Creative is a dying company. Sad to say, but its quite true.
Their Sound Blaster products arent as good as they used to be, and Integrated Audio is getting a hell of a lot better. Hell, I dropped in a Live card in my AMD64, and then pulled it out because the Nvidia NForce 3 sound chip sounded better and supported more features, including Dolby 5.1, and the newest EAX.
Lets not even get STARTED on Creatives MP3 players.
I fiddled with a friends, and got confused with it after 30 seconds.
First time I touched an iPod, I was able to figure it out very, very quickly, compared to Creatives Zen Piece-of-s***.
Their sound cards are better than ever, offering Signal to Noise ratios comparable to ultra high-end stereo systems.
I've owned Creative products for a couple of years. First time I picked up an iPod, I found the circular touchpad annoying and hard to get used to. I did not find any improvement over, say, a Zen Micro. If you have problems with a Zen, I'd be surprised if you considered yourself competent with tech in general.

I think their mission statement is "make everyone except caleb johnston happy with their 1500 dollar investments".
Hopefully brick-and-mortar stores don't have to abide by the company's mission statement and will be able to fix everything to your satisfaction. Except for the shadow thing; you're on your own for that one (well, on your own except for the fine people who made Shadowkiller).

I think there is a good chance IBM will supply the G4 for Apple at some point. There may be contracts with Motorola we don't know about, so who knows when it would happen? Since IBM will have their 0.09 process working next year, a G4 from them may go over 2 GHz. :)
Motorola is also to be getting 0.09 with their new partnership or whatever it is. But that is Motorola. Likely Apple's chips will be the last to go 0.09, if ever. :(
So IBM may be the Mac's brightest hope for the PPC chip family.

Notice how AMD and Intel each have SIMD units clocking at well over 2ghz. In the case of SSE2, it can even do things AltiVec can't.
No they don't, at least on the Pentium 4, it takes 2 clock cycles to complete a SiMD instruction (I realise SiMD is many instructions at once but you know what I mean). Right now they've mananged to get their SiMD unit to 1.4Ghz while the cpu runs at 2.8. Personally speaking if motorola did this to the G4 and it meant we could have a 2Ghz G4 with the altivec performance of a 1Ghz G4 then that's a good thing, Altivec only helps speed up certain operations, a faster cpu speeds up all operations.

I'm sure if MS or Nintendo for that matter didn't pay up they would be calling FF a thing of the past as well. It happened to sony and we all know about it but now its on its way back and lets be happy about it.
Bless
Nintendo's rumble works in a different way to that of Sony and MS, so therefore didn't have to pay a cent to that company that eludes my mind right now.

Ditto what everyone else has said here... short domain names are cool if you can get them (I have "clayj.com"), especially since you can then have a short e-mail address (mine is "clayj@clayj.com"... it has the added distinction of being MY name at MY domain and it's easy to remember).
So true.
In my case, in the early days I was very lucky to get my first and last initial, which also happens to be my nickname.
It's a dot com address.
The total characters. including the @ and period, is 10.
Short and sweet! :D

>(MacUser1) I'd like a 17" (or 19") widescreen, with a GeForce 4 MX or an ATI RADEON 9000, 256 - 512 MB RAM, 60, 80 or 100 GB HD, faster SuperDrive and speeds ranging from 867 MHz, 933 MHz and hopefully, 1 GHz :D
I would too, but you will not see that with an iMac anytime soon. Those would be very well fitting specs for our current PowerMacs, except they have dual processors. :)
I think the one thing that is a real stretch would be the 100GB Hard Drive. The only reason Apple would something that high is an updated PowerMac carries more significant specs.
The 19 inch model has been rumored many times before, yet I find the need to surpass the current 17 inch model insufficient, given that the iMac is for the avg. Mac user and the PowerMacs are Pro model machines, for the Pro users. They have more options, so they buy something to perfect their needs. Plus, they have the option to buy a 17 inch monitor already. Why include a 19 inch monitor on an iMac, an avg. user's machine, when a Pro user may only need a 4x3 res. monitor and ridiculously fast speeds?
Expanding further, I estimate that a 19 inch monitor on the iMac would alone cost at least $1000, especially with the quality Apple uses. And no base model of the iMac has never cost more than double that, as far as my knowledge provides. In that case, if a real powerful iMac with the given specs is made, it will cost more than the base dual processor PowerMacs, especially if you purchased the now discontinued 15 inch monitor or a cheap ext. monitor. So it won't happen.

I like the new version. But can i recommend that you do what the weather widget does, where you click on it and it gives you a small version and then a more informed version.
EDIT: sorry my ignorance you can. Now i can fully give this widget two thumbs up.

Predictions: Either a BTO Mac mini, about $1000, or (most likely) Baseline 12.1" PowerBook.
SWITCHER ON Predicted, November 2005.
You've got the keyboard, mouse & display. Why not get the Mini with 512MB or 1 Gig and call it a day? Should be well under $1000.

This is a nice update. I was hoping for a Flash 8, but I guess that was hoping for too much. :o At least it supports 7, fp6 would have blown.
I've been using my Wii to check a current site I'm working on, since it's the only web device I have that doesn't have Flash 9 installed, it has been good for testing.

Well it does make since in some ways. The Network Adminstor doesnt report to school adminsters. He reports to the superindent at best and with 52 schools one AP is small fries and request like that will not aways be taken care of.
As for proxicing out it. that not really going to work simplely because the computer still has to route back to the school and go though there web blocking. Now if there was let say a personal computer at home he could remote desktop to. that could get around it since that computer does not deal school networking.
Prox has it limitions. A VPN might work since all request are sent though it but then again that gets into some pretty messy stuff to set up.
Thanks, at least I can give him an educated answer.

Since it is almost definite we'll see new PowerBooks on November 5 WITHOUT Superdrives, I'm betting we'll see them at MacWorld SF or more likely around April if they get them into the current design. (Much like they did with the TiBook Combo Drives: they released Powerbooks, then updated them to Superdrives in a minor update)
If they can't fit them in, we'll probably see a remodeled PowerBook with a Superdrive and Bluetooth around the middle of next year.
