Just because a man can do a thing does not mean that he should do that thing. Whether or not you will get caught breaking the law is irrelevant to whether what you are doing is or is not legal. I can go to the supermarket or gas station and steal a bag of ice from outside without getting caught, but it doesn't mean what I'm doing is okay. You might say it's not a big deal--it only costs a dollar, and anyway the supermarket makes tons of money off the other things that they sell, and they probably don't deserve all that money because they underpay their employees.
Moral relativism and justification might make you feel fine about doing it, but it's still wrong and it's still illegal. If you don't care, that's your thing.
He just wants to play his music on Linux, is there something wrong with that? Are you saying that Linux is bad, and Apple is good? Do you think that Apple is doing the right thing by not preventing these issues in the first place (by failing to open up technology standards or port multimedia software to other operating systems)? I really don't think that it would be terribly difficult to port iTunes or Quicktime to Linux.

Common = conforming to the usual standard. 360 crashing problems aren't common, Wii nunchuck problems aren't common. Hell - PSP dead pixels aren't common. Windows viruses are common :D
Zane - try Wii Sports boxing. Chances are as soon as the nunchuck is disconnected it will pause the game, and due to the nature of the game you'll be able to see if it's a faulty port or just COD3?
Well I would say the problem occurs for me only like once every two weeks and I have to restart a couple of times but thanks I think Ill try that.

I honestly don't understand the point of this thread but so be it, I bought Alien Hominid (xbla) during this month.
Also, MRU, did you buy all those games? If so, where do you work and do they have any openings?

Go to the sorce:
www.apple.com/store
Or the many other fine outlets:
www.macwarehouse.com
www.maczone.com
www.macmall.com
I hate amazon.com they suck, and I even live in Seattle, HA!
You'll find that most Apple products (esp. their computers) don't neccerly will change price from one dealer to another.

My [rediction is this: Because OS X.1.x supported only UP TO 120 GB drives, that's all they gave it. But being Jaguar can support pretty much any-sized drive, I think that they will soon replace them with 200+ GB drives (the 200 GB drives are out now, Maxtor has 320 GB ones coming soon) How about an Xserver with 800 GB of storage? Not too bad I think :) (Or that RAID! 14*200 = 1800 GB!!)

I've got a Mini CD 1.66 running it 24/7, and my EeePC whenever it can, but that's no real help. My work computer runs is whenever I'm there (C2D 1.86).

I've actually had more problems with v1.0 than I did with any other. Generally rendering problems, a couple of sites seem to be broken where they weren't previusly; example eBuyer's feedback pages. It's also stopped responding a couple of times, something unheard of in ealier releases.
For me, the most stable version was 0.8. 'Course, I can't use that now we've all heard about the spoofing vulnerability... sigh. Not saying it's bad, it's still the best out there, but this whole releasing to a deadline thing probably made some shortcuts necessary.

This is a rumors site occasionally perused by Apple legal, and maybe some employees looking for a laugh.
If you want Apple to continue to be "behind" (is that a gentle enough word for you?) in the hardware sector, then that's fine.
I don't, no one here does, but I could type 'til I'm blue in the face here, and it wouldn't change the course that Apple is on.
Oddly enough, The Steve is not sitting in his office, with a bunch of processor designers, eagerly awaiting your (or my) next post.
But the FACT is that most Apple users, DON'T. They want to see Apple competing with PC hardware properly. Apple is already such a small part of the market and IMO, they need to increase speed to
Agreed, speed would help gain new market share. Never said anything to the contrary.
Have you ever heard of the phrase "Give the people what they want" ? Well most people want speed and numbers.
Most people want cheap computers too. Most people want a lot of things. I'm all for better numbers, as long as they are performance and not GHz based.
If we artificailly inflate numbers at the cost of performance (PIV) we have more GHz doing the same amount of work. If we lower margins and Apple quits being a botique company, quality will suffer, profits will suffer, and the overall effect won't be good.
If Apple has a 30% share in the future, do you think we'll remain virus free? Do you think we'll get more attention from the pop-up spyware writers? Do you think the hardware will still be built to as high of a spec?
And anyone who has said "I like your style, Nipsy" in this thread, no you don't, you just like the fact that he's defending your precious Macs. You guys whine and complain about what Apple's needs to do right, but as soon as someone points out that Apple is doing something wrong, you suddenly completely disagree with the very points that you yourselves were making. It's pretty pathetic.
Actually, I beleive I may be getting kudos for writing clear responses, provinding links, admitting I'm wrong when I make a mistake, and speaking with a modicum of business acumen. I'm intelligent enough to know that Apple does not have the market cap to fully control their chip evolution, and you, it seems, are not.
In case you still believe that it is Apple's fault, I will make an offer right now.
Call Motorola, order 2000 2.4GHz G5s (you can order IBM 970s if you'd like). Send me the bill, and I'll upgrade eveyone's machine for free.

As most have said, it is kinda fun to play around with. But what is the actual use of it? Sure, you can analyse statistical data from the net, but other than that....not much point to it.

I don't own the computer, BUT I am the computer tech... so I gave myself permission :D
I also do have a copy running at the local Toyota dealership which they don't know about... its my revenge of sorts. I had to get my coolant flushed and took it to a local place. They opened up my radiator and said "We don't have that color of coolant. You have to take it to the dealership." So the next week I took it there and WAITED for 3 HOURS!... how long does it take to flush the radiator?! I had an appointment! I have a busy life! So after about 2hrs I installed folding on their waiting room PC. Those hemopheliac monkies! Oh well, I don't feel bad. They deserve it! Probably weren't using it anyway... and its still running

It was reported this morning that it's going to take 2 months for the 12 day west coast dock backlog to get caught up so everything we've been expecting soon may not show up much before MacWorld San Francisco 2003. It just depends where those drives are in the cue.
Even if they haven't been shipped from Japan yet, it's going to take longer for them to arrive because of this huge cue that has built up over these past 12 days. That includes things like the Pioneer DVR-A05 Quad Speed SuperDrive, the Yamaha External FireWire version of the CRW-F1, and the new PowerBooks that Apple has had to delay announcing because they're sitting on a ship that hasn't been able to be unloaded. So I think we're going to have to be extra patient about getting what we know is next.
Let's all remember that this was NOT a STRIKE by the workers but a LOCKOUT by management. Management did not negotiate in good faith and was willing to wait for the President to step in while Bananas and other perishable food rotted on those unserviced ships.

I was thinking about another little widget, or build this into the folding tracker. A widget that lets you know/or you can see if there was a post in one of the folding threads and click on the thread name and you go straight to the MacRumors distributed computing forums!

Do you work for Formac?;)
That's a great monitor...and Apple has definitely been resting on old tech in their LCDs...
I say a refresh across the whole line is in order.

And when I see a friend with a year old PC playin Warcraft with less jumpiness then my 6 month old powermac, it makes me want to switch. Power does matter to me, and you cant get much power for the amount of money I have when it comes to computers from apple.
I'm sorry about the previous two posts. When they posted they did not display right even after editing and then they wouldn't let me delete them so here is my third try. Copy and paste rather than pressing the quote button.
What PowerMac your profile says you have an iMac 333. Also I would like to see a $1600 PC beat a Dual 867/DDR. It wouldn't have a chance when you started heavy multitasking and other real world tests. Then go ahead an move on to your games and if you had a real graphics card in the 867 it would beat the PC in that to all while it was burning a cd, getting mail, surfing the net, and making an iMovie. The biggest thing though is that even at 1600 most PC's do not include all the standard hardware that you get in a Mac.
