Ok, so the memory thing wasn't exactly doing it for me. I'm looking at getting a 1.25 dualie but I need a little help in motivation. I know the 19" display is going to be coming, at the latest by Jan. But now Apple's finally given me something to bite on. I don't know if you all have seen this yet, but Apple's got a new "Power Couple" rebate offer. I haven't read the fine print yet, but it looks like I get $400 back if I buy my 1.25 and ANY display. That means the 17" looks mighty good....
Add in the memory offer (even if it is 2 256 sticks) and that's not a bad deal. I think the two offers can be combined. Not bad...what do you all think?

This offer starts today and ends Dec. 31, which may mean no 19" before Jan. It seemed to come so quietly....

That is, Dual 50Mhz.
Seriously, these rumors are almost bad as the Dual 1.6 Ghz powermacs. Although I have never sat down and used one, I have heard that the TiBook has some major heat issues. Putting a dual processor in it would only make the problem worse.
On the other hand, Apple is an amazing company and anything is possible.
On the third hand, that superdrive looks to be a perfect addition to the next round of PowerBooks.

His girlfriend looks hotter now too. Little less "junk in the trunk" as far as I can see. He must still be at apple since his beach buddy has an OS X t-shirt on. His webpage also says it was recently modified. I wonder what he's working on now.... Someone email him saying we're starting his fan club....

I really hope the low-end model gets a DVD or CD-RW. It seems like it should get a DVD, CD-ROMs should be abandoned by Apple and a DVD would be better suited to a laptop then a CD-RW.
edit- Here's what MOSR has to say:
The iBook is looking to see G3 processors at up to 933MHz, 133MHz memory, and new displays - a 13-inch standard flat panel, and a 14-inch widescreen. The timing looks to be between January and March of next year, but is very much subject to change depending on the economic climate that takes shape between now and then.

I want total control of every aspect of my life through my mac....(on second thought, that could get sloppy)
however, I control all the sound through out my house already from my desk (I do however) have to have an amplifier that can switch on what speakers I want on etc....
and I am working on not buying a dvd player, and just running cable from the mac to the tv's
in PC world, you can already do your lights and thermostat on timers etc....that's kinda cool!

its too bad i don't work at the local university anymore. I would of so gone and installed folding at home on all the computers in the labs.
This would have helped out a lot i think, especially since we left those things run 24/7.

I personally have little idea what to expect in the coming months. I love all the rumors and BS bouncing back & forth about modified 2GHz Power4s, 1.6GHz G5s, etc., but I really expect nothing more than the modest improvements we see in the Mac line every 6 months.
What I am hoping for in the next series of upgrades (hopefully within the next 6 months) are
> full support for DDR-RAM,
> firewire b (looooong overdue), and
> more than a 200MHz increase for the CPU in the next round of powerbooks.
And from Mac developers,
> >500MHz G4 upgrades for B&Ws (this is getting really tiring).
This is all I can think of at the moment.

I love FF's "Find", and as a previous poster said, it makes all other Find boxes rather archaic.
I miss how the middle mouse button (scroll wheel button) opened a new tab in Safari.

your plasma has DVI input?
if yes, get a cable and plug it in
also if it has a HDMI input, get a DVI to HDMI converter. or if you have VGA in your plasma use the converter that came with your MBP

Hahaha! Wow! I thought I would never have a reason to share my media on a 360, but for security purposes, I should :) That is amazing and stupid on your neighbor's part. See, there's reason to invest in the $100 WiFi dongle. :D
Please do keep us posted. That may not enough for a warrant, but maybe having a cop visit either homes may be enough for someone to break. It is only down to two houses after all.
Wow, stealing WiFi AND a X-Box 360? Any laws in your area about stealing an internet connection? :D

The last time apple had an external device like that was with what, the mac classic and it's hard drive?
With apple going big on design it just wouldn't make sense for them to even consider an external as an option.
An external drive doesn't really require that much research, it's just the same damn thing. Pioneer is probably looking to build the internal for apple, one of their big optical drive buyers.

Cool. Can I run the AmigaOne OS on my Mac? :)
Only if the AmigaOne OS understands the Apple Boot ROM that all Apple Macs have - at least that's what I'd think would be the limiting factor. I haven't studied or used the Amiga OS much.

So, if I use PyMusique, and Apple cancels my account, thereby forcing me to use some other music store, or P2P service, Apple comes out ahead how, exactly?
No one's account is getting cancelled...
Yes, Apple might cancel your account, so go ahead and be the first to try. Thus, if they have to cancel one, or ten, or a thousand accounts to protect their service you really don't think they will do that? It wouldn't be any big deal if they lose a few thousand accounts over this, since that would likely be only a few thousand dollars in revenue (if even that), less than a day or two's legal fees for a half decent lawyer.
In that case, it won't take people very long to learn that they shouldn't use such obvious methods to violate the iTunes Music Store Terms Of Service (TOS) and (possibly) the DMCA.
Note: iTunes Music Store TOS -- that legal statement that you said "Yes" to when you signed up for the iTunes service.
Everybody relax.
Exactly, that's why I said in my previous post that this doesn't really mean much.
Edit: replaced EULA with iTunes Music Store TOS.

Ok, I decided to take the plunge. I mean, I already had the game and I figured it was about time I used it. I had no idea how long it would take to install the game. Then I had to install a myriad of updates and the first three of them were each about 500MB. Anyway, 6 hours later I was able to create my first character.
The intent of this post was not to describe my experience but rather to pose a question. With the assumption that I would like to play alone as much as possible, is there a race and class combination that would suit me best? Also, are there certain professions or talents that would be best to concentrate on? I am not very familiar with professions or talents as I only dabbled in the game a bit last night. I want to avoid getting 40 hours into the game and realizing that I have picked a race and class that are heavily dependent on others.
On a dissimilar note, the controls were quite awkward at first but after 30 minutes I found them to be quite ingenious. Leave it to Blizzard I guess.

I think you're over analyzing this situation. It is one that is purely BUSINESS.
Intel has AMD as direct competition, causing a "space race" sort of 'speed race', they keep topping eachother in speed and proccesses. Both are forced to innovate to remain competitive; and even in the PC world, it is a hard choice whether to choose Intel or AMD for your processor.
With Apple as their primary and only customer for the Mac specific chip, Motorolla has no need to innovate, there is no fire under ass, so to speak.
Basically, they don't care because they don't have to. And it is not Apple's "fault", but rather a credit that they have standerdized on one processor; but that is a convenience and a privelage for Apple, only because there is no other maker at the moment. I'm sure if there was, there would be court cases similar to Microsoft is in about anti-competiveness of Motorolla :P.
Motorolla has a pure monopoly on a private platform; if Apple were still licensing, and you could buy Umax, SuperMac and other Mac Clones, I'm 100% positive There'd be 4Ghz Macs by now, because those companies would strive to compete with Apple.

I totally agree there. Apple has been shooting itself in the foot or worse with this whole liscensing thing. Anyone remember Firewire? Yeah, me too it was a technology that was far superior to USB but basically lost out to USB 2 because Apple charged developers an arm and a leg to use it. And Firewire 2?I can count the number of devices for Firewire 2 on my fingers.
With the whole fairplay thing they are doing this to the extreme. They're not even letting developers use it. And who does it hurt? The consumer. Do you think anyone would honestly choose to use crappy Windows Media format if they had the choice?
In Apple's defense though, I personally think that DRM is terrible all around. The fact that Microsoft canned Windows Media for Mac and will never port their DRM to Mac is just as bad as Apple not letting anyone else use Fairplay. I should be able to buy songs from Napster if I want and I should be able to burn a DVD of shows bought on iTunes. The way things are going, it won't be long before you have to get an implant that tracks how many times you listen to any given song and gives you intense pain if you think about copying it.

As I recall that Steve Jobs said, no DRM scheme will be secure forever and will ultimately be cracked. They're really only useful for helping honest people stay honest.
