defiantly the touch screen iPod, it's like nails on a chalkboard whenever some one refers to it as the "actual video iPod" as if the current video iPod isn't real or something.

look guys the point is that technology is evolving nicely, so even if this 1000GB cdr or 1000 seagate drive isnt for everyone right now, it will be evntually. im happy to see such technology being worked on. I bet before we see these 1000Gb cdrs, we'll see blu ray DVD-Rs come out and with 50GB limit, they will handle HD DVDs without any problem
by the way maxtor released a 250GB firewire drive today eventough its only a 5400RPM drive. so terabyte drives are coming soon.

After all, if he loves his 1999 PowerMac G3, then he expects to love a new 2001 PowerMac G4 even more.
Well, opportunity cost is present in all our buying decisions, whether Mac or PC. I was speaking only in terms of computer purchasing.
Still, Mac users tend to hold onto their machines. I offer an alternate theory. The average Mac user doesn't "love" his or her computer. He/she bought it and uses it because it allows him/her to concentrate on getting the job done. The Mac "just works" without a lot of fuss or muss. One software package installed on it can be upgraded without fear that the other software will be broken by the upgrade.
I pretty much agree. Maybe "love" was too strong a word, but I think most Mac users who realize how much less troublesome their Macs are compared to PCs have an affinity for their machines, and all things remaining constant, wouldn't want to abandon their Macs (except for newer Macs :)).
The Mac and PC markets have very different dynamics. People who buy Macs tend to purchase them with funds at their disposal for their own use. Mac users tend to provide their own technical support. People who buy PCs tend to purchase them with other people's money for use by third parties. Upgrading software and peripherals can be a nighmare. Buying new machines is an expensive form of technical support.
Yeah, I don't quite remember what I was arguing for at this point, but I think any simple explanation of why a platform has the market share it does can only be arrived at by generalization. It's all very complex, and everything plays a part, and it's easy to generalize, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Not that you were generalizing, or that generalizing is evil and must be avoided at all costs, but, yeah.

sorry, did a quick search for idont.com but it comes up with everyone who mistypes "idont"!
When I search for "idont.com," the top two hits (besides this one) are the MacBytes article about it from this morning and yesterday's thread that I linked above.
No biggie...but discussion should carry on in one of the original threads.

Yeah, I've already read through both of those. Besides, we'll have countless posts about the iMac over the next few months. Heck, an updated iMac could come at any time. We might see a new iMac a week or two into October, we might not see them until MWSF.
Perhaps if I had titled this "iMac Rumor Roundup," this post might not seem superflous.

And Arne, if you are reading these boards, please delete clearly PC biased hate posts ASAP.
Silence your opposition - fabulous.

altho i don't think they'll update it, one could argue that this is a "yikes II" w/ similar short lifespan.
as you may recall, "yikes" was a stopgap model as well, essentially w/ a g4 put on the previous g3 momboard.

I would try calling XBL support and asking for their supervisor, and that person's supervisor, & so on. Explain to them, (stay firm on your point) the reason you need it and what you can do with it. If you need to, I would mention you are in the process of obtaining a warrant for the IP. As you already know, them not knowing the IP is complete and utter BS.

We've had this dictionary discussion before.
And apparently it needs to be had again, since people STILL don't understand what the word means!
But when a book author finds somebody using a photocopier to make a copy of their book instead of buying it, the word used doesn't matter as much as the fact you got something they were selling without paying.
The word does matter, since the word carries with it certain meaning and different acts (described by different words) carry different penalties. If you hit me in the face, could I claim that you were trying to murder me? after all I could have died. Or are you saying that all of a sudden the word does matter?
Copying copyrighted material against the will of the copyright-holder is wrong, I'm not disputing that. What I am disputing is the notion that it's stealing. It's not, fair and square.
Same logic: Musical artists aren't selling you round bits of plastic. They are selling you a copy of their music. Same logic: When you buy PhotoShop, you are buying more than the CD and some packaging. You are buying a license to use it, and even if you download a copy without taking something away from somebody else, you are getting something worth money and the owner/producer has reason to expect payment.
What you are describing is copyright-infringment, not stealing. Of course, RIAA and the like would just LOVE to label those who download music as thieves, since that word has such strong negative connections. But they are not thieves and they are not stealing no matter how much RIAA tries to claim that they are.

I think it has to be since firefox is among the highest none IE browsers out there and since 93% of the people are using IE that pretty much means a large number of Apple users are using IE along with Linus users. Firefox got a large number across all 3 OS of the alternitve browsers. And the firefox uses on the mac are moore taking away from Sarfia users than mac IE users

Apple uses the Sony/IBM/Toshiba "Cell" Processor as the GPU in all consumer Macs and strikes a deal with Sony so the Mac can natively play all PlayStation 3 games. Sony agrees to this because the production of the system is actually a lost leader for them (they make their money off game licensing) so having more systems capable of playing PS3 games is in their best interest. This makes the Mac a premier gaming platform and attracts many developers.
Many people who don't own HDTV's by then, buy the Mac to play HDTV capable PS3 games since the monitors in all Macs are 1080p compliant by then.
