I wonder why people always ask the same questions that has been answered on this forum many many many times!

Notice the requirements that you need for BitLocker to be enabled.
Still not as easy as FileVault, where all you do is check off a box in the System Preferences. A dialog like that is more likely to scare off your average user.
The actual Aero interface, like the buttons reminds me of Ubuntu+GNOME.
I'm not overly impressed so far. To me, it seems like all they did was spice up the GUI, and make it pester the living daylights out of you with all the access priviledges. It's almost like they're making up for all those years as a single user OS by having Vista annoy the hell out of you with all these popups and crap about having the correct priviledges.
I'll hold on to my final thoughts until I get to try the OS for myself. Right now, I'm not very impressed.
right but it is by far more secure that fileVault. The reason that is more secure is because the enqetion key is not stored on the harddrive. The key has to remain unencrypted to read the stuff. In theory I could still a drive lock with filevault and get into the files. Hard but very do able. Having the key stored on another peice of hardware is a great way to keep it safe.

great advice! thanks.
when did the board ACTUALLY start? i recall reading quite a bit, and remember thinking that it was well-established. but when did it actually start?

I could really care less about breaking some DRM law or "international copyright law". I would love to see them try to enforce it.
Just because a man can do a thing does not mean that he should do that thing. Whether or not you will get caught breaking the law is irrelevant to whether what you are doing is or is not legal. I can go to the supermarket or gas station and steal a bag of ice from outside without getting caught, but it doesn't mean what I'm doing is okay. You might say it's not a big deal--it only costs a dollar, and anyway the supermarket makes tons of money off the other things that they sell, and they probably don't deserve all that money because they underpay their employees.
Moral relativism and justification might make you feel fine about doing it, but it's still wrong and it's still illegal. If you don't care, that's your thing.

How do you import your favorites from Safari?
How to spot an IE user: They call bookmarks favourites.
In answer to your actual question, I don't know, other people have had trouble too.

I say buy one now. It'll give you time to catch up on all the 360 titles you missed for when game season starts in the fall and we get bombarded with dozens of titles.

Isn't it amazing that no matter what the topic of a thread is about it always seems to degrade into people getting mad at how expensive a Macintosh is? Not to change the subjedt or anything...Carry on.

BTW Macaholic, how did you get sooooo much folding power?!? And are you folding for Team MR?!?
Bought it or built it myself. A man has to have a hobby. ;) I fold with Team MacOS X. Calling all Mac folders. Please spread the SMP client news (http://forum.folding-community.org/viewtopic.php?t=16715&highlight=) far and wide. Oh, did I mention it is SPEEDY and worth your time?! Can you say NATIVE?! I thought so. Now GO! :D

my 2 cents...
It's not about good technical benchmarks... It's about apple selling more macs :)
they don't necessarily have to call it gigaflops, they could just call it GF or MIPS.
I just think using anything rather than MHz would be good.
Think about how many more iMacs they would have sold had they been marketed as a 2gf machine? or 2000mips?

I was for a while, but I thought it would be wise to cease. Getting permission really is the way to go. I work for a large company, though, so the prospect would be a) daunting and b) impossible. :o

how do you do this to keep up with the programs if you switch every couple years from one system to the other. And isn't it confusing in your workflow or are u just a consumer user. If so then the power ain't matter my friend.
Cheers,
Dave
I am definitelynot a 'power user', but I am a hardcore gamer. And when I see a friend with a year old PC playin Warcraft with less jumpiness then my 6 month old powermac, it makes me want to switch. Power does matter to me, and you cant get much power for the amount of money I have when it comes to computers from apple.

Go to my Apple store and you'll instantly see why that (being a geek) is definitely not a requirement.
Definitely not a requirement. I mean, I like a lot of the people at my local Apple store, but I'd be willing to bet that a lot of them have less friens than I do (that's not many, by the way...:p )
Anyway, they keep up to date on current happenings and rumors (at least, at my store) - before Boot Camp, they all knew how to install Windows on the Mac, for example...

does it really work only with intel macs?
Yes. But there's some indication that if they can get x86/PPC networking to function (it has the same problem as C&C Generals in that regard), they might do a PPC patch. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

Kids being kids, of course, they have iPods and they use Google, just not when Dad is watching. Telling kids not to do something is the best way to get them to do it.

I was always led to believe that the Apple logo (with a bite taken out of it) was chosen in memory of Alan Turing (creator of the first electronic computer at Bletchley Park during WW2) - who commited suicide by taking a bite from an apple laced with cyanide - after being threatened with jail for being gay. I saw a program on TV about Apple many years ago that gave this story of how the company logo came about. Surely Apple would be advised to use this version of events in court rather than saying it was Steve Job's liking of Beatles music - which might only make Apple Corps (beatles) position stronger!!
Even though the first apple sold $666 I really don't think they are that morbid.

eWeek just came out with an article claiming that Apple has a feature-complete version of OS X running on x86 architecture that is codenamed Marklar.

It pulls together a lot of older rumors and Star Trek history, but has a few new interesting tidbits.

ha, that's a trip - I was actually thinking of going back and looking at all the top posters first post last week! You beat me too it :(
Its pretty simple, just select the profile of the member, then when the new window pops up, select 'view all posts by this member' in the top right of the window and then go to the last page.
