That's exactly my point. The 3rd party docking stations essentially have plugs that go into the existing ports with them duplicated on the back - the side ports are impossible to do without a side-bracket thingie. This is an unwieldy solution at best.
Most PC notebooks have a connector that covers all the ports. You slide the laptop into the dock - into the ONE connector and it replicates all the ports in the back of the dock. Just strikes me as a bit unusual that Apple haven't designed the PB around that concept - surely there are many computing pros who have a workstation at a desk (monitor, keyboard, network, mouse, printer, USB & Firewire peripherals plugged in) but would like the flexibility of being able to pick their machine up and go without having to bother with 8 things that are plugged in.
You COULD use an Apple display as a sort of quasi-dock, but that still doesn't cover the lot.

so here is what I have been able to gather from the pain of waiting for the new PB......
Educational discount ends 9/25
Employee discount ends 9/30
Amazon.com out of 667 with note that it is to be replaced with 800
Some guy in Holland couldn't buy a new PB because they were out of stock and could not get any more (this is a tough one to put faith in)
Some uni's have additional discount until 9/30 (namely san jose state)
Pioneer has dvd-r notebook drives to be released in 4th quarter
ATi has released new mobility 9000 graphics chip to be released next month (although compaq is slated to be the one releasing these next month, we can hope PB's have them though).
So???....???? now we just wait and see.

You are one of the few moral and sane individuals who I see on this server. People who see beyond this robin hood mentality that permeates the computer world like a plague. People don't seem to feel as though they have done anything wrong when they have stolen something that is not physical.
Now I won't sit here and claim that I have never ever stolen music or software. I have downloaded my fair share of warez in my day, we all have. To deny that is to deny the very thing that makes us human. Ok, maybe not, but I'm not going to play holier than thou. Software companies, however get it, where movie companies don't. Software companies understand that they aren't Losing money by having software pirated (with the exception of game publishers, and office style software.) The fact is, that five to ten years ago, when i warezed it up, and stole a copy of say, Photoshop, and FinalCutPro 1, the software company was not losing money. Why? Because there is no way that I would have purchased the software did I not steal it. It was a zero sum game then. Now, that I use Photoshop, FCP, DVD SP, and a load of other expensive apps, (My computer is worth a third of what the software installed on it is,) for business purposes, I purchase them legally. Most businesses do the same thing.
Recording companies should realize the same thing. I have never downloaded a song that i would have purchased could I not have downloaded it. If I like something enough to buy it, the I buy it. Recodring companies don't lose that much to file sharing for that very reason. People download music as a preview a majority of the time. Give the rate faeces that the recording companies want to release, thank god for that ability too. My rant is over, I'm getting bored.
Peace

I'm not sure what those articles are supposed to mean. CherryOS is seriously buggy, and shouldn't have been announced as a finished product, but there is real code there which makes the "hoax" label just a little bit silly.
The Wired blog entries are kind of disappointing, in that the reviewer chose to mess only with doctored pirated OEM upgrade copies rather than real OS X retail discs.
What a waste all around.

I dont think that Apple will put out a PDA... I would like to see it happen.. but it wont. What I do think well happen is Apple will put out a next gen cell phone with PDA functions but will not go as fare as the trio or some other the other PDA/phones. It will be not much larger than the cell phones we have not.. but with a lot more features.
If it had a USB port on it and a terminal app that I can use to tip and use it as a mini console... I would buy 3 of them....
Maybe I sould just get a Sharp Zaurus... but I really want an Apple!
If Apple comes out with an iPhone... I will grap it up in a second!

So what if it kills iMac/eMac sales? Let them replace the iMac and eMac for all I care.... If it could sell more than the iMac/eMac then that means there's more DEMAND for a cheap tower than the iMac/eMac, and in the end it would boost the marketshare. Take the LCD/CRT out of the iMac/eMac and put it into a Tower, and market it as a $899 G4 Tower, OC it to 1GHz and put in the fake DDR technology from the new Power Macs. I know several potential switchers that would be first in line.

A google search about a year ago when I was looking for some upcoming apple info, but never joined until recently. I wasn't sure about this menagerie of mac maniacs, but now I know I'll fit right in.

Why no option for "Rumor Willis"?
I've also heard enough of Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" to last me a lifetime.

I don't understand why Mac folks don't think recent copies of Windows aren't stable.
Maybe it's the same reason PC guys think Macs are still running OS 8
Nah, people know its not on OS8. They know its pretty as hell though. I was using an Panther/Tiger visual style, and my friend came over as said: "Wow, you're using an Apple?" (even though I have my case, with a clear window, on my desk).
..."Are you stupid?"
(this is the same friend who wondered if he needed a Firewire card for his PC to connect to his 4th gen iPod. He also wanted me to help install it for him.)

The thing I like most about this movie, is Steves grin about half way through after the Mac finishes talking. He looked immensely proud.

Thats right. Its motorala thats chip cant handle DDRAM. Therefore, I think Apple is using DDRAM in the powermacs + Xserves just for marketing purposes.

Ok... So maybe IBM isn't interested in putting Altivec instructions in their PowerPCs.
But tell me, what would stop Motorola or another Altivec licensee from creating a co-processor that handles Altivec instructions?
Could we be looking at IBM G5s with a Motorola (or other party) Altivec unit?

Do you have a link to back this claim?
I believe this does not need to be disclosed publicly by a company, provided the holding is less than a certain percentage of the outstanding shares. WildCowboy is correct, however. The $150 million "investment" in 1997 (actually a patent dispute settlement, nothing to do with antitrust) was in non-voting shares which vested many years ago, and are generally supposed to have been cashed in. Microsoft doesn't have any influence on electing members of Apple's Board of Directors, which is the most important thing to know. The 1997 deal was set up so that they would not.

Why would you want to paint yourself?
Cannot do a clear case and keep the RFI rating it currently has, remove the metal box and the computer would get extremely noisy. And check on some of the clock rates to find out where to tune the your radio, tv, cell phone, etc. dial.
Why? It's a dream, wake up... smell the coffee. http://adwoff.com/ubb/graemlins/gmorning.gif
Geez your dour today Blah. What's the problem? You got a bad case of the blahs.:)
Hey it's your dream. Don't let other people stomp on it. If Steve Jobs and Wozniak had when they had started Apple it wouldn't have gone anywhere. Also I have a question for everyone. I hear everyone refering to the current case as the El Capitan. Wasn't it originally the Yosemite? Or was Yosemite just the code name for the B/WG3?

those are two different observations, but you're correct, i was thinking l3.... heh, I had 3midterms this week and the other 22credit hours are backing up behind those. It made sense when I posted it... ;)
the first comment, however, was regarding the ibook with 133fsb g3 operating at 700mhz... we'll get a 733.. but then again, who am I to point out the flaws in others posts?
