Posted: 13 Apr 2011 02:30 AM PDT Sagaki Keita is an amazing Tokyo illustrator and artist who is strictly "all about the detail". Man, I mean making exact copies of traditional Japanese illustrations like The Great Wave off Kanagawa are hard enough to create without including a few thousand more characters just for the fun of it! His intensely composed pen and ink illustrations consist of thousands of characters, many of which are improvised. It's almost as if he's channelling his art like surrealist automatism. The crazy juxtaposition of fine art and cartoon doodles is awesome, looking forward to more. So far all of Sagaki's exhibitions have been in Japan, let's hope that changes soon! |
