Indoor Street Art by Paul Baines |
Posted: 20 Feb 2011 06:55 AM PST David Bromley is a fascinating Australian self-taught painter with British roots, born in England his family emigrated to Australia early in his childhood, his style is curiously pop-influenced, something akin to illustrated children's books in the 1950s which in turn makes me wonder if there's some kind of primal hankering for his non-Antipodean years going on there. His favourite subjects being childhood and the female form, there is a beautifully drawn animation by the artist at his Australian site www.davidbromley.com.au. Bromley has illustrated for many major publications including Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, he's had over thirty solo exhibitions across Australia, Europe, the USA and Asia. His work is held in corporate, private and public collections in both hemispheres and he's listed as one of the '50 Most Collectible Artists in Australia' by Australian Art Collector Magazine. Bromley has a another site well worth visiting if you'd like to see more check out www.apicturebook.com.au or see you can find out which of his paintings are for sale at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery. |
