thinking about this , UK only down ... it HAS to be a price cut of some kind!!
The UK is frequently the first or one of the first to go down... it's not unheard of it going down before 10am and staying down till the rest of europe and the the U.S. go down a few hours later.
I can't imagine being any serious updates though, not this close to MWSF, speedbumps possibly but not major changes.
Hopefully like you said Apple are realising the strength of the � vs $ means that they can actually lower their prices and still milk a tidy profit.

I launched a new product at work and the guy who owned the domain with the same name as the product emailed me and asked me if I wanted to buy the domain. Said he was getting all kinds of traffic meant for me. Said he had a few competitors interested in buying it. I offered him $500. He said he was getting bids well over $10,000. Told him he should take it.
Emailed me 2 weeks later asking for $1000. Said I'd give him $100 and it was my final offer. Domain is still parked.

If you want carry it around then by all means be my guest. I think that if you take a poll of people that use laptops, I believe you'll find that most prefer a lighter unit, I guess they must be "puny-men" too.
If the latest and greatest from Intel and M$ is what turns your crank then this is the system for you. If you actually care about having a usable operating system and QUALITY hardware, then you should be looking at a PB Ti.
You must be a "puny-man" if you can't handle 9 lbs. That is probably less than the weight of your lunch at McDs. ;)

Whoever ran across this one, thanks for the news submission.
Will check out the g5 version tonite, and the g4 version later.
If it crashes a lot, it won't be any different from the 'normal' OS X version, so I won't mind-- I'll take the daily FF crashes (in OS X but not XP strangely) any day over sluggish camino and safari.

Like I said, I am definately no processor guru but I was under the impression that the 7440 was to scale to 1GHz and, if that is true, it sounds like they have hit their limit and said "****, we had better push a little more out of this".

Why is it inefficient? Processors get faster... they don't introduce new chipsets for every incremental speed increase.

I generally won't do ANY updates unless I'm done with any actual work for the day, and usually for the weekend. I don't trust those updates not to mess with my computer. To many loose rm commands running around to make me comfortable sometimes!

I haven't looked at this for ages, extremeoverclocking probably changed their xml design. I'll see what I can do, but I can't promisse you a fast solution. My daughter and studies take up most of my time right now.
I'll post a working version in this thread, when I come to it. If you'd like to take over development however, feel free to do so.

Man, iSight conversations would be scary! So basically, they can watch the video any time they want -- and you know like, 50% of the people who own webcams use them for nudity.
What I'm worried about is the conversations. I discuss a lot of potential art projects with people via-iChat, but if I understand this correctly, they can take the ideas, sell them to studios and make money off my/someone else's idea. If that's correct, it totally blows.
Hopefully the bad PR will make AOL change their mind. I know a lot of people are sending links to this article like crazy.

Man. Being a software developer myself, that really almost brought a tear to my eye. Not because it was sad, but because it's all so true. And how they talk about their software creation like it is an old friend. These guys are the 21st century heirs to the real computer users of the early days of computing. Doing stuff out of love and sheer satisfaction and less out of what will only serve the bottom line. What an uplifting and joyous alternative to the senseless stupidity that is the corporate-microsoft-kissing-modern-computer world. These guys are the real McCoy. If I ever met them, I'd give them a high five. That was the most enjoyable internet article I've read in the past 6 months.

Can't the police get a warrant for the IP address? I think if they have a warrant above their heads they might "find" a IP address. All the information they get from a xbox or 360 that gets on XBL they HAVE to know the IP.

Ive been using xp pro for 3 months here at work, and I have to say I'm quietly impressed. Its never crashed, nothing has unepectedly quit (and its running a bunch of custom pci cards, so if ever it was flakey, id have expected it to be so with this rig...). My only complaint is the 'look' of it - osX does look nicer, but then osX is a lot less snappy.
So where does my money go to with Apple? I posses a bunch of apples, and each time I buy a new one i feel a little less 'happy' and a little more like a regular consumer. After all, the days of non proprietory hardware being used in apples are gone - its all usb and firewire (and not even cutting edge usb at that). Some of my reasons for disliking M$ are also beginning to surface with appl� - .mac for a start. What osX has done is open my eyes to using linux at home (or maybe x86 solaris) ...switching? hmmm....
oh, and did anyone mention that apples floating point performance was good? no - its awful!

i don;t think Apple will make a mouse, but there is a third party 2 button mose with scroll wheel that looks a lot like the pro mouse... i have it, very nice... The third party pro mouse... (http://www.colorcase.com/crysneonopmo2.html)
