to the screen saver (the worst) version without losing your work. Actually, if you use the console version directly from Stanford, you won't lose any work but with mc68k's setup, I believe that it deletes or replaces the current work folder.
Of course, you should wait until the current work unit has finished until you switch at all.

DAM! I justed typed a whole long message about this and I pressed escape by mistake and it deleted it, I tryed to undo but no luck! So this is what i think in a nutshell. CD-ROMS are borinfg they should be optional, the optical drives should be removable and you should be able to change from a CD-ROM to say a SuperDrive, a CD-RW or a Combo Drive. The High-end should come with a SuperDrive and be 900mhz and have a 80GB HD that matches the iMac. The proccesser should be a highend G3 or a G4 :) These iBooks whould blow my Key Lime iBook FW SE away :D!!!

I really like the comment about commodity hardware being the solution...wonder how Steve enjoyed that meeting.Similar issues have been addressed before. Pixar buys a new renderfarm for each new theatrical production. Before Cars, it used a Mac-based renderfarm. The Mac-based renderfarm replaced a Linux/86-based renderfarm from a no-name company. The thing that you need to understand is that Pixar is not Apple. Renderfarms are specialized tools. Pixar buys the best available for the job at hand.

It's just Black with a few new things tacked on??
Come on, that's lame - 1080p or no. It's been years since Ninja Gaiden came out. Give us a proper sequel - new story, weapons, moves, characters, the whole nine yards.
True that they should have produced a sequel, but Tecmo is known for building upon already released titles (DOA2 had SEVERAL "remakes"). Hopefully if this sells well, they'll actually produce a proper sequel. I'm guessing since sales were probably okay with the Xbox version, they wanted to try the PS3 market for a change. We'll see what happens.

There are no photos yet..but afterdawn.com has reported that Toshiba will release a5GB Bluetooth HDD (http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/3440.cfm) ideally for PDA's, but that dosen't that the iPod should be left out... because it sports the same drive from Toshiba!!!
Even thou it states that "Toshiba doesn't have currently plans to sell the drive outside Japan" doesn't mean that we can't have hope!!;)
