How sure? You're just guessing. I'm guessing the same thing as you, but I want to "know."

The 12" iBook will remain in it's current form. I expect that if anything is done to the 14" it will get a 15" screen and a black case, labeled the iBook SE.

Sorry about the thread jack, but I'm looking into hooking a mini up to my TV. I don't have DVI on my TV, so I was thinking about getting the adapter that Apple sells and just going the component or S-Video route. Is this the approach you used? Does it look good enough for games/video/etc.?
Oh, yeah - this is a really cool plug in. I'm not usually a plug-in kind of guy, but this one I like. Makes for a great contest to see who can spin it the fastest.

thats pretty much what I did. I sent you a pm.

*Hugs her Firefox/bird*
I have five browsers at the moment. Five. I was having nothing but problems with my browsers (yes, even Safari--sorry) on my usual sites. Something would always be wrong or weird or missing. The only thing that showed everything as close to correctly as I can probably ever hope for was Netscape. But Netscape's so flaky. So I was bouncing around from one to another and getting really pissed, to the point of a near-nervous breakdown. And then yee-ha! I think someone passed me a link to a list of different browsers, and here I am. :) I'm using Firefox .10 at work and Firebird at home (haven't bothered upgrading any, and I'm on Jaguar). I just installed the upgrade at work the other day and added a couple of extensions.
Man, I've totally forgotten pop-ups even exist (except insofar as I mention them here). Pages load so fast. And with the exception of those stupid IE-specific form things, everything works. :)

It is hard to believe this was written when it was... this was 7 months after acquiring NeXT and he is saying:"Sales of Rhapsody are $0."The first developer version of Rhapsody was still almost two months away at this, what was he expecting?
More importantly, Apple was making money from NeXT software. Apple had released OPENSTEP 4.2 in January of 1997 and would continue to sell OPENSTEP, and NeXT versions of Enterprise Objects and WebObjects until 2001. While sales of Rhapsody (which didn't exist as a stand alone OS yet) were $0... sales of WebObjects at the time were a completely different story. WebObjects was (back in 1997) the only software of it's kind for the internet at the beginning of the net bubble. While I don't think Apple managed WebObjects that well after the .com burst, they were making good money with WebObjects leading up to that point.
Plus, this person seems to be unaware that Sun would have been willing to pay as much as Apple did (most likely more) to get NeXT. The thing is, NeXT wasn't for sale until Apple bought them. And Sun was throwing money around at anything back then (people even thought they might buy Apple), so had they been able to buy NeXT to secure their plans, they would have (they had just bought Lighthouse Design so that they would have a native office suite for OpenStep Solaris).
It is pretty bad when people make claims like they have some type of inside knowledge when they really don't. Had something like this been written today, I would have bet that Dvorak had written it to boost his numbers.

Leave out the smilies and people think you're having a blah day, put them in and it's a smiley war.
What do you expect from a rebuttal to MacBandit's previous comments on creating a blah post and stomping on peoples dreams? ;)
Now KC wants to see the dancing pink elephant ... sorry can't do it, he's drunk right now. :(

I have used PSPware since the app became available, although I use it rarely as I'm not doing a lot with media on my PSP. It works okay.

He just wants to play his music on Linux, is there something wrong with that?Yes.
I really don't think that it would be terribly difficult to port iTunes or Quicktime to Linux.Probably not, but are you going to whip out a check to pay for it? Software delevelopment is not free.

Because we are installing something for our non-techie friends and family members and don't want to spend forever building the darn thing, installing Fink, X11, the window manager, etc... and then having to support it when it goes boom:
I don't expect an average user to build it. I didn't. I just installed the binary distribution (.pkg if I recall correctly) of OOo, and X11 was already built into OS X. I agree with you that the use of an X11 application has greater potential for problems with a novice user, but the installation of OOo itself did not seem that different from many other installations I have come across.
As for the other comments on problems with OOo: points well taken. As I said, I am not really a heavy "office" application user.

So, we will have to keep this forum alive, thus it is better to talk trash then have nothing to say ;) Anyway, I installed one folding app on one new C2D today. Too bad it's only on about 26 hours a week, but should still give me 100 points per week extra. So I will overtake you RugoseCone, 4NJA, Redeye, CanadaRam, Issmit02, Atszyman, and a few others that I always had some sort of battle with... I'LL BE BACK!

I have better things to do than rehash a situation that I have no control over. Especially a situation that gets rehashed on a biweekly basis by generally the same individuals.
Still, four options await:
complain; then buy a PC
complain; but wait for what-ever-it-is-that-your-waiting-for
don't complain; then buy a PC
don't complain; and wait for what-ever-it-is-that-your-waiting-for
In the mean time, I suggest that we all prepare ourselves for the reality of faster machines by mastering all of the software that we already have in our toolboxes.
