So you're saying that if you were in the same situation as him, you would return the first printer? ...Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. When I acquire something, it is because I worked and paid for it. This does not mean that I am adverse to receiving gifts. If Apple wanted me to keep the printer, that is a different matter. However, it would be the company's decision, not mine.

It is hard to believe this was written when it was... this was 7 months after acquiring NeXT and he is saying:"Sales of Rhapsody are $0."The first developer version of Rhapsody was still almost two months away at this, what was he expecting?
More importantly, Apple was making money from NeXT software. Apple had released OPENSTEP 4.2 in January of 1997 and would continue to sell OPENSTEP, and NeXT versions of Enterprise Objects and WebObjects until 2001. While sales of Rhapsody (which didn't exist as a stand alone OS yet) were $0... sales of WebObjects at the time were a completely different story. WebObjects was (back in 1997) the only software of it's kind for the internet at the beginning of the net bubble. While I don't think Apple managed WebObjects that well after the .com burst, they were making good money with WebObjects leading up to that point.
Plus, this person seems to be unaware that Sun would have been willing to pay as much as Apple did (most likely more) to get NeXT. The thing is, NeXT wasn't for sale until Apple bought them. And Sun was throwing money around at anything back then (people even thought they might buy Apple), so had they been able to buy NeXT to secure their plans, they would have (they had just bought Lighthouse Design so that they would have a native office suite for OpenStep Solaris).
It is pretty bad when people make claims like they have some type of inside knowledge when they really don't. Had something like this been written today, I would have bet that Dvorak had written it to boost his numbers.

I like to keep my hopes down so I don't get dissapointed. I am expecting a 933 MHz g4, with DDR implementation, but no BlueTooth.

I hear Apple and the "adult toy industry" are working on a.. device.. that will accept a plug from the iPod and will... oscillate... to the tunes being played.
That should be exciting, no?

Funny you are talking about price drop when apple raised prices on all there models here in Holland from the 1st of October!
It was about a 4% increase across the board...
This does not help the "Dutch" people do the "Switch", I don't get it, why are we paing so much more for Mac's in Europe when PC prices are not that different with U.S. ones.

I thought Godfather Blackhand edition would be just another PS2 port with tacked on Wii controls but IGN just gave it an 8.0 and generally had good things to say about it. That makes it the 5th highest Wii game they've rated behind Zelda, SSX, Elebits, and WarioWare.
I'll probably rent it first but this is surprising news to me. EA is doing a good job even if it is just ports. Hopefully, they will have a few new IPs on the Wii in the next year or so...

i thought the exact same thing. just another ps2 port... the graphics in the previews looked like ****... worse than quite a few GC games. i think i'll need to rent this. (btw... i thought SSX Blur would be really really good and it's ok but not that great at all.)

When I call people on Skype out, they still hear an echo of their voice. Sorry, not good enough.
All I've had to do is click "echo cancellation" in preferences, and the reception is clear as a bell between S.A. and mid west U.S. Skype hab been berry berry gude to me :)

Yes, but if you look at the macbidouille.com link i posted earlier, it says something exactly opposite.
We won't be able to know any more until October - unless Apple comes out with something in the mean time. But since they haven't even been able to ship the new 1.25s yet, I hardly think that will be the case.

Ditto that.
I would want a MacBook/iBook.
Same here- but with the absence of a MacBook/iBook option, I just voted for a 30th Anniversary Mac.

No, I don't think it's very smart to use dual processors in consumer computers. That's makes it look like Apple is trying too hard to manufacture faster systems. Besides, only workstations use more than one processor--consumer machines do NOT.
Instead, Motorola should take advantage of 90-nanometer technology and manufacture chips at clock speeds that easily rival Intel/AMD processors; that would mean pushing for 3GHz and beyond.
IBM has said (http://news.com.com/2100-1001-257421.html) it wants to hit 2GHz by the end of but I think they're going to be a little late releasing it since Apple's next OS (10.3/Panther) likely want be here until January 2003 as Apple has indicated (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2002/sep/10macosx.html); if IBM's 64-bit G5 is truly coming in January then I expect Apple's next OS to be 64-bit/32-bit backward compatible.
That's my $0.02 on that. ;)

For what is worth I have a Newton 130 for a long time I was thinking if I should be "hip" I get one of those Palm/Visor things. Finally about two weeks ago I got one a Visor.
After two week of use I find to be the most useless pice of SH**T I have ever gotten the os itself does not come even close to the Newton OS, the graffiti BS is so frusttrating, you can't fax, print out of the box you have to go out and buy programs for it to even make an attent to replicated what the Newton can do. On my newton I can fax, send emails, even browse the web right out of the box. So in conclusion if this picture is the Newton OS/OS X lite Devise that apple is working on I hope they come out with it like yesterday is not fast enough. In the mean time I going back to Newton and given the visor up for sale on ebay to see if another sap will buy it.
Cheers:D
PS I'm writing this post on my newton!!!
