i wonder if a single processor machine that repeatedly requests core82 and never gets it just hangs forever?
that would suck for the whole project
The weird thing is that I have never seen a core82 before on any of my machines. I wonder if this is an x86-only core, and the Folding WU server isn't picking up the fact that a Mac has requested the work? Anyway, I hope I don't get another one.

Yeah, you were going to be a millionaire alright. Some kid having a little computer project, one without any information about it on the site, by the way. Riches and fame.

They did settle on it a a few weeks back, so I'd guess they would.
Still with all the lies, they put out about rumble, its not going to look great, but at the end of the day, its one more feature for the PS3.
But what does force feedback for steering wheels have to do with a genric rumble feature, answer, nothing.

when i first looked at it, i was like "wtf? getting the 867 wouldnt be worth $2700 for how much its lagging compared to the 933" then later on when i went back to the page, i realized there was a dual 867 ddr ;) lol, then i felt alot happier lol...

Ummm. Anyone else notice the person's title? Thats messed up...
Yeah, I'm really hoping that's a joke. I can't imagine a government office giving someone a title like that.

i will be installing 31 3.6GHz P4 with HT next week
all will have 2 folding processes on them with 2 seperate machine IDs
my little contribution. hopefully they are not too loud/hot or i may have to scale back. don't want the machines to die if the AC goes out. should make me #2 for the team output and hopefully give the team a little boost. small output by a large number of people is better in the long run though
May i ask how you come across so many computers, are you in it or something? Because thats alot of folding

How about when girls become total sluts and break up with their boyfriends because they meet to many guys on myspace? That's probably a problem. Trust me.
How about all the kids that are molested on there every day?
How about the children that are setting up to meet "friends" from there, and then get kidnapped.
Need more?
Wow, I'm sorry, I know this discussion is winding down but this post is nothing more (http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,70254-0.html) than regurgitated FUD from the media.
Not to bring out the tired old "Guns don't kill people..." cliche, but MySpace doesn't make anyone a slut. People who already are sluts make themselves more available on Myspace. Lesson: If you're worried about your girlfriend up and runnning out on you for someone on myspace, either:
1) You don't trust her (you have a problem)
2) Your girlfriend IS a slut (she has a probelm, and you're an idiot for putting so much into a relationship with her)
3) Your relationship isn't that strong (you both have a problem)
Children get kidnapped from MySpace because they were never properly educated on strangers when they were younger, and they're hungry for attention. You don't hear this more often because the Media likes to demonize everything realitively new and online, and nobody is going to tell someone who'd kid got kidnapped it happened becuase they were a lousy parent.
What's the number one reaosn people get kidnapped from chatting, myspace, ect? I imagine it's agreeing to meet the person in a private place, or meeting in public but letting them convince you to go someplace private when you don't really know them and aren't able to defend yourself.
How about all the kids that are mollested there everyday? Like who? Do you have any real figures with sources showing Myspace to be the most dangerous place in the world you make it out to be, or are you just fearmongering?

The 5GB model is good but the touch wheel has no mechanical parts to gum up or break. The touch wheel is a lot better to handle, find some store models and try it out.

I don't think thats an iMac. If I compare mine to that one, I see the chin is smaller on that, and the the screen is too close to the bottom of the "rectangle part".
I totally agree... the "chin" looks too small - and I have both a 17" and 20" iMac. This looks rather weird

I also noticed that if the album art is really big or high-resolution, the program borks and the front of the jewelcase that shows up is simply a bunch of messed up graphics.

Kay, forgive my ignorance, but why are certain model #s selected for member ranking, and not others? Is it just arbitrary? It's just that there are so many models (5000s, 9000s, etc. etc. ), why were the 65xxxs and 68xxxs chosen? And then the progression to 600s?... They're not model numbers, they're CPUs.
ie, the 6502 is all the way back at the Apple ][, 68000s the first Mac CPU, and the 600s are the beginning of the PPC CPUs.

Could we be looking at IBM G5s with a Motorola (or other party) Altivec unit?
IBM can't put "AltiVec" in its PowerPCs because AltiVec is a Motorola trademark. They could instead design their own AltiVec-compatible vector processor and call it something else. A 4x32-bit PPC vector processor is a 4x32-bit PPC vector processor. A standalone AltiVec chip would be possible, but not likely (in my opinion) - the trend in computer logic has been consolidation of components, not fragmentation.

j763, get off the phone with AOL and return to calmness.
I experienced a similar situation with my Cube, with it not turning off until I unplugged it. Even Apple couldn't find what the problem was.
My problem was how I had the USB set up. I had the speakers set up in port 1 and the monitor in port 2.
Plug in your monitor to USB port 1, and your speakers to USB port 2. That may fix the problem.

Well technically speaking I believe the current gen G3 is a 750fx "Sahara" from IBM and correct me if I am wrong, but it is actually manufactured better then the G4 is. I also heard that it has some features over the G4 as far as the main processor is concerned. Yes I know it does not have Alti-Vec, but honestly if you stripped out alti-vec which would be a superior processor the 7455(G4) or the 750fx (G3), I think without the Alti-vec or as apple calles it Velocity Engine the G3 would kick the G4's butt.
If you consider the heat output of the current G3 and also the power intake, I think the G3 750fx is actually a better choice for the current design iBooks IMHO. What do we need. Give us another 200 or 300 MHz speed bump and the 133MHz bus speed. Those two things would help this little machine perform close to PowerBooks for less money, heat, and power consumption.

Cool redeye, thanks for the update! And it's here about the same, the heat that is. Too hot to get some sleep. So, installing the widget at 00:48 CET is the best thing to do! :D And I think it's time to get this baby out of its Beta status and make it version 1.05. After this update, you have earned your rest, for the weekend that is :p
