well you still remember them. so they served their purpose
I also remember those PowerBook ads with Gregory Hines & Jeff Goldblum. And those Performa infomercials from the mid 90's. It doesn't make them effective. I did think the "Think Different" print ad campain was great.
But the point of this thread is to actaully get people to ask Apple to actually show the machine and it's functions this time around.

I think it goes to show you that Apple has the model right, when they set up the iTMS. I'm sure running a movie studio help Steve guide the set-up of On-line Music. Koodos to Apple for getting it right the first time.

While the first results that came out indicated they were roughly equivalent in speed, the review in the latest MacWorld indicates that the new DDR Dual 1GHz Power Mac outperforms the old one by 20% on average. If the old adage that users can notice any performance difference >15%, this is significant.
So despite the smaller L3 cache, something about the design of these machines seems to make them significantly faster.
Nonetheless, it is apparent that they are not taking full advantage of the power of DDRAM.

The Sony's maximum resolution seems kind of low (1280 x 768). The 17in iMac screen is 1440 x 900. I've never been a fan of monitors with attached speakers. They always seem so cheap. The Component video input is a nice addition though.

Actually, coach potatoes do run now and then, such as when the pizza guy arrives and the doorbell rings.
The truly dedicated couch potato leaves the door open so the pizza guy can come in when he arrives :D

They already have a network in place for the Nintendo DS, so why can't they use that for the Wii?

You guys kill me... 5GB is too small? It is old technology? Please... even the 5GB iPod is lightyears ahead of any manufacturers. 5GB is still alot of songs...and I am sure that most have not filled this much up unless you are just downloading tons of garbage you don;t really listen to. That said, I just ordered the 10GB iPod.

Based on the database-driven backend, and reading through the online manual, I doubt there is a limit on the number of levels he can define.
So we'll just have to wait and see. :)

Steve Jobs is going to fly all the way to France to talk about education?
The education buying season is over. Teachers and Board of Ed. members will be sleeping when Jobs is on the stage.

They are supposed to have HD DVDs out by the end of next year on less then a 30GB disc. At what level of resolution is yet to be seen.
I haven't looked into it, but I bet the HD DVDs are going to be very compressed (by HD standards). They'll be higher quality than current DVDs, but you aren't going to full blown HD quality at a consumer level. Much like there are levels of current video quality (ex. full blown HD, DigiBeta, BetaSP, DV, DVD, VHS) there will be various "levels" of HD spanning from pro use to home use.
BTW a 90min DV movie will take up around 18gigs and that's just for picture and stereo audio (no bonus feagures or 5.1 sound).

Yeah, they know that if they were to do that both users and developers would be asking why they can't use it for games... and the reason for that would of course that it would be bad. If it ever happened, all current 360 owners wouldn't be able to play the game.
ooh. good point!
anyways, I know apple charged extra for the black MB, but that was different. the mac brand was known for being shiny white. a matte black apple laptop was something to be sought after. only a few months ago was there a black xbox. yawn.
This move, if it happens, would seem to be little more then shutting the mouths of the elitists in the PS3 camp, and to make the difference look much more minimal to consumers between 360/PS3.
Plus, they would still have the lowest price offerings... might make the Premium look like an even better deal.

Canadian prices for the Cinema Displays are currently at:
1799, 2799, and 4699. I wonder if they'll work in the stronger Canadian dollar.

Yay for Firefox!
I use it almost exclusively in Windows. Lately, It's become my primary browser on the Mac too. Safari is very nice, but Firefox has some features that I've come to love :)
In the end, having people migrate from IE to alternative browsers, be it Firefox, Safari or Opera, will be better for the web. Some competition is needed :)

My bro's interested in a new HDD (doesn't care for HDMI) and his drive is almost full. Hopefully MS will bring out some app to encrypt and send your drive down the ethernet port to either a different Xbox or a PC, to then send onto the new Xbox.
Either way theres about 6-7gb of stuff that downloading on a 512kbps connection would take a lifetime. I trust MS will sort it. they're quite thoughtful when it comes to the 360.

Dude, I am a microsoft certified professional and spend all day dealing with PC problems. I have worked on the slowest ones and the fastest ones. The dual power macs fly! On top of that they do not run winblows. PC's suck because of the OS period. My mind will never be changed on that because I have almost 2 decades of dealing with Microsoft's crap!
