if this isn't a clue for apple to get of their feet and give us a 19-20 LCD at MWP then I don't know what is. the numbers speak for themselves. they look just as good as apple's LCDs, they have the same 2 port USB hub in the back. I know if they don't upgrade their monitors before end of september im going with formac. sorry apple

Do you work for Formac?;)
That's a great monitor...and Apple has definitely been resting on old tech in their LCDs...
I say a refresh across the whole line is in order.

My beef with MySpace is from a usability and design standpoint.
Put simply, its attrocious.

Well, it sounds like the cops haven't given up on cracking the case at least. Just hang in there. If there's been so many break-ins in the area, it's time they lay down the law.

Who will step up to volunteer to manage this email list thing? Could one of the moderators/admins of this forum round up all of the folding members' email addresses?
I find that there should be some app that administrates it for us, then we only need a website for the app to be integrated with.... hmmm, lets see.... we have one right here! I find it should be on our own macrumors.com

Anyone see why I don't post links to beta software now? :D
Hmm... I guess I should forget about posting a link to the nightly builds then? ;)

I you have an aversion to outdated technology, why don't you get him to buy a MacBook? It will safe you many many hours of giving free tech support, so it's definitely worth the money ($1199 with 1 GB of RAM).
My mom has a hard enough time using WIndows the way it is. To switch OS on here would set her back YEARS. I'm getting a Macbook next year :)
PS: I shoul dhave clearified, my dad is buying the computer for my mom.

Hey man, don't knock the Pismo-it's one helluva a machine, especially now that you can upgrade it to a G4. The first TiBook was a joke if you ask me. Same video card memory as the Pismo, same speeds as the Pismo (albeit in the G4 variety), and no expandability. Let's not even talk about ruggedness. I wanted a TiBook for the longest time, but nothing has come through the pipe that I liked. The last revision was the closest to what I would have expected a year ago. Don't get me wrong, I like the Ti for it's looks and size, but at that price point, I expect something that will just blow the upgraded Pismo away.
Flame away.

Never played around with the make movie feature in PowerPoint but I would like it to become a little more like the keynote version with the option of Interactive Movie or Self Playing. This must also be implemented on the Windows version, even if Microsoft eventually insist on mov for Mac and wmv for Windows.
To me this is what makes Keynote a great app. Once the presentation is complete you have a few options:
1. Keep it as a keynote presentation and hope there is a Mac available with Keynote.
2. Save it as a PowerPoint presentation and hope that it doesn't get formatted to lose any 3D transitions.
3. Save as Quicktime and have nearly no compatibility issues with pretty much any platform.

There's more to the mac than just OSX........

I get 1.6MB/s :D on Be* - and on the two occasions that I've called support, it's been back up and running within 30 minutes.
Using Freedom2Surf we now get downloads at 800/900 kbs but I'm sorely tempted to switch to BE in August. Apparently they can hit 15Mb/s in our area.
Mind you, it's no good if the server you're hooking up to is a crippled old fool (i.e. downloading a file from hotmail = 36kb/s !).

hey, do you remember when 'hella' wasnt a word.....those were good times. As long as my new Dual gig with 128MB Gefroce 4 Ti performs better than my 733 with Geforce2MX witch it almost certainly will, i will be happy. On the topic of noise, floyd, are you sure your machine isnt off?

I think that little contraption is a great idea. We need a more mobile cheap digital tablet computer. That touch-typeing interface is genious. Now... if it was only made by Apple, it may be interesting... Samsung? lol they can't even make a decent mp3 player...:p

The main reason is that the designers don't have time to learn OS X and to figure out how to do things all over again...
This is true but it's also important for any creative to keep up with technical developments especially when the cutting edge becomes commonplace... I didn't force through an OS X transition at work until I had about a year of messing with it at home and had researched a number of issues. In fact, it was that experimenting that lead me to this very forum.
While it all comes out of my own time, I also see it as an investment in my career and it pays off. I would hate to be still wedded to OS9, a position I was in 2 years ago... InDesign is something I intend to spend a lot of time with over the next few months at home before trying to do a day's work with it.
