Scott Listfield share my love of astronaut art, in fact he paints astronauts in every single one of his works, they're everywhere, in the street, at Dunkin' Donuts, in the car park, hanging out in Hollywood. I don't know why I like astronaut art so much, I'm not talking about NASA portraits and the like, I mean astronauts doing unexpected things in unexpected places, almost as if Earth is the alien planet. We are indeed a weird bunch on Earth and need much study in the years to come.

They Come The Squid The Parking Ticket Pan Am Obey NASDAQ Mars Go Home It's a Question of Simian Survival Donuts Do Not Enter BOOM A Close Encounter

It's all little bit Man Who Fell to Earth I suppose, a Stranger in a Strange Land, observing the natives from his protective cocoon. I've featured another astronaut artist before, Jeremy Geddes, a different style, more sombre and dreamlike in composition, both offer a great deal in sci-fi surrealism, however together they almost represent the Yin and Yang of astronaut art. One dark and moody, the other bright and colourful, one featuring astronauts floating around in the air, above the streets, above the people. The other lost in a recession hit urban landscape, struggling to interact, striving to make sense of the world around him.

Scott works on a small and intricate scale, mainly working in oils, and recapturing that 60's essence of technicolour sci-fi utopia/dystopia so familiar to the silver screen at the time. His paintings are all but sold, and they sell fast, but you can buy prints of his works at Fine Art America. and there's one available at Society6 and more via Facebook.

Marvellous stuff. There's a great interview with the guy at Pixel Surgeon, and if you want to keep up with all things Listfield then follow his tweets.
