Today I received my Apple eNews and there was no number 2 or 8. There were two number 3's and the "What's New" section was number 9, after section 7... anyone else see this?

Thanks to everyone for your insight. Seeing as how I have some time tonight and tomorrow and possibly over the weekend, I believe I will fire it up and see how it goes.
I am not opposed to forming up with anyone on occasion. I just don't want to have to depend on it. I would simply like to be able to get online, play and have a good time regardless of who else is on.
What I was hoping I could avoid was sitting around in a group of prepubescent boys listening to them talk about how cool they say they are all while we wait for the giant pickle monster to repop so that the pimple faced leader can bark commands at me so that I can have a shot to obtain the uber l33t girdle that I need to protect myself from the kid with anger issues who hunts down newbs to somehow justify his existence. I had my fill of that playing MUDs and it no longer fits my concept of fun.
Hmm. Nature of the beast if you're on a PvP server - but not all. I quit WoW after a year of playing - it just got tiresome. Especially when you get to the stage of pure leveling, it's pointless. However I have a mate that plays most evenings and does have fun regardless if he's in a group. He has about eight characters at varying levels and he enjoys that aspect of it. It really, really depends what you're after.

Too bad you cannot scare the snot out of the kid, on camera.
Shows up with camera crew...
"Microsoft Prize patrol, do you have an XBox 360? Can you show it to me"
Types stuff into handheld...
"Do you own this machine?"
Types stuff into handheld...
"Oh, sorry ... you cannot collect a prize with this XBox 360 -- the serial number has it listed as a murder weapon, and the owner is a likely suspect."
I like it. Think I'll try it tomorrow. :-)

Is there any extra benefit of the DDR 2700 ram in the dual 1.25s?

Well yes, usually I delegate the number crunching to computers, and don't sit at home spinning a little crank to crunch the WU by hand. And do you know that not a single person responded to my call for justice?! They missed the chance to be a part of my glorious SETIvolution!
Call for justice...?
More like a call for your glorious exploitation....

edit:// furthermore, I think a lot of the reason MySpace has gotten the reputation it has because it's the latest scapegoat on all the 20/20 investigations. People have been diddling children on the internet (and IRL!) long before MySpace was even a thought.
Exactly... when I was growing up 20/20 was telling parents not to let your kids out of the house due to the fact that "strangers with candy" will abduct them. Now that our kids are locked in the house, NOW it seems that they can't even use their computers!
Next thing you know video games will be bad for them! Oh wait...

Pretty good deal if you ask me! The apple sales people annoy me sometimes- they insist their not trying to sell extras to you, but they are
And Best Buy tries to sell you those damn warranties. When I bought my xBox years back, I was arguing with the ******* of a cashier for 5 minutes as he pressured me like a used car salesman to buy their stupid, useless warranty. If I was as smart back then, I would've told the cashier to take the xBox and shove it and gone down the street to Slackers (locally owned CD/video game chain store in STL) and bought it. Hell, not really down the street....more like 4 or 5 stores down in the shopping center.
I've never had an Apple Store worker not take no for an answer....but I've never had them try to push extras on me either. It's always been a simple "Would you like Applecare today?"..."No, I'll buy it later." "OK then. Enjoy your new Mac"
And even if the Apple Store people did push extras on you, I'd still go there, because if I have any questions about the product, I'm not going to get some dumbass high school dropout with a single digit IQ stand there and scratch his ass while unable to comprehend that the Apple I'm talking about isn't something that grew on a tree. I can deal with pushy salesmen, I can't deal with lying and unknowledgeable salesmen.

If you remember the 10 or so graphicly-explicit posts that inspired both the sensors and banned a few users.....
If you remember when the G5 issue had only been discussed 3 or so times........
If you remember when Rumors were pet theories and leaks were just research...
If you remember when there were only 5 or 6 forums........

It is referred to the HALO effect because HALO got a lot of people to buy the xbox because of the game itself. Therefore products that are entry products and produce synergy purchases are considered HALO effects.
I hope you don't really believe that's where it originated.

The BOINC thingy seems to be a generic distributed computing client, not specific to SETI@Home.

One more question. What population size server do you guys prefer; high, medium or low? Is one better than the other. I have selected a server with a low population but I am not sure that is the best thing to do. Perhaps they have a low population for a reason?

LOL. This is hysterical...right up until I'm on the puddle jumper to NYC and I hear the pilot shouting, "This program has encountered an error and needs to close...Send or Don't Send?"

Well then, in my opinion, someone isn't doing a very good job. Are you telling me that there is no difference between NeoOffice and NeoOffice/J? I guess it's NeoOffice/C? The one with the last release in mid-2003? The non-Java one that has gone nowhere (which is what I was referring to, btw)? If NeoOffice=NeoOffice/J, then why don't you say so and drop the NeoOffice/C stuff. If you think the relationship between all these variants is clear to someone visiting the trinity.neoofice.org site, you're mistaken. From my point of view, NeoOffice/J is the only thing on the site that is viable and moving forward. If the OS X X11 support for OO is also part of NeoOffice, then that isn't clear, either. Just my opinion, mind you. I've always found the relationship between neoOffice/??? and OpenOffice to be complete opaque, at best.
Ah, that makes more sense. NeoOffice is the product name. There are two versions, the /C (cocoa) and /J (java) which are aqua implementations of OpenOffice.org.
/c is dead. The amount of work required to re-write the code to fit a cocoa framework would be a lot for a full team of programmers, much less two. Ed talked about that more on the forum.
/j is the current one. it may not be pretty, but it is as native OSX as /C wanted to be, and infinitly more stable.
as for the site, the hope is if you go to the main page (http://www.neooffice.org) it would be clearer. but i do understand, right now there are three sites sorta working together to be the neooffice website.
here is a breakdown of the 'variants'

Also, if you guys can assure and walk me through it, I will GULP, fold with my iMac G5 at home when it just sits there sleeping. I am away from home about ten hours a day, and use it only about 2-4 hours a night.
I would go for it - it can't hurt - especially if its under warranty. It will burn in the G5 CPU for you - if it runs well for a few days, you're good to go. I folded on my G4 powerbooks for a long time - yeah, they got hotter, but not unbearably - unless you actually put one on your lap. :D

Once you stop counting, the posts add up faster. Remember the old saying "A watched pot never boils?" The same thing applies. If you have something to say on a topic, chime in and contribute. If you don't, don't. That way your post count represents your time, effort, participation, and contributions, not just how many times you can click a Submit button.
Hey, bergeek! Nice to see you back today. Too much time in the real (non-MacRumors) world can be harmful to your health!
