in a few minutes, less than twenty to be exact, i will celebrate my 4th year here
and i am 40 years old
oh my god, i have been a member here for one tenth of my life!!
but then again, there could be a user here who has three years in here and is only 12 years old (younger kids need parental permission i think) and that would be a quarter of their life

I liked Camino before, but it was so darned slow... which is why I went to Firefox, but it was so darned buggy (OS X version). I wish FF was as clean as their WinXP version =\
Anyways, is the new Camino noticeably faster?

What do you think?
Unfortunately, this is where most companies are taking their business these days. Though I wish Apple weren't a part of it, I also realize they would probably wither if they weren't.

Oh, and the pending release of Vista.
Which we know to be the most unlikely to be released rumor ever known to mankind. ;) :D

Whatever.. why NOT go to Intel? Think about it.
You'd have the exact same speeds as the competition, guaranteed. Neutral.
BUT, you'd also have OS X, and great looking machines. If people see a ugly machine, and a beautiful one, same speed, they get the nicer one. Plus OS X is an easy sell over XP. They could target all advertising at this one thing.
Plus, I'm not a programmer, but I'd assume running Intel chips would make porting programs MUCH easier. I might be wrong here, but I don't think I am... there would be a lot greater incentive to develop for mac, since it's not too much more work.
Intel would mean much more mac software, same speed as the competition, better OS, better systems in general, etc.
So... what's SO bad about intel? If IBM is faster, go IBM. But Intel would be great too!

I would try calling XBL support and asking for their supervisor, and that person's supervisor, & so on. Explain to them, (stay firm on your point) the reason you need it and what you can do with it. If you need to, I would mention you are in the process of obtaining a warrant for the IP. As you already know, them not knowing the IP is complete and utter BS.

I think it has to be since firefox is among the highest none IE browsers out there and since 93% of the people are using IE that pretty much means a large number of Apple users are using IE along with Linus users. Firefox got a large number across all 3 OS of the alternitve browsers. And the firefox uses on the mac are moore taking away from Sarfia users than mac IE users

You might want to reread the Arstechnica article I posted.
So I guess we could say YOU ARE GUESSING that it isn't going to be available until 2003 late or 2004... Well then we might also GUESS that it's gonna be JULY 03 or AUG 03 since after all they fits 2H03 just as well and DEC 03!
You are the one pulling numbers from the air (or wherever) and then you say I'm guessing? (below) Oh and BTW I wasn't guessing...

Umm why would you REALLY DOUBT IT when infact that is EXACTLY what happened. Apple started shipping the iMac with the 750CXe in early Feb (announced @ MWSF I think) and then at the END of Feb IBM made the following statement. "IBM is sampling 400, 500, and 600MHz versions of their PowerPC 750CXe chips. Samples are available immediately and volume production begins in April." that clip was a news item posted to a Mac web site that I found via google. If you really don't trust me look it up yourself. That is EXACTLY what happened.

This is just a guess on your part... If you have a source that backs this up that's one thing but you don't even HINT at that... This is just your gut talking as far as I'm concerned.

Power4 code name Gigaprocessor
PPC 970 code name GPUL
The PPC 970 has roots...
Sorry but when people just throw stuff out from their gut but state is as fact it really bugs me. Read your quote again and tell me you don't make it sound like a FACT instead of a GUESS.

AMD will not succeed if they don't come up with a few big names...namely Dell and HP. At least one of them has to commit to it for a good length of time.

I gave it a bit of a workout for a day, and twice Firefox 1.0 stopped recognizing mouse clicks. Menus would pull down but fail to do anything, requiring a force-quit to recover. There also seems to be a problem with Javascript and tabs, pages are hanging if they aren't the visible pane.
Oh well, maybe they'll get a cleaned-up 1.1 out there soon.
Last I heard, 1.1 was being planned for March for Macs. But that could've changed.

I can see the reflexes being sharpen but eyesight....I'm still wearing glasses for goodness sake and I've been playing games since the days of stickman.

its not saying that your actual vision will improve. its saying that your ability to discern objects in a mess/fast moving environment is improved.

Thanks. So that means there is essentially no quality loss when the WMV file gets converted to WAV? I understand of course that the WMV file itself was lossy. But from your description the WAV file should be the de-compressed output with no other changes.
If you then rip the WAV to CD, you have the same CD that you would've otherwise paid an extra .99 a track for. If you re-compress, you will have some further sound quality degradation (sort of like re-saving JPEG files.)
Ding ding ding! We have a winner! ;) :p :)

Apple niether designs nor manufactures the G3. IBM does. Apple does not add things to it. I expect IBM will keep making it as-is for some time, and I expect Apple to keep using it in iBooks because it is tiny, cheap, efficient, and overall pretty powerful.

why would you use firefox over camino (assuming a mac here)? personally, i think the camino look & feel is more mac like, but aside from that what makes firefox any different?
I switched to Firefox as soon as Panther arrived because Camino version 0.7 did not display text correctly any longer. Overall, Firefox gets the more and more interesting updates since it is used by a wider audience.
Considering that a browser usually displays a variety of web pages, each with their own look and feel, I don't care a lot how the browsers buttons look, as long as things are organised well, I'm happy.

Personally I think apple have got to give the ipod an mp3 encoder so that it can record both from internal and external microphones. It's one of the main things that for all the talk of a digital lifestyle it's actually quite difficult to get some thing that will do this for you on a mac.
Yes there's archos but most manufacturers don't seem to have heard of macs when it comes to the digital recording of sound.
there's loads more than 1 fw card reader here in the UK.
