Thats is so true, yet very sad! The coolest apple reseller near me has all the gear and everything for the mac I would even need, but then when you go to pay, the iMac runs virtual PC with windows POS software.
LOL, haha i noticed that too here in CT.
Its friggin crazy.

This is great news - by removing the DRM I can play my music on any device I like. It is my music after all. The music industry needs to get used to the idea that you should really only sell a track once to each user, not one track for each device the user wants to play that track on.
Apple and the music industry in general will continue to rake in the $$$ regardless of this development - the real threat to the industry was always P2P, not sales.

very funny... seriously, that was great!
anyhow, i wish i had the time to be here more often, as it is (being a student and all) i just dont' have the time to visit and crawl through the forums and post as often as i would like.
i really enjoy it here, and <insert pun about my age here> because of my age, i spend most of my time here LEARNING, not helping. the few times i get an opportunity to help, one of the other old skool members have beat me to it! ;) those that post often (such as yourself) are a great resource to us youngens. so thank you!

Okay, I am sick and tired of these crappy ass laptop specs apple has been throwing at us.
they need a GF4 'Go' 64 and a 166 bus at LEAST.
1Ghz G4. It's possible. ****.
Why doesn't apple just visit all these forums and see what the **** we want? We're the consumers. We're the ones buying this stuff..

I had trouble getting it to work at first also. The instructions from FAH were not newbie friendly which I need. Check the link below. The main thing missing from the FAH directions is when it asked for memory the number was HUGE change this to 2048 or how much memory you have. I did get an early end work unit for the first unit then re-loaded and very smooth sailing after.
I also was running SETI on this laptop, your right it Screams!! Was crushing my AMD X2 4200 500 vs 950 for the Mac. Folding runs cooler don't know exact temps just feeling bottom.
http://forum.folding-community.org/ftopic16826.html
thanks, i might try folding again when i get a chance. right now i'll just let SETI run. I'm trying to get higher on the macrumors team. right now i'm 17, and i just started like 2 days ago!
i've got to study anyways. maybe i'll setup folding tomorrow after my finals

Like the Pippin, Apple won't make the mistake of releasing the QuickTake again.
I wouldn't say that. If they feel like they have perfected a product, they mad rerelease it.

I have been folding since 2000, however I have yet to run F@H for long on my iMac. Reason being, CPU temps reach 85C. Is this safe for my Mac? I feel that at these temperatures I will need to take out an extended Apple Care warranty. :confused:if u feel it is unsafe, then don't do it. we would love to have your help, but if you feel it is at the expense of your machine, then your machine is more important
i only fold on machines i dont own for the same reasons you stated

right but it is by far more secure that fileVault. The reason that is more secure is because the enqetion key is not stored on the harddrive. The key has to remain unencrypted to read the stuff. In theory I could still a drive lock with filevault and get into the files. Hard but very do able. Having the key stored on another peice of hardware is a great way to keep it safe.
So they take the second piece of hardware that has the encryption. No big deal.
There is still a lot of territory that needs to be covered before data can be protected from physical theft. There are too many tools out there provided by manufacturers and OS makers that invalidate these security measures.
I have some tools that I use on a daily basis that I would feel very uncomfortable with having floating around for anyone in the public to use.
Hell, an idiot can get into your files by just booting into safe mode, if you don't have your security in windows set up correctly. I know one time my friend reset my password on my laptop as a joke and I just booted into safe mode as a workaround.

it would be funny to see everyone on team macrumors fold under the same name, other teams would check our stats and see just one user cranking out 50,000 points a day or some silly number.
Ya, I can see the humor in that. One person cranking out 50,000+ points a day. :)
I wish my machine could pump out those numbers.

It's been a good experience so far. I am new to BT clients and it worked like a gem (wink). However, I cannot upload. I want to contribute so I will not be labeled a leecher and "banned." I think it's an issue with the Wireless Actiontec router provided by my DSL provider. However, it took me so damn long to get the thing working properly with my 3 Macs and the AirPort Express that I do not want to enter 192.168.0.1 into Safari EVER again. So I can't get the upload ports to work. Oh well. There is only one thing I need BT for, and I only need it once a week. Hopefully the tracker site will not tell me to sod off when I show up next week... have I said too much?

Why don't you punish Wal-Mart or Nike or Disney or any other company buying their products from another group which handles the manufacturing in China? Why just Apple?
I didn't register a vote because there was no choice for "Punish Hon Hai for breaking the law."
I do. When I lived in the UK I did not buy from Asda (UK arm of Wal-Mart), I own nothing from Nike. As for Disney, I was unaware of the situation, but generally avoid them for other reasons.
Edit: having said that, I believe that Nike have made attempts to change and I intend to monitor their progress. We must reward those companies that make positive changes.

Thank you crocodile-man.
Right now Apple's not selling on speed or hardware, they're selling on software. That's what a lot of (but not all) of the switch ads are targeted at. The iApps.
You name me ANYTHING on the PC platform that even remotely compares to ANY of them and you can pry my PC from my cold dead fingers.
......waiting.........

..........still waiting........

oh what's that? You couldn't find any?
Well that's a shame.
Guess I won't be buying a Mac cuz it's slower than PCs then.
I don't ******** care if Intel comes out with a 5Ghz PVI next year, it's not going to run OSX, it's going to run Pallidinium which is the computer equivilent to a $1500 paperweight.
Fine. Go buy a PC. Be happy with Windoze XP. Trust Microsoft. Update your computer with 57 secuity patches. Play music on a media player that spies on you. Have Microsoft activate DRM without your consent.
Enjoy.
