I like firefox, much speedier than Safari (not a whole lot, but still noticeable), and I hate the fact that when you have multiple GIFs on one page, that the computer goes up to 100% CPU and slows down... firefox doesn't do that for me.
My wife is using Firefox more these days. For some reason with Safari some websites require a login with each visit. After awhile it becomes annoying.

Whether you are a fan of Microsoft or not, Bill Gates has done a tremendous job. Macs/Apple would not be here today if it wasn't for Bill Gates. Did he or did he not borrow technology? Who cares. He definitely improved on the technology and here we are today with Macs that are awesome. We owe a lot to Bill Gates and all that he has done for the computing world. Lets not criticize him as he slowly moves on to things that are far more important than our gaming and internet computers. He is saving lives and that is important. If more people were like Bill Gates and his foundation, we would have a safer world to live in.

I wish it would start off as a still picture, and only start playing if I clicked it.
Exactly! That seems to make so much more sense.

Hahaha! Wow! I thought I would never have a reason to share my media on a 360, but for security purposes, I should :) That is amazing and stupid on your neighbor's part. See, there's reason to invest in the $100 WiFi dongle. :D
Please do keep us posted. That may not enough for a warrant, but maybe having a cop visit either homes may be enough for someone to break. It is only down to two houses after all.
Wow, stealing WiFi AND a X-Box 360? Any laws in your area about stealing an internet connection? :D

My processes with the intel SMP client don't seem to be doing much of anything. Top shows them, but ther CPU time seems to stay at 0:00.15. I've tried both the installer and the manual client with -local as an argument. Am I doing something wrong here?

Hey c'mon, there's exactly no more heat on a Powerbook than on any other Computer. Yes, you can feel thermal properties on a 1 inch thin computer (1 inch includes the flip up display by the way).
I use a PB 800 MHz - 60 GB - with 1 GB RAM. Yes I feel thermal properties but it is nothing to worry about at all. If your totally stressed about some people complaining about an electronic device displaying thermal properties, take Apple's word for it and don't listen; or take my word that these people are the same people who complain that their fridge is warm on top, or that the water tastes funny.
After hours of use, or after leaving it on for days and days, I can fold the PB up into sleep mode and put it in my Brenthaven Titanium 1 carrying case along with my Canon Optura 200 MC DV Camcorder and all the chargers, batteries, and cords that connect them and the total weight is just about 10 lbs (around 4.5 Kg metric).
I used to use a PC, but beleive you me, now I think they're PP. My name is BenderBot1138 and I'm very cool using my Powerbook. :D

After all of the bruhaha from various record label execs screaming for "variable" (read: rip-off) pricing on iTunes, in the end it seems (surprise!) .99 aint so bad after all (http://news.ft.com/cms/s/297eecc2-d934-11da-8b06-0000779e2340.html).

You are correct. I will address the error in set up of the dual Xeon box and see how that changes performance. Thanks for the tips.

Hey vollspacken,
If you're a student, have you checked out Apple's educational discounts? I think they were selling the 667 and 800 Mhz models for about $1,900 and $2,400, respectively. I paid about $2,600 back in January for a 550 Mhz. :(

To squash some WinTel people in this forum/post trying to say Windows scales better than UNIX.
Spec of a Sun machine running UNIX.
Key Specifications:
Up to 106 UltraSPARC III Cu 900-MHz processors.
Big memory - more than 1/2 TB.
Up to 18 fifth-generation Dynamic System Domains, which are fully configurable while applications are running.
Hot-swappable Uniboard design CPU/memory boards that are common across Sun Fire server family.
Redundant, high-performance Sun[tm] Fireplane Interconnect with up to 172.8 GBps peak bandwidth.
Full redundancy of power and cooling systems.
Oh yeah! OS X is UNIX also. Hmmm.
Single CPU vs. Multi CPU. Who cares?
Macs are the whole package.
Nuff said!

I'm calling early October around the same time they revved last year. If they aren't revved by late december, we may as well expect an entirely new iBook or iBook replacement product line. I doubt that tho. The IceBook is one of the most successful Apple products ever, and is one of the main switch products.

Is there something we can do to help?
Thank you for asking. I don't know whether there's anything you can do to help, Bousozoku, but whoever agrees with me could help by joining me in sending Apple the feedback that we are fed up with sluggish computer performance, both in terms of software and hardware. If enough of us talk back, maybe they will bring things up to speed.

Hah, the author thinks the software will become fast and usable and it will affect Apple's hardware sales.
It will only ever be as fast as Virtual PC is on the Mac. And Virtual PC is working with open specs and has years and years behind them. PearPC is working with closed specs.
If anything it will always be a little slower than Virtual PC and virtual pc is not fast enough to replace a PC except if you just need one critical windows app. There are no critical mac apps so I don't see how this would affect Apple's sales. If anything it would help them.

Loosely related, has anyone else just been upgraded to the beta of Yahoo's new mail interface? I have to say, although it's a little slow, it seems really nice. And actually very similar to Roundcube (which is why I mentioned it). It works in FF -- I'm not sure if it works in Safari, because I haven't tried it yet. :o
Now if they would go back to offering free POP in the US...
