even if it has a 1000 watt PSU, it will almost never use that much electricty. 1000 watts ( 1KW) is the maxium. The g5 will probally only use around ~375 watts for normal use. If you start rendering movies, or doing processor-intesive work, expect those numbers to rise :DWhat do you think you are doing with folding? Your procs are processing at the maximum, so you will come close to the usage of your PSU.
And for a 350mhz G4 or G3, in those days those procs werent really powersavers. My old G3 B&W has an PSU of only 200 Watts, so compared with modern day technology, it's still an expensive heater when you are using it for folding!

3 - Its not integrated into Windows. I've seen patches for IE go south. When they do they break the browser. Since the damn thing is integrated into Windows you can't simply uninstall the app and reinstall it to start over. I've actually tried working with MS on a broken system last year to get it up and running after a combined IE sec patch made IE blow up on certain pages. In the end after an hour on the phone with them they recommended redoing the user's system. With FireFox if I want to start over I simply uninstall the app and reinstall. I don't even need to reboot! So lets see. A 5 minute fix vs. a 2 hour fix. Which would you prefer?

Thanks for posting the review, MRU.. however, nobody's answered my question about the story! :(
I may just wait a bit anyway.. I'm sure with their PC background we'll have 10 patches by next month. :P
Problem is if we answer your question about the story then you may as well have a big Spolier ;) :D
Bascially the overall story without spoilers
Your in prison - crazy ***** is going down and someone who see's' in you somthing of a ray of hope.
Bish bash - you escape prison and are sent to take somthing to someone.
At this point you can either A) go ahead and deliver the goods and follow on the intriguing story or B) explore.
The main quest is very good and will take you all over the world and will last you about 15-20 hours.
But .... by going to B) YOUR story is going to be utterly different to every one else who plays the game.
Very much like FABLE promised but never delivered - your actions and choices will shape your character / their strengths and weaknesses and the way NPC's will deal or not deal with you.
This 'just existing in the world' story is mammoth in it's own right and some of the stories are truly fantastic...
I'll just say the word 'PAINTER' and those that have done that will know what I'm talkling about.
Basically Oblivion is a great RPG and worth checking out. You can always trade it in later if you decide its not for you.
But I think the main quest story is excellent - nights of the 9 expansion is gravy on the excellence and all the other quests and stories through out the world are just the icing on an otherwise scrumptious RPG cake.

After typing start1 and start2, you need to type exit to leave that session.
Quitting terminal after typing exit won't stop the folding.

I'm sure apple would love to, but they don't want to put in dual processors if it makes it too hot to pick up (not to mention cool efficently), as well as maintain a reasonable battery life (if you have to add another fan, thats goign to take up more power as well). frankly, i think it would take a fairly large redesign of the enclosure to do it, and coming up with som really innovative cooling. I'm sure they are working on lots of stuff, but for the meantime, I'd say its just nto going to happen anytime soon.
I do, however, expect a pretty good speed bump.
Is the Ti book expensive. I suppose it is, but you aren't just paying for speed. You're paying for a nice wide screen, optical drives, decent sized hard drive, and a desktop equaling processor (not just a scaled down version with the same name), all in a super thin case. Thin and that full featured costs money. They could probably make it cheaper simply by making the case larger, but thats not really the way they want to go.

From memory, it was a FireWire RAID enclosure.
I think this is correct. I believe it's supposed to split into two pieces so the HDs can be swapped out, but I may be misremembering things.

Hi guys,
Been a regular reader of the site for ages, just never actually registered! Anyway...
I took delivery of my Dual 867 G4 last week, with 768 RAM, and the ATI Radeon 9000 to order.
Everything flies - games etc. in OS 9 (Quake/Unreal Tournament) are stunning - speed in 9 is blistering, and overall speed in 10 is excellent, which means I now use 10 as my primary OS.
But there's one seemingly glaring problem - when I do anything in the finder (I'm using the word "finder" as in the OS-9 understanding of it - sorry!), even when I first start up, with no progs running, and I drag a window around or something, the window movement is "jagged" - it kind of glitches approx. every second. This happens with window drags, dock scrolling with magnification on, doing the selection box around files on the desktop, dragging HD icons around on the desktop - almost everything, including sometimes minimizing using the genie effect. Dragging web-browser windows, itunes, and every other app's windows also does the same. Also (not really important) - when the apps I'm loading bounce in the dock as they're opening, sometimes the bouncing animation glitches too. But strangely, scrolls in programs such as Photoshop and other graphically-intensive apps are as smooth as anything. As are screensavers (and games) that are accessing the card using OpenGL etc. It only seems to be standard finder/desktop stuff. Video/DVD playback is also fine.
The most annoying thing is, I was installing 10.2 on a new 700mhz iMac we got in at my work today - and, even though it only had 256 in it, and the 32mb Geforce4 instead of the 64mb 9000 I have, the window drags and EVERYTHING I've mentioned, were as smooth as anything - albeit my machine is faster and more continuous, with less "submarining" as the windows drag etc - more instantaneous - but, the iMac (and 2 other dual 867s with the Geforce4 in them and less RAM I've tested) was smooth - resulting in a system that felt more responsive - even though speed was probably faster on mine, but doesn't feel it because of the glitching.
Has anyone any ideas to help me with this please? Is it maybe a driver compatibility problem of some sort, and I should just wait for an update to 10.2 and/or the ATI radeon 9000 drivers?
Please help!
Thanks in anticipation,
Mark

It looks that way, and maybe they are doing the same WU. It's normal with a two instances of folding. After they both finish you will get different WU's. Stanford then sees that you have two different instances of folding going. Now they think something has gone wrong with the download and have given you the same WU.
Gotcha.. I'll keep an eye on it, thanks!

im glad to see progress is being made with the Open Office project
but as was already said, when will it be aqua-fied and OS X native instead of X11?
Have you tried:
http://trinity.neooffice.org/
It tracks OO fairly closely. Right now it's at 1.1.3. I'm not sure when it will catch up to OO 2.0, though. No X11 required. It uses OS X Java2D and does a good job, especially in the latest releases, integrating with OS X.

As long as they take people away from that gawd awful uncompliant MSIE crap I don't care who else they take out. I'm so sick and tired of having to go out of my way to support that stupid browser, when every other one works perfectly.
