Must stop rubbing the credit card, its about to melt. Be still my precious, only 28hrs to go.
[EDIT] Rubbing knees now, seem less important to have knees rather than a working credit card.

Did the cat also happen to take any photos of unreleased products in elevators?
Wow. How did you guess? :p
The pictures were taken using the camera on the actual Apple device.

Unfortunately, I'm pulled back into thinking, "What could Apple do with phones that hasn't already been done." Small, light, photos, video, internet, music, games, personal organization? Most of this is pretty well covered with the current offerings. So what is going to be the selling point here? Is it going to be expensive or affordable? Is it going to be full-featured or bare bones?
Very good questions.
- Apple could release a stylish simple phone with a simple interface, and the capability of an iPod shuffle built in. There would really be nothing special about such a phone - at most they might give it 3G data connections so someone with a MacBook could use it to get on the net.
- They could certainly be the first provider to make a phone that can ONLY be used handsfree (via the headphones).
- They could leverage their airport base stations to release a VoIP phone that works at home, work, and wireless hotspots.
- The obvious untapped area is integration of VoIP, 3G, & video - but all the big companies are looking at that. The other thing that most mobile companies are having trouble with is the killer app - so many phones have data connectivity, and people just don't know what to do with it. If Apple can make a compelling product there the phone companies will want to sell it.
ps. Apple might choose to make a phone with no music capability... just to delineate the product. That gives people something to understand... and then they can release the combo products.

While I do enjoy downloading apps from the app store since I get the immediacy of not having to drive to the mall, find a parking space, go to the Apple store and then having to drive back home, I do not like the idea of downloading an entire OS over the Internet. The size of the file would mean several hours waiting.
I rather just have a DVD that I can reuse if something goes wrong.

How do you feel about inflation? To me, inflation is the most regressive tax.
There is also the incorrect notion that "spending" is what drives an economy, that if a rich person doesn't "spend" their money then he or she is not benefiting the economy. What our economy currently needs is less spending and more saving. Savings and investments create jobs, not consumption.
First of all, some inflation is ok, and normal as long as it doesn't get too high. And how does money sitting in a bank account, or under my mattress create jobs? If nobody is buying anything then the economy goes down, that has been shown many times.
I'd almost agree but if you look at the Forbes flat income tax plan, the plan has a very generous initial income exemption before the no-deductions flat income tax kicks in (somewhere between US$42,000 to US$44,000 for a family of two adults and two dependents). As such, that right there makes this plan progressive, since low-income households are no longer subject to income tax.
And best of all, with essentially all those complex deductions, exemptions, credits, etc. no longer in the tax code, it means income tax forms will be simple enough that the whole thing for most taxpayers will be not much more than a postcard! :D Just the savings in income tax compliance costs would mean potentially hundreds of billions of dollars now can be used for more productive purposes.
ok, so maybe it could work with a high enough exemption, although I think $44,000 is a little too low. But you said get rid of all income tax and replace it with a consumption tax, that is even more regressive than a flat tax unless you limit it to only certain items at which point it doesn't bring in enough money to be viable.

Jobs reportedly responded, turning the tables...
LOL!
Yep, them tables sure were turned because the CEO is in the trenches blessing every line of iOS code that goes into every product. Steve knows best. Rumor dispelled. Next item.
Seriously... the audacity of Apple in this day and age is mind-boggling. Everything they do lately seems to be a PR nightmare just waiting to happen.
And yet they rise. And yet they rise.

Well if one AOL owned tech blog can't get rumors right (Engadget), I'm not believing the other way less popular one (TechCrunch).

Yikes. It'd take me 1.13 hours. Maybe you can get a friend to call you and start reading off ones and zeros?
LOL, that might just make it into my sig one of these days.
Clearly, new "iPod socks" will be released on Tueday. Aren't we overdue?
Agreed on the grammar correction...it should be "has".
Personallly, I would love a tower. Mainly because I want a separate monitor...and a 20" iMac won't fit on my desk, but a 20" Apple display will. I'm buying some computer on Tuesday- so I'm excited either way. Thank god for a $3800 credit limit. I would love a machine that could record from my tv, although that would conflict with iTunes selling tv shows.

So I thought... Would apple release a phone-only? No chance. It will most definitely have music features including wireless downloads from the iTMS (including a way to put the songs on your computer)... If this rumor is true of course.
My hope is for the phone to work on the Nextel / Sprint network not just because I have a Nextel, but because they have had time with their walkie-talkie feature, and I'd imagine that that would benefit the use of something like iChat over the phone.
Ah well, only a little over a week till the big day!

Depending on how you solve it, your answer is either 288 or 2.
Nothing is missing in the equation - no math symbol is missing between 2 and (9+3), so solve it as is.
Now, cast your vote! :)

To me, Tablets are worthless. I've had to deal with them at work because some people continue to order them for all their tasks, but they're less mobile than some laptops. They're usually the same thickness or size as a portable, so why carry something that's going to be crippled in some manner?

So you think Penryn pairs may be the 4 core mobile solution in 2008?
Possibly, although if Intel keeps moving along is may more likely end up being Penryn's successor. ;) ;cool:

Ugh, I don't want to wait till fall for IPhone 5. On VERIZON! holy crap I'm excited
How about an Iphone 4? it did seem a little suspicious releasing a vz iphone 4 in feb when a new phone coming in june. It would not surprise me if they did release in june. I myself bought an Iphone 4 as i could not wait, either way people are going to be unhappy... those who bought an iphone or those who choose to wait.
So I guess 2011
So much for the year of the Ipad 2, Maybe the year of Ipads

Yes but remember Leopard is not going to be only 64-bit, it will run 32-bit and 64-bit applications side by side.
True, but 64-bit in a 32-bit envrionment is still going to run only at 32-bit or not at all. But mlrproducts is right, they do have a while.

[SIZE=1]I like the notification system. An applet pops up whe I have a notification and I can choose to ignore it or go into the app for more information. What is wrong with that? I'm all for doing things better and maybe someone can show me a better way.
Up until recently I was happy with it as well.
Some sort of pull out tray like a few other mobile OS's would be good. The problem I have with iOS's handling is that it's a modal dialogue you must make a decision on. Either destructive (cancel - you may forget etc) or the positive action - which interrupts your current task. We need some way of being able to say cancel and look through it later when it suits us.
Many times we can be playing a game or browsing a website when a text message or an inane push notification takes precedence on screen. Or even better, an icon could gently pulsate in the status bar that relates to a certain app. Such as a text message, then we can be notified without being interrupted.

My thoughts exactly. Our school district (ISD 482) just bought 1,465 iPads for its students, and I can see us getting really mad if Apple were to release a new iPad 6 mos. later.
I'm not really sure Apple cares about your school district.

IF apple is not collecting the data, then what's the point of the file in the first place. Or, how come there is not a way for users to delete this file on the phone when they see fit. Sure, all the carriers are collecting all data, per patriot act and newer laws enacted since.
Someone should ask steve this question?
Does any government agency collect this data, through apple, or by other means? I'll bet he will hee haw around this question!
This stuff is part of the cloud computing. You will have a advertisement come across your phone when you go into areas that advertise through the phones. All of them will be doing this. Part of the business model. Get used to it as there is nothing we can do about it besides shutting your phone off and getting rid of them.

Considering I'm on a lowly, pathetic, dinosaur 3G that can't even run itself without severe, severe lag and a shattered screen, and will be coming home to the US in mid-September after being stuck with this pile for yet another 5 months, I will DEFINITELY be getting one.
A white one, on Verizon no less. Hallelujah.
