Am I the only one who didn't like gears of war? I just thought it was incredibly boring. I couldn't stand more than 1/2 an hour playing it.
A movie based on it? The only good game => movie crossover I can think of was the tomb raider movies, and they we're only slightly above average. The mario movie was fun in the stuipest sense, but not good in the least.

For the past month or so, my Folding Garden (not big enough to be a patch, much less a farm:p ) consists of:
iMac G4 800
PowerBook G4 1.33
iMac G4 700
3.6GHz Xeon
Dual 2.4GHz Xeon (only using one processor, though)
3.2GHz P4
When we add the hardware for our digital printing department, I may have the opportunity to add Folding into several more boxes.;)

Battery life isn't really important because 99% of people run their notebook off of A/C, not battery. If you do, you can run this up to 2 hours on a battery. Still not bad.
All this talk about editing a movie while flying coast to coast is bunk. Trying to do that while flying on a major and they will think you are a terrorist. Besides the jets now have A/C jacks in first class.

Ok, so it is 4x faster than the PowerBook. 4x faster in what. You just can't say it is 4x faster. And saying that no one runs there laptop of battery, thats insane. thats the whole damn reason why i have a powerbook, so i can take it with to places where I can't plug it in. Whatever the battery life on that thing is I would knock off and hour and you would get really. Editing movies is a terrorist thing, right. Plus not everyone flies first class. Can that X-Book run iCal, iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and everything else without crashing. I think not. Next time think of something to back up your problem with Apple. To me it sounds like you don't know what your talking about and I think everyone else on this server would agree.

My research led me to believe it's a limitation of XUL on OSX.
FWIW, this issue is Bug 151249 (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151249) in their bug database.
Based on the discussion, it appears that the original Mozilla code was using the old MacOS event manager, which only supports one mouse button. They never updated it to the new Carbon mechanism, which supports up to 64K mouse buttons - hence the bug. (Right-click worked because they were faking a CTRL-click event.)
Anyway, it would appear that someone finally updated at least some of that code to use the newer Carbon API, and that a patch was developed. But since they haven't closed the bug yet, I would assume it hasn't made its way into any releases yet.

I've never known the UK store go down and not the US one at the same for anything major. It hasn't been down that long, it could be a simple refresh a slight layot change. Lets hope it is something more.

I've had Safari crash a LOT (probably the most crashed program next to Word and Mail.app)
Wow, I have only had Mail crash on me once (2004-07-16) since I started using it as my primary e-mail client back in September 2002.
Have you ever thought about trying to find out why it is crashing so much? Because I don't think that that is normal for it.

No they won't. WMP's been able to play video and music from the WMP library since version 7, which was a whopping 25mb or 30mb download for windows 98 users over dial up.
I really wish Apple would spice up their UI though..it's so bland.

I've said this before in another thread, but I'll say it again - I believe the stars are aligned for Apple to release Tiger to other manufacturers. IBM and Sony come to mind. That would definitely add fuel to the fire
I highly doubt that it will be licensed to other platforms where it won't run as well as it would on the native Apple machines. You may be right that it could be released to IBM and Sony for use on Apple-based hardware, so that it is not usable on, say, HP's, Dells, eMachines and the like. I think it would make a dent in Apple's hardware sales, but it would be the first step towards really stepping into the limelight and taking over. Be afraid, Microsoft, be very afraid.

i wonder if a single processor machine that repeatedly requests core82 and never gets it just hangs forever?
that would suck for the whole project

That's when it REALLY sucks.
I'm hoping that if something goes badly wrong, we can restore our installations from the disk images I have made and backed up... if that fails, then all the software is legit and sorting it will be a pain but the plan is to minimise disruption, not to avoid it entirely.
However, if the G5s soon start leaking coolant all over the desks as rumored, then I guess we'll have more concerns than merely using QuarkXpress.

hmmmm....lets give this a go...
edit: certainly seems snappier on my iMac, which now makes it MUCH faster than Safari, seeing as the "regular" Firefox has always been faster anyway. Good stuff!

Maybe someone has a custom forum reader that posts for them, I honestly don;t know how they post so much, I can only keep pace with so many threads at a time, I have work and school so I don;t have enough time to post. Heh 3 years and 1700 posts, some of these kids have 8000 in a year:(

And Mr. Anderson's at 14k+ posts while a couple of the other moderaters posting in this thread are around 10k+ and/or 7.7k+.

Well, I'm not weeping, considering that Pioneer has already showed off, in public, laptop sized slot load dvd burners (think about it, who else uses them). Obviously Jozwiak would say he doesn't know when powerbooks with superdrives will come out (as opposed to him knowing which would mean he would have to tell us, which means he's spilling company secrets which means that Steve would fire him the next morning). It's really quite simple.

WooHoo! as said, the REAL napster is back! Unlimited, free, pirated songs..where is my old Windoze box when I need it!
Seriously, this is far from a crack of the DRM, and something you can easily do on iTunes (I do it so I can strip DRM from my library so my Roku Soundbridge can play all my music) However, iTunes isnt giving me unlimited access. I wonder if the iTunes team thought of such things, or it is a fortunate side-effect of their choice of music service?
Now..how long before someone eliminates the need to actually burn a CD to make this all work? :p

that sounds cool and a decent processor to replace my old amd k6-2 running laptop...8th gen laptop is what i would want but i will wait it out like i do with all gear until it is reasonable to buy
remember when first pentium 3 1 ghz machines came out...3 grand...way too much for mid 2000?
not long after, prices practically crashed:p
