It takes 578mhz to do one w/u a day. Therefore that would mean an 867mhz would do 1.5 a day (accurate, thats what my PB does) and a 266mhz would do one every 2.1 days, also accurate. Someone compare my equation to their computer. All you do is take your CPU speed and divide it by 578. It *should* give you roughly the w/u you complete in one day.

But seriously, some application that might be enhanced would be: Graphics, Audio, File Serving, and if the app is compiled for it, gaming:)

Based on the benchmarks of the 1.25GHz DDR G4, I'd venture to say that we still do not have a full implementation of DDR memory, though a full implementation of DDR memory would provide little or no boost in most processes. I think that we are merely seeing the advantage of a 166MHz system bus, as opposed to the 133MHz bus that we saw for so long.

Got an e-mail from Apple. My 1.25 will be here on Thursday. I can't wait! It's my first Mac so I won't be able to compare it to any of the previous computers benchmark wise.

If I didn't own a 360 and was eyeballing this one, I would seriously consider the 20g Ps3 at $20 more. And I'm not saying that simply because I've already got a 360 and this announcement pisses me off; I say it because a Ps3 for $20 more to include the BluRay is worth the extra $20 over this 360.
Well there wont be any more 20gb PS3's once stores have got rid of stock so it will be $120 difference - but then your getting wifi too.

Oh, and you know MySpace's reputation as the pedophiles' playground has been firmly cemented into the national psyche when SNL does a sketch about a "How to use MySpace" class at the local learning annex, and every student in the class (save one mother with a teenager) is a thirty- to forty-something man looking to hook up with young girls (or young boys) by pretending to be a young girl (or young boy).

Here's what I'm expecting in october...apple has let me down lately, so I'll set my goals low.
PowerBook
- 800 MHz and 933 GHz G4s
- PC 133 memory
- 30, 40 and 60 GB hard disks
- 32 MB Mobility Radeon 9000
- No superdrive
- bluetooth in airport card
- similar pricing
Then I can be pleasantly surprised when I get the specs I want! :D

Yes you can play WoW in little increatments. But be aware... you'll get sucked into the Void quickly!
I've played WoW for over a year now and I just recently cancelled my membership. That game will suck the life right out of you. Don't get me wrong it's a great game but the problem I found is even after a year of playing there is no end in sight. I enjoyed my time but lately I feel that it was a waste of time.
I would suggest if your playing in mini time slots to play on a PvE server rather then a PvP server.

It's actually a little shocking that it wasn't designed to do that in the first place!
It's a lot easier to use the buyer's CPU to add DRM than to task the iTunes servers with doing it - so making the servers do it will cause Apple to either add more horsepower there or slow down iTunes' response times under load.

Because the 1.8 will wipe the floor with the 4.4 intel, that's why. Performance, performance, performance

i thout it was 2 teraflops of GPU power compared 2 the 1 teraflop of the xbox360??
I'm not entirely sure, according to that article, its overall computational power. It could be wrong, I'm not sure.
On further research, the PS3 has a floating point performance of 218 GFLOPS.
And the GPU has 1.8 TFLOPS floating point performance.
Still, its pretty powerful...
Darn. I wish I was studying Computer Science right now :P

I agree, to keep iTunes and Quicktime seperate for much longer is non-sensical. By crippling the free version of QT (can't play full screen?!?!) they're effectively encouraging people to use iTunes for videos...but keeping the term 'iTunes' for such a programme is losing its relevence.
Perhaps the could create one single app called iLife or something, and you can access 'iTunes', 'iPhoto', videos, iTMS etc from the source list on the left side panel.
The functionality of WMP11, where you have one app that can play virtually any media as well as organise a library and browse (multiple) music stores means that Apple will have to do something to integrate the experience on Macs.

Ricky Ponting - definitely. Lara's an old has-been (a very good old has been) who doesn't want to play anymore but isn't allowed to retire until West Indies cricket is back on track.
And yes they make cricket games, damned good cricket games. Have for many, many years right back to the PS1.

Just the other day I was saying to a colleague of mine that I thought it would eventually would ship in March. I still believe that too, whether this story is true or not.
Let's hope Leopard has one or two killer features that get splashed across the media just as Microsoft announce the final delay in Longhaul shipping. Hopefully the Mac ads will embed into the public's minds, the new MacBook and iPod AV announcements will impress and keep Apple in the public eye and then boom, Leopard.
Finger's crossed.

It's very similar to Outlook Express on Mac and PC. It won't talk to a webmail server. You'll have to get SMTP/POP or IMAP access. Mail.com offers smtp/pop at extra cost (not free). I don't think Netscape offers it at all.
