but if you read all the post he is retarded, he keeps quoting these unlimited sources, and yet he seems to be a college student or something, how could he have 4 or five dependable apple sources?? He also said that they are releasing G4 iBooks along with the powerbooks... c'mon, dude is on crack. no way in hell there will be a g4 iBook AND powerbook unless the powerbook was dual (and we know that aint happening)

i agree with you here, but for me, 667 to 1+ghz would be quite a jump. nearly 100% speed increase. and yes, speed is not such an issue when opening a program, but doing high ends graphics work requires power.
the ti book is not for consumers who only surf and email. it is for pros who make a living with their ti book, their tool.

I'm sure you both realize that most applications that run in 32 bits now simply do not need any more bits, and so they will continue to be 32-bit for quite some time and possibly "forever". 64-bitness will only speed up certain applications, in particular those that need more than 4GB of RAM. Native 64-bit integers are also useful for a handful of tasks but I don't think thats a big deal.
AMD's Hammer is said to be faster in 64-bit code, but that is only because it gets more general purpose registers (8) that way as opposed to the pathetic 4 x86-32 has.

Dude, it's apple. you need to b*tch like anything to them to get it fixed. Ask to be transferred to second tier, yell down the phone, whatever it takes... You just have to be really $#!++y with them and then they'll co-operate. that's the only way i could get my base station replaced. trust me, i tried the nice approach, doesn't work, you've just got to be pissed off enough to make them want to fix the problem so they don't have to hear about it any more.

Pismos...bah!
The tibook will eventually be discontinued...but I don't think anytime soon. But then again, the "major" updates that people are expected for the tibook in january points toward the discontinuation of the tibook...that might mean a new processor;)
Even though the ti has its problems, it also has an appeal. The thinness of the ti is unrivaled by comparable PCs (the laptops with a 15" screen) Sure there are thinner laptops, but they all have 12.1" screen. The slot loading drive also give the ti a clean, no-nonsense look, very conservative, yet the thin metal look makes it sexy. The ti is nice right now, and if they discontinue it at paris (I highly doubt it), i'll be sorely disappointed.

You don't need to have the same identity as your MacRumors name (although it would make sense).
Oh, good point. Sorry about that, I was just saying what to do from personal experience/use of folding@home. :o :)

Wow, it really sounds like this is likely to use stolen code. Based on PearPC with lots of evidence--even while the author denies that!
I certainly wouldn't be giving them money until that is answered!
And is this actually much better than the open source PearPC anyway?
It was already proven by the author of PearPC a few months ago because there was some information that had not be changed from PearPC.
If it's only an edit to remove the original author's information, a re-compile and a GUI shell, that's not enough to charge for it and it shows poor ethics.

Is it just me? Am I the only person in the world who just doesn't see the benefits of Firefox? Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy that everyone else is happy with it but so far I haven't seen a need to change over from Explorer in XP. I don't use Windows all that much so I admitedly don't have a huge wealth of experience but still...
Ahh well, as long as SOMETHING erodes Microsoft's market share!
Maybe that Firefox embraces web standards rather than eschewing them? That is my reason for using it.

Hmm, yeah I think I've heard about that before. Thanks. I'll have to look around to see if there's a way to make it work with my mac, or I guess I could just use windows...

The main reason is that the designers don't have time to learn OS X and to figure out how to do things all over again...
This is true but it's also important for any creative to keep up with technical developments especially when the cutting edge becomes commonplace... I didn't force through an OS X transition at work until I had about a year of messing with it at home and had researched a number of issues. In fact, it was that experimenting that lead me to this very forum.
While it all comes out of my own time, I also see it as an investment in my career and it pays off. I would hate to be still wedded to OS9, a position I was in 2 years ago... InDesign is something I intend to spend a lot of time with over the next few months at home before trying to do a day's work with it.

Apparently they're waiting for the server load to go down a bit before releasing it through the auto update function. Presumably it'll self-update rather than direct you to the site.
I've seen a few like that but others I've seen have been corrected. Unfortunately, it looks like Gecko is more reliant on having good/correct HTML and JavaScript to work properly than most browser engines.
Huh? It has nothing to do with HTML or JS, it's a bug in the app itself.

I am running FAH on two computers and I checked to see how many points the projects were worth, and it turns out that the project is the same on both computers. Am I going to get credit for folding it twice, or should I have one of them start a different protein?
Thanks!
Mike
I am really really sorry this does not relate exactly to your question. However I have always wondered what exactly folding is. My understanding is its utilizing peoples home computers to do calculations of biological proteins.
What I am wondering is what exactly do I do to start folding and is there a thread that it explains it and two will this be alot of wear and tear on my 2 yr old PB. Will this strain my processor and hard drive to much?
Thanks!
Mike
