Yep, it is the best and most efficient one. FAH stores its documents in the same folder where it installed its app in. So, for the script of mc68k this is in the folder F@H of your own home directory. You can check the progress of the of a WU by typing "work" in the terminal, and "pause" to pause the folding (if you want to do a heavy game or something), and "resume" if it needs to go back to folding after you paused it. These are the only commands you really need for letting it fold. Check out the read me that came with installer script. You can also open the file "FAHlog.txt" in the in the F@H folder if you want to know the progress of the WU.

Funny you should mention those SGI 17" widescreen, because i far as i am aware (at least the SGI website says so) you can't use the multilink adapter with OS X in digital mode (it is a pity because their native resolution is 1600*1024 which is exactly the Cinema Display's so the graphic cards on recent Powermacs can therefore output those res.). That reduces those screens to pretty much legacy hardware. If there is a digital solution for those screens under OS X, i would like to know it 'cause where i work we have something like 15 or so of those running WebObject apps on NT boxes (which, you will certainly admit, defeats the purpose). So if i could migrate those screens to OS X i would be able to replace those Dell workstations with Apple PMacs.
Anyway i am a bit off topic here...
Everyone pretty much agrees that Apple is in serious need of revamping their display line, but i would say that their main business is to sell Apple computers, so the screens are one of the (very) obvious ways to attract attention and to make those computers very desirable. I don't think they are on the market to sell screens on their own (competition is fierce there).
If you are looking for a more polyvalent screen, get a Formac Gallery (1740 or 2010 - the DVI interface is a bit more common than the ADC...): now that is a screen...

I agree. It might take ours to do. But it is still faster to reinstall then trying to get rid of all this adware/spyware junk.
..and I hope you guys learned your lesson...
It's not going to take any of mine to do. :D

I fold on PCs at work. I am the system admin, and the entire IT department for that matter, and I have started installing FaH whenever I have to do some work on a machine and I know that the owner isn't working the machine very hard/using it for some critical process. I have considered getting approval from my boss, but as they generally ask for my approval to install things at work, I think I am in the good.
I drew the line with our server, which I will get permission to install FaH on, if I ever do. It'd be a great folder, though, dual 2ghz Xeons... The desktop machines are used almost exclusively for Word, Excel, email, etc. There really isn't anything critical even stored on most of them (and definitely not on any of the ones I have installed FaH on).
I actually only fold at work, as my mini has a fan that scales up and down with CPU use, so running FaH makes it quite loud at home. The Dells at work have a CPU fan that runs at a steady rpm regardless, so I don't have to deal with any extra noise...
I'm also in the process of trying to get some machines donated to us (I work for a non-profit company) that will become 'spares' but while hey are waiting around to be deployed they will fold. :)

the proper link can be hard to find, so here it is (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/abiword/AbiWord-2.2.0.dmg.gz).
this has made great improvements over the 2.1 betas. the interface is much more aquified than the older versions and all of the tools are now available in a floating palette instead of the very pc-ish toolbar! this one also seems to be much more stable than the 2.1 betas. TextEdit usually takes care of the majority of my text editing needs, but for the times i need a full word processor i use abiword. i'd say this new version may very well have me using it for everything. i recommend that everybody try this out, you'll be impressed. once the ms word import plug-in works, i think abiword will really take off on the mac.

Maybe it's just me, but my PC blazes through SETI work whereas it took it a solid month to get through my first (and only) bit of Folding work.
You may have received a large WU. They are different sizes in folding. However, there points are relative to the size of the WU.

Bit of a troll thread, isn't this?
If you look more closely at their web site information, they say they use an external battery, not an internal one. It does use a desktop cpu, and everyone who says this is a portable replacement for a desktop computer are right.
Apples and oranges. Unpleasant aspects of Microsoft products aside, it doesn't make sense to try to compare this thing to a Powerbook, they are designed for completely different purposes.

Google got 0wn3d by Apple's pitbulls. I mean, lawyers.Ya think!? That would really stink. It was an homage to OS X for the most part. I can't believe that would happen...

or only type rid2, I believe that get rid of only the second folding app.If I leave it the way it is now, is it hurting anything, or is it just taking longer to complete?
Also, what exactly is one WU? One completed protein?
Is twelve days on one protein normal? What is the average?

I got
Connection Error: Could not connect to MySQL instance at localhost. Error: Unknown system variable 'sql_mode' (code 1193)
You'd think they'd actually TEST IT before releasing to the public. I've used Navicat with great success (gotta love that scheduler; though it deletes everything else in cron), CocoaMySQL is good, too, though needs an update.
It's possible that their MySQL Administrator ONLY works with their version of MySQL for Mac OSX. I'm using the original from Mac OS X Server, though don't know what the differences would be.
Really, you'd think they'd test it first. Really.

OK, so then maybe it is only the Superdrive model, but that is nice to see...afterall, before the 17" came out, Apple had made it $1899! 3 months and $200 off!

Doesn't Wacom make something like this already? You know, the Cintiq (http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/index.cfm).
Apple could just license the device the way Radio Shack does for its products -- my RS dx-398 shortwave receiver is a Sangean ats-909 with a slightly different look, though nothing is changed on the inside.

So the kids can use a MBP or iMac. They aren't on the list. If they had a fancy XP based PC in their room I can just see it. "Dad, my PC is all messed up again, I need to reinstall".

According to Corante.com (http://www.corante.com/copyfight/archives/2005/03/17/johansen_creates_drmfree_interface_to_itunes.php), from the same authors of QTFairUse (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2003/11/20031122001549.shtml), comes what is described as "the fair interface to the iTunes Music Store". The application called PyMusique (http://fuware.nanocrew.net/pymusique/) acts as a front end for the iTunes Music Store and allows users to preview iTunes songs, signup for an account, buy songs and redownload songs that were bought with PyMusique.
The most notable twist is this quote from Jon Johansen ("DVD Jon"), one of the authors of the application:
It is somewhat interesting from a DMCA/EUCD perspective. The iTunes Music Store actually sells songs without DRM. While iTunes adds DRM to your purchases, PyMusique does not.
Note: This application has been untested by this site, and Apple will likely take steps to prevent future usage.

Yup, the charge for the phone call is $49, but as it was a clear hardware problem, I didn't need phone support. Just an authorization for service.

Apple desperately needs to refresh the entire line for MWSF. They are once again becoming the laughing stock of the hardware industry. Everyone else is at 2+ GHz w/400MHz FSBs (yes I do know clock doesn't mean everything, but come on!) using DDR in desktops (up to PC3500 - that's 437.5MHz!) and DDR SODIMMs in laptops, insanely faster graphics cards (GeForce 4Ti's w/1.2GB of DDR RAM on 8x AGP), larger & faster hard drives (100 -200GB on dual ATA 133 buses is standard), dual optical drives (32x CDRWs, etc.), USB 2.0, 54Mbit 802.11, and the biggest slap in Apple's face - insanely superior audio - Dolby Digital 5.1 outputs, SPDIF in & out, plus QUALITY analog. And the PC market does all of this at half the price of a Mac. The thing about the PC stuff is I don't have to run Mickeysoft crap on it anymore, I can run Linux now. I'm in the market for a new Mac, but holy ***** Apple, get your act together!
