A spokeswoman for Napster said that such endeavors were nothing new and the company was not too concerned.
I bet they aren't too concerned. Think about who benefits and who gets screwed. The subscriber pays $15 and downloads say 50 - 100 songs per month and then uses this workaround to keep their music. They play it one time (to record it) and then they delete it. They are getting a great deal.
Napster gets the $15 per month subscription. They are supposed to pay the record companies and artists each time the songs are played. Well, they are only played once. Very little money out of Napster's pocket. Great deal.
Record companies and artists - They get paid a few cents for the one play. SCREWED!
How long can Napster not be concerned?

To summon up this thread, yall seems to agree that 16mb of graphics i pathetic and should be raise to accendate the recomended 32mb Radeon in the jagwire specs.
Fact is that the G3 is much more efficent when is comes to power dissapation. althoug it is weaker per clock, than the G4, it could be tweaked a great deal.
FACT: G3 = IBM 750FX
IBM 750FX runs at stunning a 1Ghz, Apple use the lowend 700Mhz edition, so that it would not move the light away from its TiBook series.
If IBook should go 1Ghz then
TiBook must go 933Mhz+

Both worlds use each other.
You know the advert for Sony's Bravia range of LCD TVs where they chuck a bunch of coloured balls down a street in SF. Well when I first saw that I assumed it was done with CGI but I saw the 'making of' the advert promo on a Sony display in a Sony shop and its actually done for real, looked a lot of fun, and not only that but in every clip where the making of crew were filming the advert crew you could clearly see that the advert was produced on Apple laptops and desktops. I'd have thought that Sony would've at least placed their own Vaio in shot to make us believe they were used.

I was just thinking about one those old, old keyboards that was part of the Lear-Siegler ADM-3A, (http://www.old-computers.com/history/detail.asp?n=32&t=3) which you can see at the link. I spent a lot of time using that generic keyboard as well as a number of DEC terminals before I got my first computer job, including the IBM 5250 block mode terminals, which had a typewriter style keyboard with command (function) keys.
Things were different back then but many terminals didn't have arrow keys and some had embedded arrow keys that required shift or control to make them work. The W, A, S, and D keys worked with some applications. Others required you to simply backspace and re-type everything, though everything was often an 80 (or 40) character line.

I love your icon too. :D Much less creepier than that Marilyn Manson. Though my brother-in-law loves Marilyn Manson.
hehe, the creepster Manson is back.
Son was sick all weekend, so my PS3 sits in the box waiting for me to set it up. I hope to have it Folding by the weekend.

Not to burst everyone's bubble BUT:
The guy who makes these offered it to Apple as a new Apple product and guess what: Apple turned him down.

I downloaded it, and unless I am missing something, it's got nowhere near the power of GIMP yet. They've got a long way to go to make this usable software, but if they implement the full GIMP feature sets with Mac OS X GUI, that will be an impressive accomplishment.
I don't think they ever will...according to their website (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=826648&forum_id=244287), they're leaving that task up to some sort of GIMP Aqua project. I've heard rumblings of such a one, but I think right now, there are just several projects to make GTK, which underpins GIMP, work in Aqua.
It sounds like this project wants to use some GIMP code and contribute some code to GIMP, but to primarily make an app that the author thinks makes sense for the Mac community.... Hmmm.....

Is there anybody here who has ever changed their mind about digital rights management, i.e., accepted and then rejected it or rejected it and then accepted it over time? We've heard many members trying to convince others and I wonder if everybody has their mind permanently made up.
Has anybody ever "switched" on this issue?Depends on which issue you are referring to: the "music should be free" issue or the "DRM is wrong/unfair/unethical/unjust" issue.
I used to have a ton of pirated MP3's from back before even the original Napster came out. Don't know what it was that caused me to delete 'em all, probably the birth of my son and the realization that I'm now a role model. (that'll scare you sober!)
I've never really had a problem with DRM though - even the anoying serial number id's and hardware "dongles" make sense to me. Is seems to me that they are there to make piracy anoyingly difficult for the majority of users - the hard core geeks (like DVD Jon) will always find ways around them, but not most of us. I find the iTMS DRM to be quite liberal, I've never had a legitimate reason to complain about it.

if anything i think this:
http://www.orange.com/English/communicate/spvfeatures.asp?bhcp=1
would goad apple into the portable/phone market..... i hate to say it, but this is pretty sweet, if osx was on this... holy crap!!! we all know apple could make a far cooler device... it's still a stretch though...
and it could explain the partnership with sony ericsson
we get quite a few unreleased phones from sony ericsson to do product debut CD-Roms and such.... it's amazing how apple-like some of them are looking...
