    (1) Which aussie forum member constantly changed avatars when he had around 1000 posts?

    (2) Which Macrumors forum poster is the only one to spam the boards with well over 240 posts in a period of three days?

    (3) What is the name of the PC troll, who:
    >was proud of using a PC
    >made only PC pro posts
    >lived in the location of "buthole"
    >and likes to have anal sex with chicken and other barnyard animals?
(This is all one person, as freaky as that sounds.)

I don't feel sorry for M$. Why? Because when Win95 first introduced, Apple tried to sue M$ for coypin' their "trash can" (because of recycle bin). It never happened so... let M$ suffer for EU and their next gen OS, too! :D

**EXCEPT XBOX and XBOX 360 because of HALO :p

I wondered why the form elements look better in the "special edition" Firefox for G5 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=97289) optimized build, they must have included this in it

    I love Firefox.

I thought Godfather Blackhand edition would be just another PS2 port with tacked on Wii controls but IGN just gave it an 8.0 and generally had good things to say about it. That makes it the 5th highest Wii game they've rated behind Zelda, SSX, Elebits, and WarioWare.

I'll probably rent it first but this is surprising news to me. EA is doing a good job even if it is just ports. Hopefully, they will have a few new IPs on the Wii in the next year or so...

Well I've been looking at some games to pick up for the Wii this week...so I went to gamestop.com and looked at games shipping this week. The ones that caught my eye were Cooking Mama, The Godfather and Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. So I've came to only allow myself to get Cooking Mama and the Godfather, but then I saw Ubisoft's site. http://store.ubi.com/item.jsp?item=17264&promo=bawiiwb

It had the box for Blazing Angels and in the corner there was the Nintendo Wi-Fi logo...I also saw the same box art on target.com. So if this a big mistake, joke or if the Wii getting online this week?

I'll attach the picture of the box art from Ubisoft's site

Engadget just posted news (http://www.engadget.com/) that the machine will run a version of Windows CE, which is a blow to the Linux community. Negroponte claims that the proposed Linux distro was "as bloated as Windows". So of course the answer is to use Windows then.

Funny you should mention those SGI 17" widescreen, because i far as i am aware (at least the SGI website says so) you can't use the multilink adapter with OS X in digital mode (it is a pity because their native resolution is 1600*1024 which is exactly the Cinema Display's so the graphic cards on recent Powermacs can therefore output those res.). That reduces those screens to pretty much legacy hardware. If there is a digital solution for those screens under OS X, i would like to know it 'cause where i work we have something like 15 or so of those running WebObject apps on NT boxes (which, you will certainly admit, defeats the purpose). So if i could migrate those screens to OS X i would be able to replace those Dell workstations with Apple PMacs.
Anyway i am a bit off topic here...

Everyone pretty much agrees that Apple is in serious need of revamping their display line, but i would say that their main business is to sell Apple computers, so the screens are one of the (very) obvious ways to attract attention and to make those computers very desirable. I don't think they are on the market to sell screens on their own (competition is fierce there).

If you are looking for a more polyvalent screen, get a Formac Gallery (1740 or 2010 - the DVI interface is a bit more common than the ADC...): now that is a screen...

    Nico

65 posts in one day  , I'd say the latter.

That's two days actually. Last night after midnight and today.

When I find a message forum I like, what can I say? I get involved. I don't think you'll find much post whoring if you read through my stuff.

Anyway, I also run/own a pretty popular message forum (no where NEAR the popularity of this place) and I've always been suspect of folks that throw others usage into their face as some sort of an "outting."

For me it means nothing more than lots of time stuck in front of a computer and the ability to type 70wpm.

The new promo is good with PowerBook and PowerMac, which (given their past track record) would mean no new update until the promo is over.

    Dissappointed..........

Everyone has been complaining so much about the current Macs being so far behind the Pentiums and AMD processors in speed. In actuality the new 1.25ghz Dual G4 is the 3rd fastest consumer PC in the market. It almost matches the fastest AMD processor and is just slightly behind Intels PIV 2.8 ghz machine. Check it out for yourself:

Bulldog is one of the suppliers that ask you switch to them for all your telephone requirements. It's down to a thing called Local Loop Unbundling, which allows other companies to provide services directly to customers over BT's cable. The line still terminates to the same BT exchange, where other companies such as Bulldog now have their equipment installed.

You get to keep your telephone number if that's what you're worried about. It's not like Mercury was back in the 80s, and is getting quite common across the EU. I have my phone line/DSL etc. through Homechoice (another LLU supplier), and there's no difference in service from how it used to be under BT.

I gave it a bit of a workout for a day, and twice Firefox 1.0 stopped recognizing mouse clicks. Menus would pull down but fail to do anything, requiring a force-quit to recover. There also seems to be a problem with Javascript and tabs, pages are hanging if they aren't the visible pane.

Oh well, maybe they'll get a cleaned-up 1.1 out there soon.

Well yeah I would think that Apple will continue to keep the i and e consumer lines on the 745x series of processors when and if the PowerMac goes to the PPC 970, so the chip will continue to develop much like the PPC G3 750 has since it left service in the B&W G3 towers.

Eh, me thinks it may be a while. I think that if they intro a Macbook mini, they would need to come pretty close to Mac mini/Macbook specs. But hey, Macbook should then go with the iMac, because the Macbook would be a step up from Macbook mini, but then we are getting into Macbook Pro territory. Therefore, Apple needs a brand realignment if they want to have product lines flow a bit better. This way, we have a product matrix similar to the one completed in 1999 with the iBook, except for with the Mini line thrown in.

But Apple will do it anyway. Just because I think it should be done this way.

I remember that keynote! A powerbook G4 was indeed announced, as predicted by MR, and I ordered one as soon as the Apple Store came back online. Woohoo! I had the world's fastest laptop with the biggest screen! (actually it was just a Ti400, but that 15-inch screen rocked!)

Okay, so here was going too come the stupid question...which G4s are 7450s and which G4s are 7400s? In particular, a iBook G4 / 800 of Dec. 03 vintage?
You can download Apple's CHUD Tools (ftp://ftp.apple.com/developer/Tool_Chest/Testing_-_Debugging/Performance_tools/).

A description of them can be found here: http://developer.apple.com/tools/performance/.

These tools are intended for use by software developers. Among their components, however, is a "Processor" panel for System Preferences. This will (among other things) show you information about your hardware (CPU model, cache sizes, etc.)

This preference panel also lets you change some core system settings (like disabling one CPU on dual-processor systems). I recommend you don't change anything without a really really good reason. If you're not a developer, you probably will not have any such reason.

Would it be worth it for me to start folding with my old laptops (mostly g3s) power wise? Also I really want to get the dell IT guys to start folding with our computers at work at night/weekend. It would be hilarious for them to do it for MR! We have hundreds, if not over 1000 of core duos here.
I have it running on my C2D with XP at work. But XP/windows doesn't like it. It keeps crashing, sometimes twice or three times a day. When I don't fold the machine seems to be stable. So now I only use one core and sometimes it still crashes. Also windows doesn't like it when it is one for multiple days. Thank god I have a nice G5 at home which feels much more snappier then that C2D with XP on it. Ofcourse my G5 is also folding, but because I'm paying the electric bill.... it isn't folding 24/7 anymore :(
